At first I could not read this, it's like tagging, I just have trouble reading it - I finally asked him - it says "Protector". He is in the military, the other arm says "Savior".
"From the personal logs of Protector Class ARC Trooper 018 "Galaar"..."
" It was 0200 and three days until our deployment to Geonosis when Mandalorian Cuy'val Dar member Vhonte Tervho, my mentor and training Sergeant summoned my squad to a nearby classroom. She hadn't specified why, nor was it my place to ask, but that didn't stop me from being curious. The barracks gossip from other squads described Mandalorian Sergeants putting their troopers through pre-battle "rituals" the previous night. That couldn't be it though, sure Sergeant Tervho followed the Mandalorian Resol'nare, but hazing her troops just nights prior to their first battle wasn't her style. Maybe she had one last lesson for us, one critical piece of advice that would carry us through what was to come, that seemed more likely. I entered the classroom along with several of my brothers, we had all trained under Vhonte, and had all been tasked with the destruction of a Techno Union tank foundry during the coming battle. The Mandalorian Sergeant stood behind a small holotable in the far corner of the classroom speaking with another Mandalorian in a hushed voice, I didn't recognize him, sure he could be Cuy'val Dar from one of the other facilities, but something about him was off, his armor was dirty caked in a thin red dust. The Mandalorians of the Cuy'val Dar cleaned their armor regularly in order to maintain a dress appearance while here on Kamino. Keeping my curiously to myself I lined up with the other troopers, a hodgepodge of armor, and garrison uniforms and waited. Eventually she turned away from the unknow Mandalorian and addressed us.
"Troopers it's been an honor being your mentor over these last couple years, before you go off to battle in three days I have one last lesson and one gift to give you. Preparation is everything, with proper preparation you will always be able to take down any mark and accomplish any task. The leadership of this army has neglected to prepare you for this battle and have decided to send you in blind. This will not do, I won't have my soldiers march blindly onto an unknow battlefield to be slaughtered, especially over some Jedi. This here is a colleague of mine from Mandalore, he owed me a favor and was kind enough to recon the factory which you've been tasked with destroying. Take notes troopers, this information will serve you well. You will be the best soldiers this galaxy has seen in a long time and will be the pride of not only the Republic, but of us few who had the honor of raising you, I know you are ready for what's to come. Oya Mando'ade, Oya.
And with that she stepped back and the other Mandalorian stepped forward and activated the holotable. The table displayed a detailed schematic of the tank factory on Geonosis, our target. I did my best to commit every inch of that factory to memory as the Mandalorian briefed us, some of the information wasn't even mission critical, but as Sergeant Tervho had said, it pays to be prepared. The briefing ended several hours later, just in time for morning mess and before we left Sergeant Tervho once again told us just how proud of us she was and that we were more than ready to tackle anything the Geonosians could throw at us. I left the room beaming with pride, feeling invincible, Geonosis felt like it would be a cake walk, nothing more than just another one of the thousands of simulations we had drilled during training. Victory felt guaranteed, well at least up until I made it to the mess hall and saw what they were serving."

Coming off of a pretty rough period of builders block, so I'm hopping that I can pump out another build or two before I leave for a month due to work. As for this build, it's defiantly nothing special, or very good, but necessary to advance Galaar's story within the 253rd. Let me know what you guys think, an d I promise not to take a week to write the story.
As always, thanks for stopping by!

For to wish to forget how much you loved someone – and then, to actually forget – can feel, at times, like the slaughter of a beautiful animal who chose, by nothing short of grace, to make a habitat of your heart.

I've been spending some quality time with my inner bear lately. I miss the hugs. So, since I can't have one physically, I thought I'd photoshop one instead <3
I've been doing well, but I'm in a bit of a weird headspace at the moment. I'm not sad, but nor am I as happy as I used to be - obviously before It Happened I had all the reasons in the world to be happy, but I feel like I'm in a bit of a grey area between holding on and moving on. Not one part of me wants to let go to anything, any of the memories, any of the love. I fully accept I'll meet someone else eventually, but I hope it will be more of an addition than a replacement of love. I'm questioning whether I'm entirely open to letting someone in (especially following the nightmare of what happened back in December) and whether that's prohibiting me from letting other good stuff in.
Things for me to think about, anyway! Being able to look at it all objectively and monitor myself is quite interesting and makes the whole experience less painful, anyway :-)

HMC Protector is a Border Force (custom) cutter of the United Kingdom. Seen here on Lake Lothing, Lowestoft, Suffolk.
Used by high end personnel in the ranks of Starcorps, this drone is a brutal and heavily armoured protector.
This was made for the fantastic army of Starcorps by MadMario in brikwars
Taken today it was blowing an absolute hooley and keeping the camera and tripod steady was a challenge in itself
This is a 11 shot pano taken about 11AM
Thanks for looking :)

DESIGNATION: Protector-018
NICKNAME: Galaar
RANK: ARC Lieutenant Grade 1
UNIT: Vornskr, First Regiment, "Bralor's First", 253rd Elite Clone Legion
"Galaar means hawk in Mando'a the native language of the Mandalorians, a name given to Protector Class ARC Trooper 018 for his abnormally keen vision and hunting instinct. In a sense, like the rest of his Protector brethren, Galaar was everything that the Kaminoans had designed him to be, an apex predator. It was during the initial combat simulations when Galaar first learned of his aptitude towards reconnaissance and tracking, a bi-product of a slight genetic mishap which heightened his senses. While not significant enough to warrant special assignment, Galaar's mutation peaked the interest of Mandalorian Huntress and Cuy'val Dar member, Vhonte Tervho. Tervho took Galaar under her wing and taught him the ways of the hunt, indoctrinating him further into the Mandalorian culture and molding him into an expert scout, tracker, and sapper. She would later give him the name "Galaar" after observing him during his 3rd phase combined arms trials, where 018 served as a point man for his platoon, acting as their eyes and ears on the battle field. It was here he exceled, often cut off from his unit, but still effective, relaying information and sabotaging the enemy at every opportunity, he was good at it that he was put up for promotion prior to the First Battle of Geonosis. Galaar was confident and rightfully so, Cabur and Vhonte Tervho has trained him well, he was part of what may be the most elite fighting force the Galaxy would ever see, so when word came that the Legion would be mobilized and sent to Geonosis to rescue a Jedi task force, Galaar didn't worry, the mission would be textbook, just like the simulations.
Unfortunately for the young ARC trooper he was wrong.
The First Battle of Geonosis, saw the integration of over a thousand regular clone troopers into the 253rd's ranks, separating the elite ARC troopers of Fenn Bralor's Raysh'olan Ade, and putting them in charge of brothers whom they never met nor trained with before. This decision by the commanders of the newly formed Grand Army of the Republic would prove to be disastrous for the 253rd and result in heavy casualties among both the ARCs and their trooper brethren. Galaar, was restricted during the battle, unable to play to his strengths, due to being forced to baby sit a platoon of troopers. Unlike is ARC brethren, Galaar could not just leave them and play the role of the scout as by doing so would jeopardize the entire squad and their mission. This put Galaar at a major disadvantage and it showed when Galaar's platoon took over fifty-percent casualties during their mission to destroy a small droid foundry in the planets southern hemisphere. Geonosis taught Galaar a harsh lesson, one he did not wish to repeat on the frozen waist land of Rhen Var. To remind himself of his responsibility as a leader to his men, Galaar would paint his armor with green markings, as the color green symbolizes "duty" in the Mandalorian culture. With his armor serving as a solemn reminder of the brothers lost on Geonosis and as promise to those who survived, Galaar began the work of transforming his squad of regular clone troopers into force which would make the Mandalorians back on Kamino proud...

Well that was long, please let me know if I started to ramble anywhere if you happen to read the whole thing.
After deciding that giving Vornskr cold assault armor Rhen Var would break the timeline I'm trying to follow and my goals of a more structured story, I've decided to retcon their initial appearance, by giving Galaar standard Phase 1 ARC armor, and the members of Vornskr Squad unpainted phase 1 armor.
I hope to post my 1.2 build tomorrow in celebration of May 4th and my 1.3 some time in the next week or two. After that it'll likely be time to build again for World in Darkness.
As always thanks for stopping by, especially if you've read this far and have a good one!

A friend who lives in a rural area has posted a not so subtle message for the deer that often show up on his property. "don't mess with my garden"
Mixed results so far.
Bella has always been a joy. She makes us laugh even in sad and stressful times and gives lots of sloppy kisses. She loves her toys and lives for company and walks. She has now taken on the role of protector. My husband is having trouble with strength and balance and has a problem walking. She listens for sounds when he is upstairs and alerts me if he calls for me or if he's having trouble. She has been truly amazing and we love her dearly.
