Gannet - Morus Bassanus
Bempton Cliffs
The gannets are large white birds with yellowish heads; black-tipped wings; and long bills. Northern gannets are the largest seabirds in the North Atlantic, having a wingspan of up to 2 metres (6.6 ft). The other two species occur in the temperate seas around southern Africa, southern Australia and New Zealand.
Gannets hunt fish by diving into the sea from a height and pursuing their prey underwater. Gannets have a number of adaptations which enable them to do this:
no external nostrils, they are located inside the mouth instead;
air sacs in the face and chest under the skin which act like bubble wrapping, cushioning the impact with the water;
positioning of the eyes far enough forward on the face for binocular vision, allowing them to judge distances accurately.
Gannets can dive from a height of 30 metres (98 ft), achieving speeds of 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph) as they strike the water, enabling them to catch fish much deeper than most airborne birds.
The gannet's supposed capacity for eating large quantities of fish has led to gannet becoming a description of somebody with a voracious appetite.
Gannets are colonial breeders on islands and coasts, normally laying one chalky, blue egg. Gannets lack brood patches and they use their webbed feet to warm the eggs. It takes five years for gannets to reach maturity. First-year birds are completely black, and subsequent sub-adult plumages show increasing amounts of white.
The most important nesting ground for northern gannets is the United Kingdom with about two thirds of the world's population. These live mainly in Scotland, including the Shetland Isles. The rest of the world's population is divided between Canada, Ireland, Faroe Islands and Iceland, with small numbers in France (they are often seen in the Bay of Biscay), the Channel Islands, Norway and a single colony in Germany on Heligoland. The biggest northern gannet colony is on Scotland's Bass Rock; in 2014, this colony contained some 75,000 pairs. Sulasgeir off the coast of the Isle of Lewis, St. Kilda, Grassholm in Pembrokeshire, Bempton Cliffs in the East Riding of Yorkshire, Sceilig Bheag, Ireland and Bonaventure Island, Quebec are also important northern gannet breeding sites.
Young gannets were historically used as a food source, a tradition still practised in Ness, Scotland, where they are called guga. Like examples of continued traditional whale harvesting, the modern day hunting of gannet chicks results in great controversies as to whether it should continue to be afforded exemption from the ordinary protection afforded to sea birds in UK and EU law". The Ness hunt is currently limited to 2,000 chicks per year, and dates back at least to the Iron Age. The hunt is considered to be sustainable, as between 1902 and 2003 Gannet numbers in Scotland increased dramatically from 30,000 to 180,000.

I have not pursued photographing deer as much as I usually do in the fall and winter. On a recent visit to the Palmyra Cove Nature Park, I came across this nice eight point buck. He was kind enough to give me a nice pose in late afternoon light before he sauntered off into the woods. View large for best detail.
Thank you for stopping by and have a Great Day~!

Little Owls are most active at dawn and dusk, and after dark when most hunting occurs. However, they can frequently be seen during the middle of the day, basking in the sun on an exposed perch such as a telegraph pole, dead tree or isolated building. Rather than hunting on the wing, Little Owls usually hunt from a perch, typically a fence post. When prey is spotted they sometimes ‘bob up and down’ a few times before a typically short, low, undulating flight to the ground where they sometimes pursue prey on foot. Whilst perched on a post they blend into farmland environments extremely well and are easily overlooked.

The bear on the left is a female, that was being pursued by the male bear on the your right. The female decided to chase the male away, and chased him by a group of photographers just out of the frame on the left. To say they were startled is an understatement. Suddenly the male bear thought, "Hey, why am I running" and turned at the instant this image was taken. Lake Clark NP, Alaska while staying at my favorite lodge, Silver Salmon. I took this several years ago but when visiting this year I was paid a great compliment. Belle, the guide from the group just out of the frame, was showing the picture so some people, looked at me and said, yes, this is yours!
The Aplomado Falcon was placed on the Endangered Species List in 1986 and is the last falcon in the United States currently on this list.
The last known wild breeding pair of Aplomado Falcons in the United States was last seen in New Mexico in 1952.
Aplomado Falcons will hunt together as pairs or in family groups, working together to pursue or flush out their prey.
True to its name, this Sandpiper patrolled the dried up creek bed near the Ottawa River on its own. Over the course of about forty-five minutes, it ate constantly, with several worms pulled out of the mucky patches near the edge of what water remains. Solitary Sandpipers do not probe the muck like other shorebirds, but pick at invertebrates they can see.
This particular bird is active later in the day, working up and down the creek bed in the last hour or so of sunlight (which makes the sunken creek bed a tricky place to secure images). This suited me, as the area attracts people for other reasons, including parasurfing or kiteboarding or whatever it is called - an activity pursued on the nearby Ottawa River that is as effective a way to flush shorebirds as ever there was. So this image was secured in the evening after the River crowd had packed up.
It is also quite bold, and though I was on my stomach in the wildflowers lining the creek, the bird hunted right in front of me.
Solitary Sandpipers are the only one of 85 Sandpiper species to nest in trees - they use the cavities that held American Robin or Red-winged Blackbird nests (among others).

Introduction
Best Gospel Hymns | 2019 Gospel Song With Lyrics "What the Young Must Pursue" | Videos Gospel
I
Prejudiced eyes and deceit are not what the youth should have.
Awful and destructive ways are not how the youth should act.
They should have aspirations, ardently strive to advance,
not lose heart over their prospects,
keep faith in life, the future.
Youth should have resolve in discernment, seeking justice and the truth.
Pursue all things beautiful,
gain reality of positive things.
Be responsible towards life.
You must not take this lightly. You must not take this lightly.
II
Youth should persist in the path of truth,
thus expend their lives for God.
They should not lack the truth,
nor harbor falseness, unrighteousness.
They should take the proper stance.
They shouldn’t just drift along.
They should dare to sacrifice, fight for justice and the truth.
Youth should have resolve in discernment, seeking justice and the truth.
Pursue all things beautiful,
gain reality of positive things.
Be responsible towards life.
You must not take this lightly. You must not take this lightly.
III
Young people should not give in to oppression of dark force.
They must have the courage to change the meaning of their lives.
Young people shouldn’t resign themselves to adversity,
they should be open and frank, forgive fellow believers.
Youth should have resolve in discernment, seeking justice and the truth.
Pursue all things beautiful,
gain reality of positive things.
Be responsible towards life.
You must not take this lightly. You must not take this lightly.

Harmony is something I try to pursue daily trying to make my life a little less messy a little more in tune with the world I want around me, even given the state of things today we can all make our little corner of the world a little less chaotic and more balanced which leads to my actual topic, symmetry.
I guess the lake doesn’t seem to be done giving yet, this shot though not my favorite due to the drab sky shows one of the tools photographers use to get you to spend time looking at their work, symmetry.
By definition symmetry is an object split apart by an axis where both parts are identical, in photography it is a compositional tool that forces the eye to see both halves of the symmetrical subject with the same importance when this happens the composition is in symmetrical balance.
I took this on Oct 25, 2020 with my D850 and Tamron 15-30mm G2 Lens at 20mm 1/15 sec f/16 ISO64 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , and DXO

Shot at the HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON
.
According to the ancient Greek myth, Apollo mocked Eros, who decided to take some revenge on the God of music, poetry and the arts, so he shot him with the golden arrow of passionate love, while he shot the nymph Daphne with the arrow of hate.
Apollo pursued Daphne who ran away from him. When he finally reached her, she begged her father Peneus to have the Earth take her in so as to escape the embrace of the passionate God. She was so turned to a gorgeous plant, taking root in the ground, the plant Laurel. Apollo was heartbroken but swore to hold her forever, wear her on his head, hence the poets and artists were crowned with laurel leaves, φύλλα Δάφνης.
Apollo rendered her evergreen, her leaves never decaying.
This is a copy of the famous sculpture by the Italian sculptor Bernini. Daphne is turning into the laurel tree, as Apollo is touching her.
.
It is also one of the statues decorating the gorgeous HANGING GARDENS OF BABYLON palace on sl.
