The Antibes Newrider 20km has been my first longboard race and it’s been very fun!

In just 1 hour of race I’ve learned so many things that I could never learn other way: but basically, I can go pumping on for ages but I will never be as fast as someone that just push. And pushing requires different muscles to make work… that’s so simple!

Lorenzo and Frank has been my mates in the race and Alex documented the whole trip with photos and videos (soon to be released!): I couldn’t really have a better crew, they’re just crazy!

It’s been great also to meet athlets like Alexandre and Giovanni who dedicated all their last years just to LDP and are worldwide recognized: cool people, they are an example for everybody.

Thanx to Antibes Longskate and Samule Moret for the event and for being so friendly!

“Prior to opening Langley Diving I was fortunate enough to travel to every continent and in each case took every opportunity to dive with sharks. From Great Whites in South Africa to Leopard Sharks in Thailand and White Tips, Black Tips, Hammerheads, Reef Sharks and Nurse Sharks in the Caribbean, Australia Egypt and elsewhere. Sharks are apex predators that manage the eco-systems of our oceans. They deserve our protection. To protect sharks is an investment in the protection of our oceans and in turn the rest of our planet. As our oceans witness a rapid and global rise in unsustainable shark fishing and demand for shark fin soup, I support the push to protect Europe’s Shark. Given the EU’s influence on international fisheries policies and developing countries, improvements in EU shark policies are critical for securing a brighter future for sharks not only in Europe but around the world. We must ensure sharks are around for ocean health and our children”. says Sharon Bossons, Langley Diving

This chap looks to me like he's pushing himself off the bicycle seat to thrust himself into the air. Quite a stunt it was.

Nicrophorus defodiens; beetle showing off his strength. I was kind of shocked!

Just a side-note, this is a type of Carrion Beetle. I didn't even have to look at him to know it.. I could smell it easily enough.

The 14th Annual Pumpkin Push 5K & Family Walk took place on Saturday, October 24 at Seattle's Seward Park. I was encouraged to run this 5K by Jessica, our instructor from Southside Booty Camp. ( www.southsidebootycamp.com ) - I had a blast participating with other Booty Campers! Running right alongside Annie the zombie bride definitely made it better. Charity and Laurel did the Walk and Mike was on Support Duty. Go team!

See, now I didn't ONLY photograph lovely landscapes and statues while I was away, I got in close on such riveting subjects as the combo body wash/shampoo dispenser in my hotel.

And judging by one of my favorite Flickr friends, I'm not alone in photographing hotel minutiae in between other activities.

I noticed that all my hotels -- in Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, Stockholm, and on both the overnight cruise ships I sailed on -- had this "environmentally friendlier" way of providing soap and shampoo as one's only option for soaping up or shampooing.
