52 week project: Planning

Alberta’s Health Minister Adriana LaGrange announced, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, AB on Monday, March 31, 2025, funding to support health capital projects in rural communities.

Alberta’s government is investing about $330 million over three years to support health capital projects in rural communities across the province.

Alberta’s government is committed to providing the highest quality of health care services for every Albertan, no matter where they live in the province, and this includes making historic investments in rural health care facilities.

To further these goals, Budget 2025’s new Rural Hospital Enhancement Program will improve rural health care facilities to better address rural health challenges and provide greater access to essential health services. If passed, Budget 2025 will provide $15 million to support project planning, which includes conducting facility and functional assessments of rural hospitals to determine what capital planning solutions and services are required to maximize each facility’s potential and better meet the needs of rural communities.

Also attending the announcement were Justin Wright, parliamentary secretary for rural health (south), Ron Wiebe, parliamentary secretary for rural health (north), Jackie Lovely, MLA for Camrose, and Patrick Dumelie, chief executive officer, Covenant. It is time to escalate at FERC. Beyond Extreme Energy (BXE) and Sane Energy Project planned three days of sharing/training, art-building and action from June 23-25. June 23rd was the last of 40 days in the DC national action being organized by the Poor People’s Campaign around the country. Following the demonstration we gathered in the late afternoon for a time of sharing, art-building and getting prepared for action at FERC and elsewhere the morning of Monday, June 25th. We spent all-day Sunday continuing that preparation and community-building. (Photo by Erik McGregor)

6/1/13 - I thought that I would have more time for pictures today, but spent most of the day at a tennis tournament. Since I have photography related projects planned for the next two days, I guess that I can't complain about devoting a day to tennis. Fortunately, it has been rainy for the last week and everything in my yard is very healthy (including the weeds). This was one of the flowers on my chive plant. I just love the colors.

FORT BELVOIR COMMUNITY HOSPITAL

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers photo by Marc Barnes

Brig. Gen. Todd Semonite, commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), North Atlantic Division (NAD), discusses project plans for the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital with Corps employees during a recent visit to the site. The Norfolk District is the lead district for the $806 million hospital. The new 120-bed, state-of-the-art facility is being constructed on south Main Post, and will be part of an integrated healthcare network providing medical services to beneficiaries and the nation’s warriors. Construction began in November 2007, and the completed hospital is expected to begin operations by spring 2011. The new hospital replaces the DeWitt Army Community Hospital at Fort Belvoir, which opened its doors in 1957. Within the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) decisions, the hospital is one component of a medical restructuring designed to increase overall hospital and outpatient care to all service members and veterans. Other elements include a joint National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., and closure of the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Various districts of the North Atlantic Division are administering and executing more than $4 billion in military construction projects at Fort Belvoir, the majority of which are a result of 2005 BRAC decisions.

Participants in the Walk for Water received a refillable water bottle as part of the Bayfield Blue Community Project plan to eliminate bottled water. Donations were collected at the walk with proceeds being used to install water refill stations throughout the village.

The Breaking Barriers project, led by three 14 year old youth club members, was funded through the Youth Opportunity Fund. The Youth Opportunity Fund is money given to positive projects across England by local panels of young people making the decisions.

Breaking Barriers won an Actions Speak Louder award for its innovative and powerful work building understanding between young people from different areas and different gangs through youth activities and taking gang members on residential trips.

With the money from their Actions Speak Louder prize, the Breaking Barriers project plan to run further residentials and activities across a wider range of youth clubs in the Borough of Lambeth.

This Project was a project in wear the objective was to create an event space in Miami's Design District to permanently house Design Miami. The Design on the the floor of the event space is meant to be a sort of yellow brick road leading people through the space, and inspired by Zaha Hadid's installation in the Moore Building in the same neighborhood. In this design solution the are was split into two buildings: one for the main event space, and the second to hold offices. Lastly there was a park designed on the roof that can be seen from the freeway and make the building a landmark area. The park on the roof would also be used as a natural insulator with the grass and dirt.

I would like to do something like this in the Breedster grid...
