Late Winter afternoon at four o’clock

The sun was rushing off to bed

Where pillowed clouds received it

As it sank to rest.

Five seagulls following the light

Pursued the fading glory in the west,

White arrows in the darkening sky

Following the sun.

Separate and solitary

A single bird made haste

In purposeful pursuit

Fleeing the darkness.

He soared and swooped from side to side,

Powerful, carefree flight

Until six birds vanished

In the Winter sunset.

Spots, no spots, nine spots, lots of spots--the Harlequin Ladybug has as many different names, as it has different color forms. Luckily, they all seem to have five spots that seem to form the letter "M" on the light background of its pronotum (thorax).

"Officially-called" the Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (Harmonia axyridis), this ladybug was first found in southeastern U.S. in the late 1970s. Since then it has spread across most of North America. They may have been introduced purposefully, as a biological control of aphids , their primary food.

I envy the birds high up in the trees

They live out their lives so purposefully

I envy the spiders, the squirrels and seeds

They all find their way automatically

(...)

But in this handmade heaven, I come alive

Bluebirds forever colour the sky

In this handmade heaven, we forget the time

'Cause birds of a feather fly together

Some silence is deafening

Some silence feel vengeful and weakening

Some silence is like a thundering

That cuts the skies roaring

From which proceeds a lightning

Silence used to be quiet

Lying on the grassy hills

Under a starry night

But now it rips through my heart

And screams through my mind

No doubt it is more painful than a zillion pricks

Hark! The silence speaks

The silence builds and builds

The end of this is to pluck out the pins

So un-pluck these pins from my heart and skin

For your silence is an unbearable, purposeful sting

Such a flower is the "big yellow" for hoverflies, I suppose. Of course, the tiny hoverfly has picked out the tallest outstanding flower as a landing place – very purposeful and very fast. I caught her anyway. I was also further away and well camouflaged by the yellow flower clouds ;-)

There's something about mushrooms that always makes me think of magic and fairies. Not seen one yet though... :-(

One of my recent in-camera monochromes with the helios lens, but given a slight creative twist for fun. (Produced by adding coloured pixel layers and using blend ranges to restrict the colours to just the highlights. With a bit of masking to get the colours where I wanted them. [The colours were purposefully kept really subtle, so don't worry if you miss them!] )

When the sun first shines its' light onto the earth, it summons the beginning of a new day. Dawn has broke, the cold and dark of night is now over. The sunlight is ushering in a new day filled with new opportunities, hopes, dreams, and troubles. Each day is another opportunity to start fresh. It is an opportunity. What we decide to do with that opportunity is up to us, but it is laid out in front of us full of choices. Will you chose love, or hatred? Will you chose to show kindness, or will you hold a grudge? Will you chose to extend mercy, or will you pass judgement? Every day comes with the opportunity to love, be kind, and be merciful. The question is, will you? Will you show it to build up your own self making kingdom, or to build up the weak and vulnerable around you? Are you seeking your own glory, or the glory of the ONE above all who deserves ALL glory! "To live is Christ and to die is gain." (Phil. 1:21) To live for Christ is the most fulfilling, life giving, and purposeful things that you can chose to do! For if we have Christ and lose everything else that we have ever known, we still have EVERYTHING!

Shot in Maywood Illinois. I wish I could say this was purposefully done but it was not. I will gratefully take what I am given.

A walkway down by Toronto's waterfront purposefully designed to create a walking challenge if you want.

I really love this band's sound with this lead singer, Florence Shaw. especially doing her talk singing and rambling. Live, Shaw has the strangest facial expressions and I think they can be quite purposeful but there was something about the way she held her hair here and seemed to be taking a breath that I liked a lot. Also, these nails!

I am not entirely happy with this but have started to use some images to satisfy a creative wish on my part. The few images I have used have alerted me to the fact that if you are doing this particular kind of editing it's pretty much essential to start with a technically well taken image. I do not include in this response creations purposely made in high or low key and so forth since - but they also result from a purposeful use of the camera settings and I do so like them. I am just a beginner in this kind of editing but I am finding it fun! I have several of this view and intend to try to create a much improved version. Here, you will note slight halo around the shard and areas that are too dark and have no detail.

A purposeful walk along Southsea promenade on a bright morning.

Black sand, rolling waves, distant mountains and a fabulous sunset what more could you ask for... oh yes a lone walking striding purposefully into the frame!!

My DD purposefully leaves the front door open with the storm door latched so Miracle can sleep in a sunny spot. Love how her legs and paws are subtly reflected in the door.

Happy Caturday : sleep

As everyone who has seen this bird have observed and sometimes commented, this individual has been remarkably confiding and will potter quite close in its search for a tasty morsel, even as close as 7-8 feet on Friday, completely unfazed by the presence of myself and Norman (Rice) when we were there taking photos, enabling quite detailed close up images.

However, such accommodating behaviour didn't include walking purposefully and directly towards the bird, as one passing couple rather idiotically and thoughtlessly did, which effectively ended our shoot as the bird was flushed up and flew over the adjacent wall.

Thank you for your comments and faves, which are much appreciated.

For my first grandchild's BD:)

.........stay safe and healthy. ❤️

Will be mainly in the countryside.

9 in numerology has a meaning and vibration of its own.

9 aligns with Universal love, Universal Spiritual Laws, Spiritual Awakening and Enlightenment, Service to Mankind, and Humanitarianism.

9 is also a number for those who live and lead in life by positive and soulful example. Making a positive impact in the world is a priority with a sense of selflessness.

9 vibrates your desire to live a purposeful life.

9 is SOUL mission work (you have to do what is your purpose). In other words , can not not do the work your soul is yearning for you to do!

9 is living with higher perspective, and tapping into your intuition and strength of character.

Photo taken by my friend, Andrew, in camp. We often make the short journey together. This time the journey was purposeful. To the table above the valley of the don. Who placed it is unknown. Thanks to this man! This is the highest point of the surrounding area and the types of provides beautiful..

Thanks for looking!

A through the viewfinder (TTV) shot (series). Used my 4 x 5 camera, which is gathering dust. I purposefully did not focus on the dandelions with the 4 x 5. Information on TTV can be found on the internet or ask me questions. The darker sides of the photo is from the shadow of the viewfinder's hood being cast on the viewfinder.

It’s time you learned something about mushrooms that even the most hardcore mycologist doesn’t know and that is this…mushrooms can be very sensitive. Silvia, in particular, was susceptible to the taunts of other mushrooms. They claimed she smelled so bad as if she purposefully grew next to horse manure. They said she looked as hard and ridged as a barn roof that was a hundred years old. They said that she was as wrinkly as an old maid who never knew love. And Silvia, well, you can imagine how hurt her feelings were and how she had no choice to turn herself inside out. That Silvia became one mighty mushroom ear and so all of those insults hurled at her bounced right back. Words began clinging to the edges of all the trees and all of the lichen and fungi surrounding them. The entire forest was in turmoil. Every mushroom saw itself for what it had become and was devastated.

Be kinder.

American Avocet walking with purpose. Elegant birds in my opinion.

A repost of this beautiful Green Heron. It is interesting to watch as they very slowly make their way, purposefully in pursuit of their next meal:)

Purposefully overexposed to bring nostalgic feel.

Loss of high value and shadow details along with increased graininess and reduced separation.

The light leak on the film was pure good luck.

The Greater Yellowlegs strides purposefully across mudflats and marshes with a distinctive high-stepping gait, occasionally breaking into a run to chase aquatic prey. Flight is strong and swift, with legs extending well beyond the tail, often accompanied by its strident chirpy call.

The Greater Yellowlegs occurs in a wide variety of wetland habitats in migration and winter, from tidal flats to sewage ponds to flooded fields. They are able to use wetlands with taller vegetation than other shorebirds can use, owing to their larger size. In summer, they breed throughout the boreal zone in boggy sloughs with small wooded islands and coniferous forests with wet clearings.

Defo something weird going on. You might be sick of Covid and The Rules. How about trees? Are you sick of those yet? Where's the slate I'm sure I hear you shout? And the goats?

Instead I've become a nemophilist, dendrologist, or dendrophile (does that offend anyone?)

Anyway: here's a head's up, conspiracy theorists!. Absolute MUST WATCH documentary on BB2 tomorrow night at 9.00pm about the Coronavirus pandemic.

Two brothers from the Wuhan Research Centre, where President Trump suspects it was engineered , were due to get on flight MH370 that mysteriously disappeared over the Indian Ocean.

The programme reports the two guys were behind the development of the new strain, and intending to use it as a weapon. Someone caught wind of their plans and purposefully downed the plane. But neither of them got on the flight though. It's really interesting. Have a look at it.

It's called Two Wongs Don't make a Flight.

Oh, well, trees again then

Species:Turdus pilaris.

Fieldfares are large, colourful thrushes, much like a mistle thrush in general size, shape and behaviour. They stand very upright and move forward with purposeful hops. They are very social birds, spending the winter in flocks of anything from a dozen or two to several hundred strong. These straggling, chuckling flocks which roam the UK's countryside are a delightful and attractive part of the winter scene. Info: RSPB.

Seven Days of low worth

Keep me hovering above the ground

The nights just blend into the morning

Definition is the first to go down

If I were to stay here between us

I might forget where I'm bound

So I can't stay in between us

Guess I'll walk away

I'm here to read the future

But forced to breathe out the past

And too many conversations

To uncover what was purposefully lost

I know we all look so desperate

Showing the guidance that we lack

And we used to be so wistful

I guess we feel it's safer holding back

If I were to stay here between us

I might forget where I'm bound

So I can't stay in between us

Guess I'll walk away

(azure ray / seven days)

We were out Kayaking with another couple in our tandem boats when others needed to pass. We had purposefully come to a tight inlet where seals could be seen sunbathing however, it was feeding time and none were present. Although minutes prior to this shot, one came to within 20 feet or our Kayak to have a peek at us, then bolted with a splash. All the basic colors were present, from red to green, from yellow to blue, and more. The entire spectrum delighted our eyes with a treasure trove of visual sensations.

breaking the rules purposefully here to show what I see as a balance between urban nature and urban industrial :)

The Cobra and the Eagle -

Bright sun dances across the shadow from the flowers, there is a cobra in the garden. It is brown, long, measured in its ways. It lives on the sunny side of the house.

I am standing, waiting to turn the corner, and I remember. I have seen her there, looked into her face, the tongue, seeing me, seeking me out. I have never seen her hood, but I know what she is, and she is, is at least, eight feet long.

I wait. She is gone, just warm sunshine, shadows flickering across the path. I move. No sign of her, she is gone, I move again, she is there. I feel her, but nothing stirs.

I am on the outside, side, facing the house, the veranda on my right, big welcoming doors, there is safety inside. A pergola extends, twisted boughs, leaves, full of fruit. The grapes hang, full, heavy, green and flashing gold, basking. In time, a sweet harvest awaits.

There is peace in the garden.

I take a step.

A movement, unlike any other, slow, measured. The birds are quiet. Slowly, she emerges from the shadow of the shrubs, under, near, beneath the willow tree. I can’t quite see. It is long, sleek, moving purposefully. It is her, the king. She with the venom, she with the lethal strike, she will judge if you are safe or snake.

I have considered having her removed, or even punished or locked away, but I cannot harm such a creature. She is my enemy, my protector, the eater of snakes.

Each time I harbor thoughts of her destruction, misfortune befalls me. I fall over nothing in the path, go flying into thorn trees on the trail, rip the skin from my arms and legs, the blood runs thick and heavy. This has happened not once, nor twice nor thrice, but so many times, in so many ways, that I need a diary to keep the count. I am so bloody and battered that I now no longer entertain such negativity.

I have noticed the lesson, it has caught my intention.

If it is an angel guiding me, then they certainly know the language of human, but I suspect it is my subconscious talking to me, and I do not know who my subconscious talks to, save to say, if I guide it into light, and keep it away from fear, then it brings me love and hope, or it brings me nightmares and pain.

She is stretched out in path ahead. I kneel. I look into her. I will not run nor interfere. I am reconciled to being kind and gentle to her.

There is an eagle nesting on our roof.

He swoops, claws arching, mortal combat uncoils between mortal foes. He lands. The snake glides toward him, she raises her head slightly. The eagle, large, flamboyant and majestic, lowers his head. They touch, top of head to top of head, beaks and fangs averted. Their heads press against each other, and I think I see them smile.

Strange, impossibly different, yet when pressed together, the feather and scale seem not so far apart.

A familiar figure appears to my left. He is the mender of hearts, he touches my arm, I understand, and he is gone.

Now there is no snake, no eagle, just two lovers joined who were once worlds apart.

Seems the outside does not reflect the heart, and there is often pain in being apart.

Mr Buckley does this so beautifully, never the less, I often rearrange this in my head. I would love to hear it performed on the piano with a female voice and violin to accompany. Usually would have suggest cello or clarinet, but it's such a soulful lyric that maybe a violin/fiddle would be better - might make the piano version a little longer :) www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMTEtDBHGY4 -

Annual trip to the Isle of May didnt disappoint (apart from maybe that there were no terns!) The puffins beaks were packed as full with sand eels as I have ever seen.
