We, unaccustomed to courage

exiles from delight

live coiled in shells of loneliness

until love leaves its high holy temple

and comes into our sight

to liberate us into life.

Love arrives

and in its train come ecstasies

old memories of pleasure

ancient histories of pain.

Yet if we are bold,

love strikes away the chains of fear

from our souls.

We are weaned from our timidity

In the flush of love's light

we dare be brave

And suddenly we see

that love costs all we are

and will ever be.

Yet it is only love

which sets us free.

Only when I got to know alchemy, it became clear to me that the unconscious is a process, and that the self's relation to the unconscious' contents activate an actual change or development of the psyche.

… because the work with the contents of the unconscious forms the human being and causes his change. My life is my actions, my intellectual [and artistic] work. The one can not be separated from the other.

Day three: The task which I was told from the innermost was: »self-contained without being closed«; so I put a circle around the whole and understood for the first time that it was meant to be a mandala; later I went to the other end of the island (the "green beach", one of my favorite places) in order to hold more treasures (pebbles) for the mandala.

In Jordan, we went up to Mount Nebo and at its highest point, we saw what Moses must have seen of the Promised Land thousands of years ago... the Dead Sea in the upper left hand corner, the lands of Jericho towards the right and up ahead the land that would be the site for Jerusalem.

"And Moses went up from the plains of Moab unto the mountain of Nebo, to the top of Pisgah that is over against Jericho. And the Lord shewed him all the land of Gilead, unto Dan.... I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither..."

Deuteronomy 34:1-4

My Nana kept this old fiberboard suitcase that she came to America with in 1950!! We found it in the basement when we cleaned it out. She was born in Hungary in 1907 and lived to the ripe old age of 99. Oh, and she fried everything in LARD!!!! Just like my other Grandma who lived to be 95!!

After 40 years leading the headstrong Israelites in the desert, Moses stood on the windswept summit of Mount Nebo and viewed the Promised Land of Canaan — after having been told by God “you shall not cross over there”.

On a clear day, today’s pilgrims can see the panorama Moses viewed: The Dead Sea, the Jordan River valley, Jericho, Bethlehem and the distant hills of Jerusalem.
