Last day luck - we're greeted with a glorious morning on the last day in Valensole after a couple of rainy / cloudy days previously. And as we're packing up a hot-air balloon popping over to add a perfect finishing touch to one of the most beautiful lavender fields of Provence.

We were visiting friends in the Drôme/Vaucluse departments over the Easter weekend and on Monday morning they took us to this huge farm in Jonquières which grew tulips - field after field of them which is not something you expect in Provence. This photo was taken in the area by the farmhouse where they had food trucks and food stalls. About 500m away you could walk amongst the tulips and pick up what you wanted for a very reasonable price. Unfortunately, on Sunday night storms ravaged the area and the fields were terribly waterlogged with thick claggy mud so we walked only so far before we beat a hasty retreat back to the spot where I took this photo. I managed to take one photo of the tulips with my zoom lens.
Aix-en-Provence, the home of Paul Cezanne and Emile Zola, is a town drenched in history. The tree lined streets are often filled with markets offering soaps, art, linens and a wide variety of food. This is a place where charm and history become one. This photograph shows just one of the many fountains located within the town.
