I went to the 2015 archives for this week's Fence Friday. It's a mobile puppet theatre that was parked in a plaza near Chicago's North Michigan Avenue. Unfortunately, there was no puppet show going on when I was there.

So Village

In North Vietnam a well preserved ancient village surrounds a small lake with a pagoda in the middle use for very clever puppets shows with music and fireworks.

I guess the woman on the left is the mother of the puppet master. The master performed in a place far from home, Together with her mother, Just like traveling. This puppet show is mainly to thank Mazu. Life is like a show, But, life can not be repeated.

Thanks all friends, happy weekend !

The puppets of freedom

Lugoj (Romania) - Another photo of the Lugoj orphanage. It was a doctor from the department of Eure (France), who had given the NGO run by artists the address of this Romanian orphanage that he had been sponsoring for years. On the program for this day of relaxation for children, music and a puppet show. Success guaranteed. Children were running around laughing. The staff quickly gave up trying to put some order in this big mess. These orphans, too, had the right to taste this new freedom that had come to the country, without warning.

It's not easy to photograph overexcited children. Especially since the photo had to show that it was a show, when most of the time the children were from behind. In these conditions, you have to stick your eye in the viewfinder, be very concentrated and arm yourself with patience.

Taken at A Very Viper Hell o’ween. And for those of you with a fear of clowns, you’re welcome.

I spotted this mobile puppet theatre parked in a plaza along Chicago’s North Michigan Avenue earlier this week, and found it interesting enough for a snap. Unfortunately, there was no show going on at the time. I did talk to the driver briefly before he rode away, and he was kind enough to let me take his photo, which I have posted in the first comment. His name isn’t Jack, though; it’s Michael. The operators’s Web site is puppetbike.com.

I went for a vintage toy-camera look with this image, which seemed appropriate for the subject, and I am submitting it for Our Daily Challenge: “Break The Rules,” namely, don’t place your subject in the center of the picture, and don't crop too close to your subject. :-)

Macro Mondays theme Childhood Toys.

Of all the favourite childhood toys mine were definitely Puppets and Puppet shows. This is a small pop-up clown puppet (the proportion shown here is 3x5cm). HMM...

This girl was clicked Spellbound at a Puppet Show recently at the Haryana Heritage Festival at Yadvindra Gardens Pinjore, Haryana North India.

I had to wait 10 minutes with my camera focused on her to catch this expression; she was oblivious.

The Puppeteer suddenly sling-ed the Snake Puppet out of the booth on which she reacted and CLICK!

Please excuse the size, I lost the original photo :(

I walked into the dark forgotten child's room, and steadily moved towards the center of the room to my surprise I came upon a curious puppet show already in progress. I was amused as the two puppets played tricks and made jokes at each others expense...and then what appeared to be a shocking end to the little production...they slit each others throats...it was a quick and bloody end...curiously amused I applauded and walked toward the little stage to congratulate the puppeteer, as I peered around the back I found there to be no puppeteer, only the two lifeless puppets lay in a small pool of fresh blood...I gasped and stepped back confused...the room then suddenly filled with the laughter of children, but I could not see them, it was sinister and playful laughing, and was all around me echoing from every corner and then it stopped as suddenly as it had started...As I was about to turn and leave a bright flash of light like a spark of electricity flashed once like a lightening strike behind the little stage but made no sound...and the puppet show began again...

A great place full of creativity for people who need a helping hand. The volunteers are enthusiastic. You feel at home and I was happy that I was allowed to photograph this.

Puppet Bike, Chicago

date stamped on slide, October 1965

I will be on and off of Flickr for a several days. I will leave you with this image which I hope will intrigue you. A sight that can only be seen in Vietnam and should make you feel like a child again. I will add similar scenes later and tell you more about this delightful Vietnamese art form.
