The alchemist picked up a book that someone in the caravan had brought. Leafing through the pages, he found a story about Narcissus.

 

The alchemist knew the legend of Narcissus, a youth who knelt daily beside a lake to contemplate his own beauty. He was so fascinated by himself that, one morning, he fell into the lake and drowned. At the spot where he fell, a flower was born, which was called the narcissus.

 

But this was not how the author of the book ended the story.

 

He said that when Narcissus died, the goddesses of the forest appeared and found the lake, which had been fresh water, transformed into a lake of salty tears.

 

'Why do you weep?' the goddesses asked.

 

'I weep for Narcissus," the lake replied.

 

'Ah, it is no surprise that you weep for Narcissus,' they said, 'for though we always pursued him in the forest, you alone could contemplate his beauty close at hand.'

 

'But... was Narcissus beautiful?' the lake asked.

 

'Who better than you to know that?' the goddesses asked in wonder. 'After all, it was by your banks that he knelt each day to contemplate himself!'

 

The lake was silent for some time. Finally, it said:

 

'I weep for Narcissus, but I never noticed that Narcissus was beautiful. I weep because, each time he knelt beside my banks, I could see, in the depths of his eyes, my own beauty reflected.'

Aasleagh (in Irish Eas Liath) is the name of an Irish waterfall in the northern Connemara. He becomes by the river Erriff (Ir. In Oirimh) fed and is shortly before the mouth of the river in the Killary fjord northeast of the place Leenaun on the border of the counties Galway and Mayo. The name decreases to the originally Irish naming Eas Liath. Eas is the waterfall and liath the colour calls grey, translates „grey waterfall“.

 

The Aasleagh waterfall was exact like the place Leenaun, the film scenery for the film rotated in 1990 "The Field" with Richard Harris.

 

Aasleagh is under the spectacles of nature Connemaras a popular photo motive for the visitors. near the waterfall Lodge, a country house from the 18th century which is pursued today by the regional fishing management as fishing lodge is Aasleagh. The waters of the Erriff are famous for her salmons.

 

After the Ulster cycle of the Irish mythology should have disappeared both favorite horses of the hero Cú Chulainn, Liath Macha and Dub Sainglenn, from which Linn Liaith („grey pool“) appeared and after his death again in it. – argumentative – localisation associates this place with the Eas Liath.

Anatomical description

I have not pursued photographing deer as much as I usually do in the fall and winter. On a recent visit to the Palmyra Cove Nature Park, I came across this nice eight point buck. He was kind enough to give me a nice pose in late afternoon light before he sauntered off into the woods. View large for best detail.

Few likely remember the Cinebomb classic from 1957 "From Hell It Came". For those who are familiar will agree this tree closely resembles the horrifying oak that snatched up young island girls while they slept and deposited them into a pool of quicksand. This being a common event on remote islands where tree's are left unsupervised and allowed to freely roam to pursue these unspeakable acts of violence.

Jean-Francois Rauzier is a French photographer best known for his digitally altered depictions of cities and places such as The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Versailles Palace, and Abu Dhabi, among others.

Rauzier refers to his works as “hyperphotos,” which is meant to describe the quality of a supernaturally detailed image in where multiple perspectives of a scene are juxtaposed—his images are often reminiscent of the surreal drawings of M.C. Escher in the stark attention to fine detail.

Born on April 24, 1952 in Saint-Adresse, France, he studied at the Louis Lumière College and later worked as a commercial photographer while pursuing his own career. Rauzier began making hyperphotos in 2002 with the advent of digital correction tools. Today, his works are in the collections of the city of Lille, the city of Paris, the Foundation Louis Vuitton in Paris, and the Newseum in Washington, D.C., among others. The artist lives and works in Paris, France.

Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

The Yellow Wagtail feeds on numerous aquatic and terrestrial invertebrates. She captures insects on the ground after a short chase, but also while flying. She pursues her prey with a fast waving flight, or flutters briefly before capturing it. On the ground, she hunts while walking, exploiting all kinds of surfaces from the roads to the roofs of houses and other places discovered.

She can catch prey by running and pecking to grab it. It also happens to jump in the air to catch a flying insect.

Long-tailed Jaeger breeds in northern regions of North America and Eurasia, then spends the rest of the year in the southern oceans. Despite this wide distribution, I had not seen the species until this trip to the Northwest Territories — and my first sighting was of several on snowbanks beside the Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk Highway. So at close range and at length, a highlight of our visit to NWT. This gave opportunity to enjoy observing interactions and to appreciate the beautiful plumage. Jaegers are excellent fliers that often pursue other birds that have caught food, harassing them until they drop their prize and the jaeger swoops in.

Pursued by their overzealous fans, the band escapes into an alley…

Due to my health condition, I am unable to hold or stabilize a camera for extended periods of time. Additionally, using a tripod has never been enjoyable for me, as it would cause pain when trying to position it correctly and constantly bending over to check the viewfinder. Consequently, I have chosen to explore digital AI artwork as an alternative. I understand that this may not be everyone's cup of tea, as it diverges from traditional photography. However, I have always granted myself the freedom to exercise artistic license and pursue whatever brings me joy. Currently, digital AI artwork fulfills that purpose, at least for the time being.

The sky had seemed a bit iffy (read cloudy) when we started our grassland safari in the morning, and we were somewhat worried about the light. It stayed that way for a better part of the morning, but for a little while the Sun came out and provided that gorgeous golden light.

 

We noticed these Eurasian collared doves on a thorny bush preening themselves. They are rather common around during winter, and we usually pass them over pursuing more elusive and glamorous subjects such as raptors. However, the light falling on this pair at that time was so beautiful that we had to stop the vehicle and click them till heart's content.

The Peregrine Falcon is one of the fastest and powerful birds in the world with eyes as good as telescopes and has extraordinary agility.

 

Hooded Crows use their intelligence to identify threats. Studies show that crows are remarkably efficient at picking out potential environmental threats. So instead of waiting until they’re attacked, crows often take proactive action to scare birds, animals, or even humans from their habitats.

One of the main techniques crows use to defend their territories is mobbing.

Some crows are happy to take on large birds on their own or in a group. This crow was on its own and showed no fear. Single crows have been observed violently pursuing eagles that are many times bigger than them.

The battle raged on but who was the winner.

 

The bear on the left is a female, that was being pursued by the male bear on the your right. The female decided to chase the male away, and chased him by a group of photographers just out of the frame on the left. To say they were startled is an understatement. Suddenly the male bear thought, "Hey, why am I running" and turned at the instant this image was taken. Lake Clark NP, Alaska while staying at my favorite lodge, Silver Salmon. I took this several years ago but when visiting this year I was paid a great compliment. Belle, the guide from the group just out of the frame, was showing the picture so some people, looked at me and said, yes, this is yours!

We are surrounded by beauty and thousands of things demanding our attention that they in and of themselves hold the value and satisfaction we need to solve our deepest void. How many times has the world promised you that if you got the perfect job, house, car, spouse of your dreams, and kids that are perfect in behavior that all of your problems would be solved and the deep void in your heart would be filled. In reality you would be considered very blessed if you managed to have all of those things at the same time. For those of us who may struggle financially or have a less than perfect family situation, it can be easy for us too often covet this idealistic picture that the world tries to market to us as the very thing we need to make us feel complete. We all know that this is not actually true, or maybe you are still figuring that out for yourself. The rich buy more and more things to try and satisfy. The family vacation that you longed for and dreamed of is fun while it lasts, but then what's next? A new car, that only lasts so long. There is a deep void in our hearts that only the Pearl of Great Price can fill.“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking fine pearls, and upon finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold everything that he had and bought it." (Matthew 13:45-46) We can spend our whole life trying to fill this deep void in our hearts and in the end we will still come up empty, but if we pursue the One True Treasure, that is Jesus, our hearts will be made full and the treasures of this world will grow strongly dim.

An always alert Blue Jay pauses for a moment to take note of its surroundings as it busily pursues breakfast on a Flaming Sumac seed head. Love its curious 'flared eyebrow feather' pose.

 

Abundant and common year round.

My project continues on Camogli, a small village overlooking the Ligurian sea.

I strongly wanted this image by photographing directly on the waves of the sea that wet my ankles.

Camogli is a few kilometers from the city of Genoa, it is a place that takes your breath away from how beautiful it is. Its colorful houses overlook the sea, its small beaches full of stones, its church on a strip of land where the sea begins, its small marina with the characteristic boats with vibrant colors and its small lighthouse that despite severe storms withstands alone indicating the route for sailors. Camogli is one of those places to always return to. Its sea full of white foam breaks on the delightful sandy and pebbly beach and poetically frames this splendid seaside village. The project I have been pursuing for some time aims to enhance the beauty of eastern Liguria. Many places that I had the pleasure of being able to photograph have been repeatedly seen and photographed. I think that to carry out an important project it is necessary to address the same topic several times during the year. Each time a different sky and a different sea, and it does not matter if the weather conditions are not always optimal. For better or for worse we have to accept what nature offers us.

A male red-winged blackbird (Agelaius phoeniceus, Icteridae) chases a great egret (Ardea alba, Ardeidae) at a pond in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
