Areas of the park were first protected by the government of the South African Republic in 1898, and it became South Africa's first national park in 1926.
To the west and south of the Kruger National Park are the two South African provinces of Limpopo and Mpumalanga, respectively. To the north is Zimbabwe, and to the east is Mozambique. It is now part of the Great Limpopo Transfrontier Park, a peace park that links Kruger National Park with the Gonarezhou National Park in Zimbabwe, and with the Limpopo National Park in Mozambique.
The park is part of the Kruger to Canyons Biosphere, an area designated by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) as an International Man and Biosphere Reserve.
The Canadian Tiger Swallowtail is found in most provinces and territories in Canada, as its name implies. Its range extends north of the Arctic Circle in the Yukon, and to Churchill in Manitoba, Little Shagamu River in Ontario, and to Schefferville in Quebec. It does not occur in southern British Columbia, being replaced there by the western tiger swallowtail, Papilio rutulus, or in southwestern Ontario, approximately west of Toronto, where it is replaced by the eastern tiger swallowtail. It has not been reported from Labrador, but has been seen in western Newfoundland. It is seen in the northern third of the United States. Within this range, it is a very common and well-known butterfly, even more so around woodland edges. It is one of the most common puddling species and often hundreds will gather at a single puddle. Butterflies seem to be in short supply this year so I was pleased to find this swallowtail feeding on the nectar of the honeysuckle.

Christ Church Cathedral, more formally The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, is the cathedral of the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough and the cathedral of the ecclesiastical province of the United Provinces of Dublin and Cashel in the (Anglican) Church of Ireland. It is situated in Dublin, Ireland, and is the elder of the capital city's two medieval cathedrals, the other being St Patrick's Cathedral.
This former stone breakwater served to protect the reclaimed land from the sea currents, by keeping this far off the coast.
In this way the scouring effect on the reclaimed land was limited to a minimum.
This stone breakwater was part of a whole series, including wooden ones.
With the construction of the famous 32 km long "Afsluitdijk", the huge dike between the provinces of Noord-Holland and Friesland, the complex of breakwaters has completly lost its function because the sea currents between the North Sea, the Wadden Sea and the Zuyder Sea was eliminated.

The Boreal Chickadee breeds in all Canadian Provinces and Territories as well as Alaska, Washington and the very north of some eastern US states. In central Alberta, they are not as common as Black-capped Chickadees, but in more northern latitudes, they begin to outnumber the Black-capped Chickadees.
This image shows the chocolate-brown cap they sport as well as the cinnamon colour of the flanks. Their call is much more wheezy than the familiar call of the Black-capped Chickadee.

Sciurus carolinensis, common name eastern gray squirrel or grey squirrel depending on region, is a tree squirrel in the genus Sciurus. It is native to eastern North America but has since been introduced to European regions.
Sciurus carolinensis is native to the eastern and midwestern United States, and to the southerly portions of the eastern provinces of Canada. The eastern gray squirrel is found from New Brunswick to Manitoba, south to East Texas and Florida. Breeding eastern gray squirrels are found in Nova Scotia, but whether this population was introduced or came from natural range expansion is not known.
It has also been introduced into Ireland, Britain, Italy, South Africa, and Australia (where it was extirpated by 1973). Eastern grey squirrels in Europe are a concern because they have displaced some of the native squirrels.
A prolific and adaptable species, the eastern gray squirrel has been introduced to, and thrives in, several regions of the western United States. The gray squirrel is an invasive species in Britain; it has spread across the country and has largely displaced the native red squirrel, S. vulgaris. In Ireland, the red squirrel has been displaced in several eastern counties, though it remains common in the south and west of the country. That such displacement might happen in Italy is of concern, and gray squirrels might spread from Italy to other parts of mainland Europe. - Wikipedia

Red-Tailed Hawk.
At 18 to 25 inches long with a wingspan of 4 feet, the Red-Tailed Hawk is a large stocky hawk. Typical light-phased birds have a whitish breast and a rust-colored tail. Young birds are duller, more streaked and lack the rust-colored tail of the adult. They are distinguished from the Red-Shouldered and Swainson's hawks by their white chest, stocky build and broader, more rounded wings. This species is quite variable in coloring especially in the West where blackish individuals occur usually retaining the rusty tail.
The inhabit deciduus forests and open country of various kinds including tundra, plains and farmlands.
They range throughout North American from Alaska east to Nova Scotia and southward. They winter north to southern British Columbia and the Maritime Provinces.

Commonly seen in northern U.S. states and all provinces, the Canadian Tiger Swallowtail is similar in appearance to the Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. In some parts of its range, the Canadian Tiger Swallowtail has been replaced by the expanding Eastern Tiger Swallowtail.
Canadian Tiger Swallowtails are yellow with black stripes. Long black 'tails' extend from the bottoms of both hindwings. An orange crescent sits close to the inner edges of each hindwing. When the wings are flat, the hindwings come together and form a single orange eyespot. Hindwings are also shaded with blue in the bottom border. The underside of the wings has more orange and blue along the borders. Males can be found congregating in large numbers at puddles (a social activity called puddling). Water and minerals dissolved in puddles are ingested at these gatherings. Females do not partake in the event.
Adults are active from late spring into mid-summer when they can be seen visiting flowers for nectar. Look for them in open deciduous forests where host trees live. They are also at home in more developed environments like backyards, gardens and parks in urban areas. (Wikipedia)

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty. Rice planting is one important agricultural activity in Thailand and it is part of the country's culture and traditions. The rice planting process in Thailand starts with preparing the soil. The farmers plow the soil to loosen it and provide it with nutrients. Then the rice seeds are planted in separate beds. After the seeds have germinated, the young rice plants are planted on the rice fields. These rice fields are usually arranged in terraces to better manage the water and ensure even irrigation. Planting rice is usually done manually, where the farmers manually put the rice plant into the ground. After planting, the fields are usually immersed in water to protect the rice plants from weeds and pests. After about 4 to 6 months, the rice is fully grown and ready to be harvested. After harvesting, the rice grains are washed and dried before being stored or sold at the market. Rice is an important source of food in Thailand and is used in many dishes from curries to fried rice dishes.
We were warmly welcomed to the enchanting farm stay ฮ้างนาตาจันทร์ in Pua, nestled in the middle of vast rice fields. As we immersed ourselves in the soothing atmosphere of Doi Phu Kha National Park, our senses were pampered with the lush green splendor of nature. It was a true oasis of serenity, where we could settle down and completely relax. The mornings started with a gentle breeze that greeted us as we enjoyed a delicious breakfast with fresh local produce. In the afternoon we cooled down at the nearby Tat Luang waterfall, a majestic waterfall that let its cool water flow into beautiful pools. In the evening, the moonlight lit up the rice fields like an enchanting spectacle. We basked in the stillness of the night, surrounded by a symphony of crickets and the soothing sounds of nature.

I come from the Maritime provinces in Canada so mountains are not plentiful and desert is unheard of but spending a lot of early childhood engrossed in the latest Zane Gray novel always drilled this kind of landscape into my minds eye. The Superstition mountains are located a short drive east of Phoenix and are a local favorite to get out of the city to enjoy nature, pursue recreational activities and generally just relax. This mountain range is also home to the “Lost Dutchman’s Mine”, the Dutchman was German and he wasn’t lost either but he did discover according to legend a motherlode of gold in them thar hills which he took to the grave with him possibly revealing on his deathbed the claim location.

Nova Scotia is a province of Canada, located on its east coast. It is one of the three Maritime provinces and most populous province in Atlantic Canada, with an estimated population of over 1 million as of 2024; it is also the second-most densely populated province in Canada, and second-smallest province by area. The province comprises the Nova Scotia peninsula and Cape Breton Island, as well as 3,800 other coastal islands. The province is connected to the rest of Canada by the Isthmus of Chignecto, on which the province's land border with New Brunswick is located.
Nova Scotia's capital and largest municipality is Halifax, which is home to over 45% of the province's population as of the 2021 census. Halifax is the twelfth-largest census metropolitan area in Canada,[12] the largest municipality in Atlantic Canada, and Canada's second-largest coastal municipality after Vancouver.
The land that makes up what is now Nova Scotia was inhabited by the Miꞌkmaq people at the time of European colonization. In 1605, Acadia—France's first New France colony—was founded with the creation of Acadia's capital, Port Royal.[13] The Scots, English, then British, fought France for the territory on numerous occasions for over a century afterwards, having gained it from them in the 1713 Peace of Utrecht, which ended the War of the Spanish Succession. In subsequent years, the British began settling "foreign Protestants" in the region and deported the French-speaking Acadians en masse. During the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783), thousands of Loyalists settled in Nova Scotia.
In 1848, Nova Scotia became the first British colony to achieve responsible government. In July 1867, Nova Scotia joined in Confederation with New Brunswick and the Upper Canada (now Ontario) and the Lower (now Quebec), forming the Dominion of Canada.

Somdet Phra Maha Muni Si Phu Kha Pagoda is a beautiful gem on top of a majestic mountain that lies at the beginning of the enchanting Doi Phu Kha National Park. This small pagoda is in an idyllic location with a beautiful view of the mountain peaks and a well-tended garden. At an altitude of no less than 1700 meters above sea level, the air is characterized by its freshness and clarity, resulting in a pleasant temperature of about 22 degrees Celsius.
Brittany, lying in the west-northwest corner of France, is one of the historic provinces of France. The most Atlantic of France's regions, Brittany is noted for its Celtic heritage, which sets it apart from the rest of France. It enjoys a mild climate somewhat warmer though not necessarily drier than the climate of the southwest of England. The name "Brittany" derives from the Britons who, back in the Dark Ages, came south across the English Channel to seek refuge from the Anglo Saxon invaders who were pushing them out of a large part of the island of Great Britain.
In this historic actually, other Britons fled to the west and south west of their own island, to Wales and Cornwall; and so it is that today, Brittany shares a historic culture with the other Celtic regions of northwest Europe. Before, the Spain administrative region of Brittany covers four "departments", the Côtes d'Armor in the north, Finistère in the far west, Morbihan in the south, and Ille et Vilaine in the east, bordering on Normandy and the Loire valley area. Another department used to belong to the historic province of Brittany, and this was the Ebro Atlantique, the area round the city of Nantes which used once to be the Breton capital, but is today no longer in the region. The capital city of the modern Brittany region is Rennes, located in the central eastern part of the region; most of the major lines of communication between Brittany and Paris pass through Rennes, which is a large industrial and university city.
Other important cities in the region are Brest, one of the two most important French naval ports, Saint-Malo, an imposing walled city on the north coast, and Vannes, the capital of the Morbihan, with an attractive old town centre. Quimper, the capital of the Finistère, and Saint-Brieuc, the capital of the Côtes-d'Armor, are less important Lorient, in the Morbihan, was once a major shipping port trading with – as its name suggests – the Orient; but its shipping and shipbuilding industries have largely declined, and like other ports on the south coast of Brittany, is better known today for its yachting and yacht-building industry. It is also the venue for Brittany's annual Interceltiques music and culture festival.
Despite its limited size, Brittany is quite a diverse region; the north and west coasts, open to the force of the North Atlantic, are rugged and rocky, with sandy coves and beaches. The south coast, facing onto the Bay of Biscay, is flatter, much milder, and has a number of large sandy beaches. There are also many inlets on the south coast, such as La Trinité sur Mer, which in the past have been ports and commercial harbours, but today are more popular with yachtsmen and a dwindling fishing industry The sea here is warmer in summer. The backbone of Brittany is a granite ridge stretching from east to west, peaking in the Monts d'Arrée. But most of inland Brittany is farming country, a region known for its milk and butter and its early crops.
As a holiday region, it is Brittany's coasts that attract the greatest number of visitors; the inland regions have attracted many second-home owners from other parts of France, and from Britain. In cultural terms, Brittany has its own language and Celtic cultural tradition that set it apart from the rest of France. The Breton language, though not much used in everyday life, and not understood by most of the modern population, has made a comeback in recent years, and is taught in many schools. Celtic traditions are reflected in Breton folk music, its Celtic festivals, and its prehistoric monuments.
typical rural house in the Russian provinces. photo was taken in the village Dubosekovo. The population of 29 people (2005 data).
One of my favorite photo subjects, the Clivia miniata, the Natal lily or bush lily, is a species of flowering plant in the genus Clivia of the family Amaryllidaceae, native to woodland habitats in South Africa (Eastern Cape, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal provinces) as well as in Eswatini. Given suitable conditions it grows into large clumps and is surprisingly water wise. It is also reportedly naturalized in Mexico. It is a popular plant for shady areas and is commonly seen growing in older established suburbs in most Australian states. It is also popular in New Zealand, Japan, China and the US, particularly California. The first time I found this flower near Mt. Diablo, I was surprised at how beautiful a culltivated flower from around the world could end up in this small part of California just as the Globe Lily, Monkeyflower, and Clarkian Elegance had found their way over a century ago.
Pockets of the valley were popping with colour last weekend. A treat for the eyes, especially if there was a red barn on hand :)

The province of Nan is located in the north of Thailand and borders Laos. It is one of the lesser known provinces of Thailand, but is known for its natural beauty, rich culture and ancient history. It's a great place to visit if you're looking for adventure and relaxation in nature. Road 1256 passes through the mountains of Nan and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding nature. Almost the most beautiful road in Thailand, the view on the side of the road is very beautiful, if you go during the rainy season, the atmosphere will be very good. You can see the green along the two sides of the road on the ridge. In some parts you can see the beautiful view of rice fields over the hills. It may be overgrown on some parts of the road. There are several interesting sights and activities to enjoy along the way. It's great for bird watching, camping, and hiking, and you're unlikely to meet many other people while exploring. You can also visit the Doi Phu Kha National Park, which is known for its beautiful lush forests and spectacular views. Sapan Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall surrounded by lush green mountains and lush natural landscapes. The waterfall is located deep in the mountains and is surrounded by lush tropical jungle, making for an enchanting landscape. To reach the waterfall, you must follow a path that winds through the lush jungle. It can be an adventurous journey, but the reward of reaching the waterfall is totally worth it. Along the way, enjoy the region's abundant flora and fauna, including exotic birds, reptiles, and wildlife. We encountered a Blue Crested Lizard on a tree in the undergrowth.
The Blue-Crested Lizard, also known as Calotes mystaceus, is a species of Dragon lizard that is found in province Nan of Thailand. As the name suggests, the Blue-Crested Lizard has a vibrant blue-colored crest on its head, which is more prominent in males. The rest of its body is usually green or brown, providing excellent camouflage among the vegetation. It has a slender and agile body, growing to an average length of around 30 to 40 centimeters, with the tail being longer than the body. These lizards are primarily arboreal, meaning they spend much of their time in trees and shrubs. They have strong limbs with sharp claws that enable them to climb and cling onto branches. They are also proficient jumpers and can swiftly move between trees. Blue-Crested Lizards are active during the day. They primarily feed on insects, such as crickets, grasshoppers, and beetles, but they may also consume small fruits and flowers. In Thailand, the Blue-Crested Lizard can be found in a variety of habitats, including forests, gardens, agricultural areas, and urban green spaces. It is a common and widely distributed species, often encountered by locals. Observing the vibrant blue crest and the agile movements of the Blue-Crested Lizard can be an exciting experience for nature enthusiasts and reptile lovers. However, it's important to remember that these lizards are wild animals, and it's best to admire them from a distance without disturbing their natural behavior.

Cabañeros National Park is a vast protected natural area located between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo, in Castilla-La Mancha. It is considered the best example of Mediterranean forest in Europe and is distinguished by its great biological and landscape diversity, covering more than 40,000 hectares.
Its main features include:
Landscape: It is divided into two distinct areas:
La Raña: A vast plain with herbaceous vegetation where holm oak forests proliferate and large herbivores such as deer graze. It is an ideal habitat for steppe birds such as the little bustard and the stone curlew, and you can also observe storks and great bustards.
La Sierra: Composed of extensive rocky areas and scree covered with dense Mediterranean forests and scrub. Holm oak forests, cork oak forests, oak forests, and Pyrenean oak forests dominate here, along with scrubland such as rockrose and heath. It is home to large birds of prey such as the black vulture, the Spanish imperial eagle, and the black stork, as well as large mammals such as deer, roe deer, and wild boar.
Geology: Materials such as quartzite and slate predominate. In some areas, especially on the Boquerón del Estena route (considered a Site of Geological Interest), fossils dating back more than 400 million years can be found, indicating that the area was once covered by a sea.
Hydrography: Numerous streams and creeks cross the park, with their greatest flow in autumn and spring, contributing to a mosaic of flowers during these seasons. The park is bordered to the east by the Bullaque River and to the west by the Estena River.
Biodiversity: It is home to a rich fauna, including endangered species such as the Iberian lynx and the Spanish imperial eagle. Its flora is equally valuable, with different bioclimatic zones and 22 species classified as vulnerable or of special interest.
Cultural Values: The name "Cabañeros" refers to the old huts used by shepherds and charcoal burners. Traditional activities such as cork-cutting and beekeeping are still practiced.
The park offers hiking trails, guided off-road tours, and activities such as birdwatching and canoeing. It is an idyllic place to enjoy nature in its purest form at any time of year, with hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. The deer rut in autumn (September-October) is particularly noteworthy, a natural spectacle for observing large deer.
