From the stony outcropping and overlook with a view to the north-northwest. This setting with the New River floating by as a leading line into the image and national park landscape. I decided to angle my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward and create a more sweeping view looking across the river gorge and valley. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 4 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
A photo taken on the return leg of our hike along the PR1 footpath through the mountains of Madeira. As can be seen most of the sections of track that offer sizeable declivities now have some degree of fencing to protect the unwary.
This really was a popular route and I guess that the authorities do have to content with more than their fair share of accidents and injuries so I cant really blame them. That being said it would have been so much better without the paving and fencing.

Angelino Heights is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Los Angeles, CA. Carroll Avenue, a block south of this house located on the corner of Kellam Ave. and Douglas Street, has the largest collection of vintage restored Victorian homes on one street in the city, and the whole neighborhood is a protected historical site.

Ich fotografierte an einer tollen, bereits am Vortag ausgesuchten Stelle am Ende einer langen Bergab-Geraden, direkt vor einer scharfen Haarnadelkurve. Plötztlich, wie ein Blitz aus heiterem Himmel, war besonders lauter Motorenlärm zu hören. Gleichzeitig kamen DC im Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR (mehr als 10 Millionen EUR Versicherungswert!), Stirling Moss' Original-Siegerauto, und knapp dahinter Mika Häkkinen mit dem brandneuem, am Vortag erstmals in Brescia präsentierten Mercedes McLaren SLR Edition Stirling Moss mit hohem Renntempo auf der Geraden daher gerast. Das Foto zeigt den konzentrierten DC beim starken Abbremsen vor der Haarnadelkurve. Ich drückte reflexartig den Auslöser und schon waren die beiden ultra raren Super-Autos auch schon wieder hinter der anschließenden Kurve in Richtung Sansepolcro verschwunden. Der ganze Spuck dauerte nur wenige Sekunden. Mir erschien es wie ein Angriff zweier tieffliegender Kampfjets... Ein wirklich beeindruckendes und unvergessliches Erlebnis.

I spent Labor Day weekend in Louisiana and was lucky enough to tour and visit this fantastic place while I was there. Oak Alley Mansion and Plantation is a historic plantation located on the Great Mississippi River Road near the community of Vacherie, Louisiana. It is protected as a National Historic Landmark. It gets it's name after its distinguishing feature, an alley or canopied path created by a double row of live oaks about 800 feet (240 meters) long that was planted in the early 18th century, long before the present house was built. The "alley" of trees seen here runs between the house and the Mississippi River. The live oaks are evergreen, holding their leaves throughout the winter months. In spring, old leaves drop off and new leaves are formed. The oldest live oaks in the country are estimated to be between several hundred to over a thousand years old... Your visits and comments are always appreciated. Happy weekend and I'm hoping to catch up with everyone soon.
Another night shot I took. This time from a castle in the mountains. Unfortunately the ISO was a bit high and the shot is wide open and therefore not as crisp as the other one. But I love the glow, the life reflected on the mountains. The mountains are like a protective wall around the villages.
Processed with the Lightroom 4 Beta. Lightroom 4's 2012 process has a completely new raw development engine allowing for a more detailed control of exposure, highlights, shadows etc.

Snow (Fameuse) apples in the Picardo P-Patch, Seattle, Washington. These are dwarf trees, which makes picking easy! We took off the nets (to protect from birds and bugs) and gathered several bushels. The Macouns are almost ready!

Shortly after taking photos of the crescent moon, we noticed SW Missouri's sky aglow. The solar activity created wonderful red streaks across the norhtern sky.

This female Summer Tanager (Piranga rubra) was another of the birds in and around the water garden's stream. This gal was in the house's shadow and was only there for three frames. There were three different migrating species (four if you count the Northern flicker who is year round) in the yard at the same time. With the exception of the flicker, none have been seen before or after.
Captured in a seedy area of south Phoenix. Didn’t stick around too long after shooting. This is the same car in the background of one of my recent toy shoots.
