A pyromaniac supervillain, inspired by DC's Firefly.

absolutely stunning place. i've seen a lot of caves but this one was by far the most awesome one with endless halls after halls full of stalactites and stalagmites, one more impressive than the last.

I discovered this "natural engraving" today as I was walking in the forest. I don't know if your imagination makes something appear in it, but mine makes me see a human figure looking down, while holding a torch in his right hand.

I might as well think that it is Prometheus, the Titan credited for the theft of fire for the benefice of humanity (interestingly, this is a theme that recurs in many world mythologies ).

Fire is sometimes related to knowledge. We use the image of making the light on something, for example.

As I was driving home, I heard on the radio that a Tibetan set himself on fire today, the 55th to do so since February 2009.

They did it out of sadness and frustration after years of living under the Chinese rule, but they also did it to shed light on Tibet's cause, on Tibetan's struggles.

It's up to us to spread this light now, so that they didn't do it in vain, like a torch turning off in the cold, silent darkness of oblivion.

I have so much to say about this movie, but can't find a good way to. Post questions or what you thought about the film, and I'll answer them. :)

Yes a cheap ride on the film of the same name, but as soon as I saw this it felt 'alien' and otherworldly. On a slightly more philosophical note I feel this image represents a key moment in my photographic journey and the improvements I've been making as an artist this year. Prometheus is a symbol of progress in mythology so it seems apt.

Then again, maybe I just like the word as much as I like the image so should stop looking for excuses to use it! :)

This was shot at the same time as Mochras Gold and Mochras Pink on a particularly fruitful evening on the beach at Shell Island where we were blessed with a fantastic sky on our last night. Having done my research the high tide and sunset happened together and the result is one of my favourite images to date.

Difficult to get a straight-on shot with the cafe umbrellas in the way.

So, which movie was better? There's no denying that Alien and Prometheus share many things between them, from body horror to a strong female survivor. Alien has an emphasis on horrific motherhood, from alien impregnation to the computer called "MOTHER." Prometheus focuses on fathers - the neglectful, abusive alien father race as well as Weyland himself, the jerk. Both are also freudian, though I have to admit that Alien, with its face-raping spider and phallic-headed monster is LESS overt than Prometheus. Really, that squid-thing. The underside is Freud's dream. Prometheus has enough specific callbacks to Alien (even in the closing narration) that it can't be an accident (it isn't), but it really is its own film - one about ancient alien origins and the nature of belief.

As much as I consider Prometheus to be an interesting movie, it falters when compared to Alien. But is that a bad thing? If you watch them in "chronological" order, you are building up to Alien in its own way... maybe. Sorta.

So, the Xenomorphs are bioweapons created by proto-human engineers. People suspected this, but... that does kind of ruin the mystique. The idea of the Space Jockey ship as a "bomber" did long pre-exist Prometheus, however, as an unsaid part of Alien's background - so Ridley Scott didn't TOTALLY throw everything out from his old movie!

And that's Prometheus for you. Both a failure and a success in every way, but at least it's interesting to talk about!

Pretty and fun game, but the performance is atrocious. No matter what settngs it runs at sub 30fps in the cockpit and never gets to 60 in the walk sections. Still worth playing.

Prometheus is said to be the best-known sculpture in Rockefeller Center and the most photographed monumental sculpture in all of NYC. Created by famed American sculptor Paul Manship, who held a great fascination for mythological subjects and events, it has become the main attraction of the Lower Plaza. Its central theme is best stated by the quote that’s carved in the red granite wall behind him, taken from the sixth-century B.C. Greek dramatist Aeschylus: “Prometheus, Teacher in Every Art, Brought the Fire That Hath Proved to Mortals a Means to Mighty Ends.”

i don't the last time when i've done a fanart but here you go. I know the sequel won't be what i thought this movie would be but at least i can try.

A little Prometheus fanart. The number 1 film i’m waiting for in 2012, after the Hobbit of course :P

Remember that I am thy creature; I ought to be thy Adam, but I am rather the fallen angel, whom thou drivest from joy for no misdeed.

Mediterranean Harbor

Tokyo DisneySea

Just one week ago I returned from Tokyo, which included a trip to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. It was a great trip: the weather could not have been more perfect and I got 5 days split between Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea.

Here we see Mount Prometheus erupting from the Fortress Explorations area of Mediterranean Harbor area of Tokyo DisneySea. I've said my piece about DisneySea before, but I could easily gush about that place endlessly. Adventurous, exciting, beautiful, and romantic: it's one of a kind. If you've never had the pleasure, imagine Disneyland with a heavy emphasis on Adventureland mashed together with Walt Disney World's World Showcase then you get somewhat of an idea about what DisneySea is all about.

Fortress Explorations is an interesting area: it's an old-world, Da Vinci themed enclave that's part Tom Sawyer Island and part Kim Possible/Midship Detective Agency interactive adventure. We thought we would explore the area briefly before our lunch reservations but we found the area just kept going on and on with rooms and details, and 45 minutes later we were running to our lunch still not having seen everything.

As if I needed an excuse to come back.
