reflecting on her reflection and the guy she appears to be looking at but never saw .. a poignant moment in a dad's life signifying all the bittersweetness of watching her grow up.

Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you right on the head
You better get yourself together
Pretty soon you gonna be dead
What in the world you're thinking of
Laughing in the face of love?
What on earth are you trying to do?
It's up to you - yeah you
Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna look you right in the face
Better get yourself together darling
Join the human race
How in the world you gonna see
Laughing at fools like me?
Who in the hell do you think you are?
A superstar? Well, right you are
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Everyone come on
Instant karma's gonna get you
Gonna knock you off your feet
Better recognize your brothers
Everyone you meet
Why in the world are we here?
Surely not to live in pain and fear
Why in earth are you there
When you're everywhere?
Come and get your share
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Come on and on and on on on
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Yeah we all shine
On and on and on on on
Yeah we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the s
Yeah we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun
Well we all shine on
Like the moon and the stars and the sun

REMEMBER TO VOTE!!! (go obama!!!)
My 12 year old daughter did this sketch of an eye as part of a school project, and I was so impressed I felt the need to share!
#ProudDad!!
Laura is quite proud of her freckles and when I showed her a version of this shot without them, she simply said "No I don't like that." This was also shot with the flash off the camera to light up the back wall.
Thanks to all for making this shot hit Explore
Back in May, Fabe's team (Fabe is Fabstr on Flickr) lost in the under-11 cup final. Here's Fabe (he's on the right) and the rest of the team celebrating their success.
I love this shot for what it says about the joy of participating, about camaraderie, about team spirit and about the importance of leadership. Fabe was a great captain of his team and the coaches were amazing - it was their attitude, instilled in the boys, that meant that these eleven year old kids could show so much joy, even in the wake of defeat. If only the grown-ups were as wise!
You can win and not succeed. But everyone who succeeds is a winner.

This Christmas I adopted a brand new baby wooden child. He refuses to eat and hasn’t moved all day... but he’s fine, and totally alive.

Friday was #proudDad day as my super-talented daughter graduated from the University of Winchester with a BA in Media Production.
You can see some of her work here.
She's now doing a Masters degree so we'll get to enjoy the whole day again next year.
While we were waiting for the ceremony to start I spotted the sun shining nicely on the arches and snapped this shot with my little Lumix TZ60.

My elder daughter Sofía, 8 years of pure joy and kindness. I cannot be more proud of the arguably "most beautiful hispano-brazilian-girl-in-the-world".

A little girl's character can really change quickly at an impressionable age. Molly was a party girl in Act 1 and an Angel in Act 2.
I know you're probably thinking, "well, at least she didn't change from an Angel to a Party Girl." But you have to realize, there were 9 performances, so although, I thought my party girl had gone good, when the curtain opened on each performance, she'd begun partying again.
Being the parent of a tween-age daughter is no walk-in-the-park.

With the week 2 theme being treasured there's only one thing for me, my two beautiful daughters. Every moment spent with them is something I treasure, creating memories as I watch them grow and mature, making me proud every day.
This was another moment in Project Get-Back-To-Doing-Stuff-You-Enjoy-And-Do-Less-Of-The-Shit-That-Has-been-Keeping-You-Busy.
My last post was of a dugong. This post is of a dugong. There is a reason why I’m putting up multiple posts of dugongs… they are amazing, beautiful creatures. That, and the fact that I thought I’d never see one while I was scuba diving.
So, time to bore/interest you with some facts…
-It is one of four living species of the order Sirenia, which also includes three species of manatees.
-It is the only living representative of the once-diverse family Dugongidae; its closest modern relative, Steller's sea cow, was hunted to extinction in the 18th century.
-With its long lifespan of 70 years or more, and slow rate of reproduction, the dugong is especially vulnerable to extinction.
-Because they are shy, and do not approach humans, little is known about dugong behaviour.
-Dugongs are more closely related to elephants than other marine mammals
-Dugongs once inhabited the water of the Mediterranean, but probably died out due to the rise of cvilizations
-Other common local names include "sea cow", "sea pig" and "sea camel" and Horace*
*Horace is a madcap adventurer who has gone to space and back. His exploits are being documented by the equally insane Brian + H & H .

I cannot get enough of her cute little smile,
Getting this shot only took a short while.
Marley on the longue laying looking at her dad,
A few funny words and a big smile we had!
I took this shoot of Marley recently and entered it into the Bonds Baby Search. I’m not in the competition to win it but as a proud father, super keen to show his little girl to the world!
BUT If you want you can follow this link and vote for Marley . Voting closes March 18th.

Graduation days are always busy so we shot his two weeks after Graduation and about a 2 hour plane trip from where she graduated. Our choice for the shot her pose. One flash off the camera

Let's do something awesome.
And here the moment that makes it official...my daughter is a high school graduate and alumni of Cookeville High School. Congratulations Maddie for all your accomplishments and your driven, hard work. I cannot wait to see what God has planned for the next chapter of your life!!
For the first time in 20 years, we will not have a student in the elementary, middle, or high school system. Feels a little weird at this point but something I will definitely get used to...until the college tuition's start rolling in!?!
