Though looking rather old, this water level regulator is still in use. It is part of the water purification system established around 1882 in order to produce drinking water for Basel, Switzerland.

The temple compound consists of a petirtaan or bathing structure, famous for its holy spring water, where Balinese Hindus go to for ritual purification. Many people in religion think that they have admitted their sins and repented of them after believing in the Lord, so they have been redeemed, and been saved by grace. When the Lord comes, He will lift them up directly into the kingdom of heaven, and He cannot possibly do the work of purification and salvation. Does this view tally with the reality of God's work? It is said in the Bible: "Holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord" (Hebrews 12:14). Almighty God says: "You have missed a step in your belief in God: You have merely been redeemed, but have not been changed. For you to be after God’s heart, God must personally do the work of changing and cleansing you; if you are only redeemed, you will be incapable of attaining sanctity. The R.C. Harris Water Treatment Plant stands as one of Toronto’s most remarkable examples of Beaux-Arts civic architecture, completed in 1941. Designed by architect Thomas C. Varanasi (Inde) - En cette fin septembre 2023, le niveau du Gange est très haut. Les pluies tropicales sont les principales responsables. Pour les croyants, pas de problèmes. Un niveau très haut ou très bas, une eau chargée de limon et de bactéries, n’empêchent pas les hindous de faire leurs ablutions quotidiennes. Shiva veille.

Varanasi (India) - At the end of September 2023, the level of the Ganges is very high. Tropical rains are the main culprits. For believers, no problems. A very high or very low level, water loaded with silt and bacteria, do not prevent Hindus from performing their daily ablutions. Shiva keeps watch.

When entering inside a Shinto shrine, the visitor should perform a symbolic cleansing called temizu (from te “hand” and mizu “water” - water to purify the hands). This purification is considered indispensable before visiting the sacred area and it signifies the removal of evil and pollution. For the ritual, every shrine provides an ablution pavilion - chōzuya or temizuya - usually a stone basin filled with clear water, with wooden ladles.
How to properly perform temizu:
Take the ladle with your right hand, fill it with water and pour some water to rinse your left hand. Then, move the ladle to your left hand and pour water over the right hand. Now, take the ladle back into your right hand, cup the left hand, pour some water into it and use it to rinse your mouth. Finally, tip the ladle vertically to clean the handle, and replace it on the temizuya.
St Mary of the Purification, Blidworth, Nottinghamshire UK preserves an unusual custom whereby the baby born nearest to Christmas in the Village is ceremonially rocked in a flower-decorated crib on the first Sunday in February. This is supposed to represent the presentation of Baby Jesus to the Temple. This image was taken on December 17th, so 2023's chosen child's arrival is probably imminent! Rocking's Babies are added to a list of names on display in this tiny historic church which dates to the 15th Century.
