Waves come to mind when I first looked at this image, and then the title came to me. Sometimes life just sweeps us up and carries us like a wave. Some waves are high and powerful and some are low and smooth but we have no choice but to let them carry us while we ride it out. I hope all of your waves are smooth. x

For Looking Close... on Friday! group theme: textile texture
This is my daughter's prom dress which she was supposed to happily wear last year for her prom but, sadly, due to Covid, our school board cancelled her prom AND her graduation. We were not permitted to have large gatherings. We are still in another lockdown as I write this! This past year and a half has honestly been a complete crap show. I am sick and tired of it all....the cleaning and sanitizing I have to do at work and wearing all the PPE. I miss the way it was. I miss seeing peoples faces and smiles! I miss seeing and hugging my family!
While my kiddo may not have had the prom of her dreams she did manage to put her dress on and have a small gathering at our house with her group of best friends last September, just before they parted ways to head off to university and I was able to get some beautiful photos of her and her friends. I realize this past year hasn't been what we expected but I am trying to make the best of it. I am just tired...
Thank you for your views, comments and faves. I appreciate them all!

2004 Morilee 6115, Size 6 Prom dress in Peacock Blue. With removable straps. Worn once for 2004 prom. 6052394226
This is from a recent outing with Marissa and her friend Jenn.
We found this old run down house and barn, and thought a shoot would be cool in the given enviroment. Marissa whipped out her prom dress and I had this idea of catching a shot of her anxiously waiting for her prom date. This is what came of it! I sepia'd and B/W'ed it as well, but the colors of this were more fun and added to the potrayal in my opinion!
All images are of my Niece getting ready fer her Prom, with friends and family. The first time I've done anything like this and it was a great experience, trying to be as creative as I could with the images where possible. I used my trusty Pentax Kx and Tamron 18-250mm lens, which is fab for portraits.
Another shot from the senior portrait session a little while back. This was one of the clients picks. This was actually processed pretty close to RAW (below). I think this shot would look much better in large print. So many of the small details get lost on a web sized JPEG.

Had my first shoot with a complete stranger today. We found each other on Model Mayhem. I had a great time and got some pretty good photos. Thanks to Julie!
I have been so absent on flickr and I feel so terrible about it :( I promise to catch up on everyones streams super duper soon.
I finally put my prom dress back on. Having it on felt bitter sweet. It drove memories of how amazing of a night I had and how the person I shared that night with is no longer in my life anymore. But regardless, I've been wanting to take pictures in my dress so yesterday I finally did.
That last shot just had too much of an Eddie Bauer feel to it or something. This is the kind of photography I really love to do and what I get excited about. I'm all about them dramatics boi..
I love photography so much because even after 4 years of shooting I am still completely amazed at the magic it can create.. I hope this feeling lasts a long time. It's rad.
Curious if you like this shot or the alternate better

For some unknown reason, I keep coming back to this file. This is the third version since its first upload about 2 years ago. This version fixes the over the top bloom of light in the mirror's reflection.

I've been away from the Flickr world for a bit, but if you keep up with my Facebook you'll see that things are steady. I've been recently wanting to venture around with other styles of post processing & such. I've always been a huge fan of both Karrah Kobus & Rosie Hardy. I swear those ladies are so talented! This image definitely has an undertone of their style because they are truly the best at what they do.
This photo is actually almost an entire year old. I decided it needed a new life brought to it and this is what happened!

This is a fun and exciting time of the year for the graduating class of high school seniors. This lovely senior posed in the garden at Wesley Village dressed in a beautiful prom dress. Congratulations to her and the Class of 2015!
