Many butterflies are still flitting about the garden. Although, I have to say the more migratory birds that join the bird show the fewer butterflies I see. Hmmm, I wonder why.
Today, it was rather easy to count the monarchs, there are fourteen out there enjoying the milkweed. I saw a giant swallowtail today, that's the first for a few days. Several zebra longwings are flitting about and there are still a few goldrims, sulfurs, gulf fritillaries, and so on. Speaking of goldrims, yes, I still have some in the pupae stage from earlier in the year. Those guys are so unpredictable. And yes, I am raising a few more. I must be a gluten for punishment.
The milkweed is in full bloom once again, it blooms in the spring and again in the fall. At least that is the case for milkweed here in my area of Central Florida. Soon there will be thousands of seeds to share with people that are interested.
I like to use wedding favor bags on the seed pods so I can capture the seeds when they are ready to disperse. That way I have some to distribute in authorized areas of the garden and can easily give some to friends and neighbors.

nearly 140 years ago a relative of mine received this book as a school prize for Arithmetic - but to me it would have been more of a punishment. It is a deadly boring history book and I doubt he read it - I couldn't even finish the first paragraph. It does look beautiful though.

Every hour of every day, the relentless waves pound the rocks and boulders on the tip of the Schoodic Peninsula in Maine. Photographed at Schoodic Point, the crown jewel of the peninsula, which is known for its dramatic coastline and crashing surf. The granite ledges and rocky outcrops provide excellent vantage points for observing the powerful Atlantic Ocean waves.

First described in mediaeval times, snails have long been used to protect precious belongings from being stolen. Thieves would find the valuables covered in slimy mucus - hence the origin of the term 'sticky fingers'. Potential thieves would pick up the slime on their hands, leading to arrest.
The image shows a Canon lens hood being protected by a snail, for Macro Mondays theme 'Photography Gear'.
No snails were harmed in the process of making this photograph.
...or was it simply demonstrating the pecking order to a young bird? About six Magpies were involved. Shortly after I captured this photo, a passerby caused them to take flight and perch on a tree, all in perfect harmony.

The convent was founded in 1181 by William of Pulín for the sisters of the Premonstrate Order. William of Pulín was forced to built this convent as a punishment for the depredation of monasteries and churches in Austria. In years 1330 - 1390 it was reconstructed into the gothic style and today you cen see well-preserved arches, key-stones and consoles there. The convent was burnt out during the Hussite wars and since the time we can speak about the decline of the convent. The efforts for the restoration of the convent in 17th century were dashed by fire in 1703. In 1808 the monument was sold to secular hands and in these days various cultural events take the playe there.

This poor bird had been mugged by a Kestrel, who stole her prey. She sat and preened before getting back to the hunt. I couldn't help but think she looked miserable!

Stormtrooper Steve had disobeyed a direct order and instead of the usual punishment of death, Lord Vader had instructed him to right out the saying "Vader is always right" 1000 times. Lord Vader had become very lax in his punishments lately.

Every year I teach a unit on editing photos and the final project is to create a composite image based on fantasy/surrealistic art. Usually always do the projects with them because it keeps them motivated. This was this year’s piece. Had a lot of fun working on this story — which is from a dream I had in late 2020.
