A friend of my wife turned 90 today and I got a slab of carrot cake. My vision has improved already.
I grew up in a place where I could walk to the local French bakery also the German, Italian and later Philippine bakeries. Suburban Florida has well really no bakeries to speak of. Publix does a fair job and the carrot cake is their best product.

Here's an old Publix in the Woodlawn part of St. Pete. It looks like Family Dollar has done a nice job renovating the place.
