Mallow, my Uromastyx lizard, enjoying a fresh harvest of dandelions. She is a fun pet and an easy-to-keep reptile, because she is completely vegetarian and her favorite meal grows in the lawn! :-)
All this year, I started seeing the new full size vans that are taking on the Mercedes Sprinter, one is the Ford Transit and the other is the Ram Promaster....a van based on it's Fiat counterpart, the Fiat Ducato. Ram is also announcing a new competitor to the Transit Connect vans which is the Promaster City which is based on a Fiat Doblo.

THEME = Flowers for Bruce! R.I.P.
An unknown-to-the-poster (who is not an entomologist...) species of butterfly lights on the leaf litter atop Albany Hill in Albany, CA. Taken by a Nikon F4s with a Promaster 7 100-400mm ƒ 4.5-6.7 lens on Kodak Portra 400 film. Cropped heavily to a 4x5 aspect ratio.
If you can help me ID this butterfly, please do so! There are two more shots (the prior shot in my photostream, and another later in the photostream.)
I bought a Promaster 52mm Close Up +4, +2, +1 filter for my Nikon DX 18-55 mm. I love to take close up, but I can not afford a new lens, so this is the next best thing.
A Black-Crowned Night Heron Nycticorax nycticorax stands in a pool off the radio cooling pond in the Berkeley Aquatic Park in Berkeley, CA. Taken by a Nikon F4s with a Promaster 7 100-400 lens (at 400) on Fujicolor Superia 400.

I can't recall every seeing milkweeds in bloom. I'm glad I did. They are grotesquely beautiful, especially because the blooms are covered in flies.

(Shot at f/2, which is sharp enough for me, and isolates nicely.)
"Golden Globe" is probably my favorite. I love puns. Too much.
This was not taken on June 27th 2006 (thank god!!!, I hope I'm better than this by now).
I bought a Promaster 7500DX shoe-mount strobe from a local camera store where the bastard convinced me that it was as good or better than Canon's 580EX. So anyway I bought an off-camera shoe cord at the same time & this was taken during my initial expirements. I can tell you that I learned very quickl;y not to put the strobe down in front of the subject when there is a big white wall behind them. I couldn't really get rid of the shadow in PS so I tried to kind of use it as part of the image. Theres too much general work done to explain but if you really, really, really wanna know exactly what I did just ask & I'll tell ya. I dont have the EXIF info either but again, I'll find it if you really want it.
Light was off-camera to the low-left.
I was going through pictures on my computer and realized I had never uploaded these which I took back in September! So I decided to edit them similarly and upload them.

Tell you what, I'm liking the stitching option.
Multiple exposures stitched in Microsoft ICE.

Harsh midday sunlight and infinity focus tests at f3.8 and f11 from Vulcan Park in Birmingham, Alabama. Please do not judge these photos for their photographic merit since these are just tests of a lens that most people would consider junk. These are handheld SOOC shots from an old manual focus Auto Promaster 85-210mm f3.8 FD mount adapted to a Sony a5000. All of these except two are either f3.8 or f11 (see shutter speeds).
At f3.8, softness is so severe that it becomes difficult to even see the focal point. Sharpness at f11 is much better, and I would say slightly better than I expected. True infinity focus seems unachievable, or at least on my setup, which is able to achieve infinity with know good lenses. It appears the distance from Vulcan Park and Childrens' Hospital is about the distance of "infinity".
No matter what, for near free, this lens is fun with three different ways to spin the lens (macro mode, focal length, and focus).
See the album for the whole set of test pics.

This one reminded me a little bit of Shrek's swamp.
Alligator Alley is a really great place to see alligators and learn about their ways. I highly recommend it for anyone who has not been especially if you have young kids.
