This lovely lady is a Stimsons Python Antaresia stimsoni. The Stimsons python is a relatively small python in comparison with other Australian python species.

The Stimsons natural distribution range would probably be the largest distribution range of any Australian python. Within this huge distribution range there are several recognized morphs. These morphs were probably the result of environmental differences e.g. habitat, prey and climate differences, over thousands of years.

Generally speaking the Stimsons python is well suited as a captive pet. The temperament of these pythons is quite placid and besides the odd exception they are normally amendable to handling.

This lovely lady Roxanne belongs to the neighbours across the road from my parents. Trev has had her for about 12 years now and in that time she has grown quite a bit!

Every year for Salmon Festival The Reptileman from Monroe comes to teach kids not to fear the mother nature's reptile familly...unless of course they're poisonous. It's always so nice to see a new generation of youngsters grow up with information about these animals, rather than the knee jerk fear reaction I grew up with. To go to reptileman's website and learn of the location of his 'Zoo", click below:

This is a sub-adult Bismarck ringed python. The hatchlings are bright orange with black stripes. As they get older the orange dulls but they gain a beautiful rainbow-like color which can easily be seen in the sun. This one is a male named Nightshade.

Python reticulatus, also known as the (Asiatic) reticulated python, is a species of python found in Southeast Asia. Adults can grow to 6.95 metres (22.8 ft) in length but normally grow to an average of 3-6 meters (10–20 feet). They are the world's longest snakes and longest reptile, but are not the most heavily built. Like all pythons, they are nonvenomous constrictors and normally not considered dangerous to humans. Although large specimens are powerful enough to kill an adult human, attacks are only occasionally reported.

Reaching high in the tree the python vine looks like it is about to strangle the tree. Yet coming back months lager the tree does not appear to be any the less for wear having hosted the vine for a number of months or years.
