Recently I took a short two weeks vacation to India to visit family and friends. Most of the pictures I took were of people in India. I'll be posting some of these images as I go along.
This was taken very early in the morning in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. A family from the state of Bihar. They were on their way to some place; I stopped them and asked for a family photo and they gladly said yes.

I was gifted a box of crayons by a female friend few years back... I had not even opened it until today... the 61st birthday of Free India... I drew this, set it up... took many shots in different angles... Liked this one the most... a few strokes dedicated to Independence...
This photo was taken on Republic day at Govt school near Nelamangala where my mom serves as Headmistress. Since i did not click anything today :( thought of posting this one :) I love this kid expression very much.

I met Akthar and his two co-workers who were filling up the bank of a small river with large stones and sand so that they could get a good foundation for constructing a house there. The way they were carrying the stones was using the big bamboo stick you see on his shoulder. I had a long chat with these guys before I took some pictures and headed off on my way.
And now I sit back and wonder what is heavier than those big heavy stones he was carrying that the modern mortals carry on their minds everyday?

The magnificent passing out parade of the IMA at Dehradun – there are some moments that make you really proud of being an Indian – this is one.
This was the 76th passing out parade from the IMA and was held on Saturday, Dec 13, 2008… in the shadow of the Mumbai terror attacks. Obviously heavy security arrangements were made this time around IMA for the parade…..but this is proof that India continues to produce fine officers who can reply the enemy in more ways than one.
Today, we Indians celebrate our 59th Independence Day and remember and salute all who made it possible for our generation to be born in a free country.
To celebrate we painted the fence at CMU which was organized by AID, Pittsburgh. AID - Association of India's Development is a volunteer-based organization which works at grassroots development in India. AID has 40 chapters in the US, 8 chapters in India, and few in Australia, Europe and Canada.
Today we celebrate our 60th Independence day.
Like every year, we celebrated it by painting the fence.
...who sacrified their being for the people of their country and even those who by their sheer talent and love for the country, made INDIA and INDIANS proud...!!!
