Some color for today..
Visiting the Alanvale TAFE College during the COVID-19 lock down, I came across this sign. I've made a little change in keeping with the times.
This blue sign will set the tone for today's photographs.
Dian Fossey was an expert on mountain gorillas and studied them in the Virguna Mountains of Rwanda. She opened a research center in a local village which still has a big presence today. She was controversial but managed to save many gorillas. She formed the Digit Fund to stop poaching efforts. In four months in 1979, her four person staff dismantled 987 traps (compared to 0 that the staff of Rwandan park rangers destroyed). She was found tragically murdered in her small cabin on the far edge of Virunga National Park 1985. We had an opportunity to visit the gorillas that Dian Fossey fought so hard for. What an amazing experience to photograph them for an hour.

I was glad I was wearing these. Every time we go to this lake we see snakes and this time I had a very close encounter with quite a large one.

Today I am uploading an oldie because this past week I have reconnected from someone from my past.
He sought me out, and now that he has found me he does not want to see me. Only texting seems safe enough for this person. I hate it when someone feels like they need protection from me, from a Susana they met 20 years ago back in high school, but I guess I have to respect that. Maybe I need that protection too and I am just too fast forward in wanting to have a coffee and reconnect... Maybe I should not be so eager and stop calling him a friend. After all, we were only teenagers when we met. But it makes me so sad turning into just somebody they used to know...
