Recesses in the wood to hide the end of the rod - I want the illusion of a single pipe.

Need to be careful in the final case not to go over these wires.

It's surprisingly sturdy - I was worried as it first went together but as I tightened it up it became much stronger than i'd hoped.

the first model to see how firm threaded rod and 15mm pipe would be - wood was used at first, a very forgiving material. But the acrylic top right held up well too. I've changed the design a little though - see DSC04828.JPG

The rubber grommets maintain the illusion of the pipes being continuous. (Need to sort the flanges between the washers though!)

the board used for this mock-up is smaller than the acrylic I'm using - the acrylic will probably be 350 x 300 - I might go for a 370 x 300.
