The barnacle goose (Branta leucopsis) belongs to the genus Branta of black geese, which contains species with largely black plumage, distinguishing them from the grey Anser species. Despite its superficial similarity to the brant goose, genetic analysis has shown it is an eastern derivative of the cackling goose lineage.

I like it, the clear air, the brightness, which is highlighted by the snow... a trip through the Sauerland, always beautiful!
With little prospects for CSX action, the decision was made to camp for the southbound RJ Corman "Red Rocket" at Flanagan. Five hours of baking in the Eastern Kentucky sun and Dixie humidity with big winged birds overhead led to some questions of sanity while waiting for the infamous "kissy lips", but patience was eventually rewarded with two crisp former DRGW tunnel motors splitting the L&N searchlights in perfect sun with about 40 flats for Alcan Aluminum in Berea.

Candid, unposed shot - literally, a drive-by shooting, me (passenger) hiding because of the dangers. I left the wing mirror and the curve of the car roof in this shot as it's kinda part of the story in this case.
The colours of the parasol etc were bleached by the sun, it is not over exposed.
