Botanical notes.

☞"Catharanthus roseus — commonly known as annual vinca, Madagascar periwinkle, periwinkle rose, running myrtle — is an evergreen herbaceous plant in the dogbane family (Apocynaceae), native to Madagascar. It is also widely cultivated and naturalized in subtropical and tropical areas of the world, such as the United States.

The leaves are oval to oblong, glossy green, hairless, and arranged in opposite pairs. The flowers range from white with a red (or yellow) center to dark pink with a darker red center, with five petal-like lobes."

Supertunia petunias are vigorous with slightly mounded habits that function as both fillers and spillers in containers. They are also excellent landscape plants, best suited to be placed near the front of beds. They have medium to large flowers.

Recently discovered this Evolvulus genus wildflower in one of my flower beds. Researching the plant, I came across the curious, but appropriate name in the title. A truly eerie blue Evolvulus hybrid.
