Va va voom! Now that's what I call a transformation! Of course, I knew ahead of time that Camryn would most likely end up with a stellar head of hair. I was dazzled the first time I boil washed my store bought McKeyla doll's tresses and realized that she was rooted with saran hair! I absolutely adore this maroon shade that Camryn is sporting. It pops against her warm brown eyes and her minimally made up face. It feels like butter and truly is this shiny in real life! In fact, I'd say her hair is even glossier in person, which is amazing. Although poor Camryn seemed to have a rocky start to life, what with being dumped at a charity store so early on, she has truly been transformed. I can see why I almost bought this doll instead of McKeyla the day I picked out a Project MC² friend out at the store, when I had a gift card! I'm not sorry that I waited to find Camryn secondhand, as she was truly in need of some help!

Here's the doll section of the newest Argos catalogue. And it's a small one.
Other than the obligatory Barbie section and a page of DC Superhero Girls which I might take later, this was really all there was.
LOL Surprise gets a nice chunk of space. Argos has this exclusive three pack which looks cool, and a playset. Lalaloopsy has a very small presence, and no new core dolls - Smyths might be getting those.
Enchantimals is the star product in this section, with all of the products you can buy available here. The play sets are in two separate assortments - one for the fruit cart and the bike, and another for the rest.
Monster High has a tiny, tiny section. The only time it's has a smaller section was when they first came out with four dolls. Yikes. No new products, and all of the ones here are on discount. Not promising.
The Project Mc2 section is pretty small, but I don't like the new fantasy themed ones anyway. The best thing about this section? They FINALLY have Camryn's Hoverboard! And the price is great.
I have no interest in Miraculous or whatever Glimmies are, but they exist.
No sign of Kuu Kuu Harajuku dolls which isn't surprising since the show isn't out on UK television. No Descendants either but Argos has never really got behind Descendants much. And Ever After High is out. But no surprise there.
What's poppin, y'all?

Sorry for the shit quality picture, my camera isn't as good as I'd like it to be.
So Toys R Us in the UK has FINALLY got the wave 2 deluxe Project Mc2 dolls. They only had Adrienne and Camryn in stock - I got Adrienne only because they had more of her on the shelf. I'll definitely get Camryn later on, McKeyla too. I already have Bryden from this wave.
Quick mini-review: Adri is gorgeous. Her face is the best it's ever looked. Her outfit is adorable. Her hair is a bit challenging, but it's a great fiber. Oh, and I got her for £18.74!
Very happy with her. Now all I need of the deluxe line are Wave 2 Cam and McKeyla, then Wave 3 McKeyla and Cam's Hoverboard. Oddly I seem to be getting a lot of Brydens and Adriennes...they seem to have the cutest outfits! But I love them all.

Her experiment is a lava lip gloss. I'm pretty sure I haven't tried the experiments in quite a long time. It sound neat but I kind of miss the more science-orientated experiments rather than the make-up stuff they're doing a lot of now. I have make-up already. I want fun stuff like they did in the first wave.
Her hair is the standard dark brown used for most McKeyla dolls (ironically the two deluxe versions of her I don't have both have a different hair color...go figure) in a high ponytail. It's a nice style and a refreshing change. Usually Camryn gets the high ponytails. My issue here is that it's quite tangly and a little greasy as well. It needs work.
Her face is, as per usual, stunning. Those glass eyes are some of the best things about these dolls. The painted versions of these just aren't as nice. She has silver eyeshadow and a pearlescent lip gloss as her make-up this time around. It's nice to see them change the make-up every time there's a new version. Her earrings look like screws with wings. I'll leave it at that.
She comes with a purple purse (I LOVE this shade of purple) with a grey chain which is a very literal chain. It matches her outfit - a dark purple sequins dress and a silver jacket. The dress hits the floor and has a slit that shows off the right knee. The sequins do fall off at times. There's a black ribbon as a belt, and part of the dress is a cut-out at the very side with flesh-tone tulle. The neckline is a v-neck with ribbon straps. This is all sort of hidden by her jacket. It's a faux leather, like classic Barbie silver leather (if that makes any sense) and it's got a real retro feel to it. It limits the arm movement slightly, but who wouldn't sacrifice a little arm movement for a bomb jacket?
This is my first McKeyla with heels. The first and third versions have flats and I assume the second version does too (still looking for her!). The sole and heel of her shoes are actually translucent plastic, with black paint for the main body and silver studded straps. They aren't incredibly quirky, but McKeyla isn't really that quirky of a character. It's on brand.
She has the standard Project Mc2 articulation, but her knees are less floppy. She still can't stand up on her own.
What I love about this doll is that she isn't out-there and individualized like the other dolls. She's very regular and girl-next door, and that's been translated into this outfit. Obviously I love the unique touches of aztec on Camryn, or the floral theme with Ember, but look at this dress! It feels like something that you could commission for prom. And that's ideal for McKeyla.
I'm glad to finally have this doll and hopefully I'll find the other three...somehow.
But if my order had came complete in the first place, like it should have, I wouldn't have this problem. Oh well. Such is life.

Yesterday I ordered a doll I've been waiting a long time to get from the Debenhams website...and she arrived today!
Next day click and collect is a blessing.
Project Mc2 Bryden's Bracelet doll and review coming soon...
Cannot contain my excitement right now!
I found Devon D'Marco at Smyths for £24.99 - I didn't see Ember but they had Bryden, Adrienne and McKeyla, all the new versions. No sign of Camryn yet again.
But right now I'm so excited to have found Devon! More to come...
A trip to a GFC store yesterday yielded 3 dolls, a gown and a pair of Barbie's pantyhose from the mid 1980s.
Other than Bryden's shoes, none of them was wearing her original clothes. The Snow White & Bryden dolls were found wearing the gown and pantyhose.

Despite cleaning and restoring countless dolls over the years (probably over two thousand based on my collection size and my incessant need to groom dolls), I was still blown away by McKeyla's transformation process. No matter how much experience you have, you have never seen it all. That was the case for McKeyla McAlister. I was one hundred percent certain after opening McKeyla and washing/detangling her hair, that she was rooted with nylon hair. But after dunking her in the boil wash water and combing her mane out, I was shocked by what I discovered. McKeyla was actually rooted with saran hair...no, not nylon hair that feels like saran (I can tell the difference nowadays as I've made that mistake so many times in the past). She actually has the most gorgeous, sleek, silky, and dense, saran, brown hair ever! I am truly floored by McKeyla's transformation...never in all the years I've been fixing dolls, have I encountered saran hair that felt so nasty, that I actually mistook it for nylon. Usually, saran hair starts to feel better when it has been conditioned...but that wasn't the case for McKeyla (if this really were nylon, a boil wash would not have made it feel so nice so quickly...I would have needed to flat iron it). I was pleasantly surprised to say the least, being that I didn't have to spend a half hour flat ironing McKeyla's hair. Plus, now I see that she is a bit better quality than I gave her credit for initially (not that I mind lower quality dolls at all...I love me a good flat iron treatment). It is sad when I think that it took a boil wash to make her hair feel decent though, when it is actually saran. As a kid, I wouldn't have been able to achieve these results, since I only knew how to wash and condition doll hair. While myself and other collectors could easily spruce a doll like McKeyla up, a child might feel very disappointed if they couldn't fix up hair like this (that's how I used to feel anyways).
