No dia 28 de novembro, mais uma parceria do Programa Embaixadas de Portas Abertas — iniciativa coordenada pelo Escritório de Assuntos Internacionais do GDF (EAI-DF), com apoio da Secretaria de Educação (SEEDF) e da Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos de Brasília (TCB) — foi consolidada. As duas instituições envolvidas, a Embaixada do Panamá e o Centro de Ensino Fundamental 03 de Taguatinga, se encontraram na unidade escolar para concluir as atividades de intercâmbio iniciadas em 31 de outubro.

Kids from Phelps Luck Elementary School in Columbia, MD and the Matnas Community Arts Center in Sapir, Israel participated in a year long literacy and cultural arts program. They wrote stories, illustrated them, and performed through an ancient Japanese storytelling technique called Kamishibai. On June 10, 2009 the two groups of kids shared and performed their stories over a live web chat.
The Ceramics Program, Office for the Arts at Harvard will present its 2018 Spring Show and Sale May 10-13 in its state-of-the art facility at 224 Western Avenue, Allston, MA.
More than fifty artists will present an extraordinary selection of ceramic work. From functional dinnerware to sculptural masterpieces, this popular exhibition has something for everyone and attracts several thousand visitors each year. It’s the perfect place to find Mother’s Day gifts.
All are invited to join us for light refreshments at our Opening Reception on Thursday, May 10 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm. The Spring Show and Sale continues Friday through Mother’s Day Sunday, May 11-13, from 10:00 am–7:00 pm.
Gallery 224, the Ceramics Program’s exhibition space, will feature work by the Ceramics Program’s fifteen Resident Artists. We celebrate this group of artists who have maintained their own workspaces within our community studio at 224 Western Ave for a four-year, juried term from 2014-2018.
A touchstone for the arts within Barry’s Corner, Allston, the Ceramics Program provides a creative studio environment for the Harvard, greater Boston, and international communities. Courses of all levels are offered over three terms a year. Recognized internationally for its leadership in the field, the Ceramics Program hosts lectures, master classes, symposia and demonstrations by visiting artists, curators and scholars from all over the world.
The Ceramics Program studio is wheelchair accessible.
Limited free parking is available in the lot directly behind the studio.

Irma del Carmen Rivera, de 57 años, es agricultora que participó en el programa MELYT de ONU MUJERES. El programa Mujeres, Economía Local y Territorios - MELYT, responde, a través de una estrategia multiescalar, a cerrar las brechas históricas para la autonomía económica de las mujeres en términos de acceso a servicios empresariales, a mercados y su inclusión financiera. Ella reside en el caserío Buenavista, en Las Pilas Chalatenango, El Salvador. Ella planta hortalizas de alto valor y fue beneficiada con un macrotúnel de parte del proyecto donde sembró chiles. En la foto se le ve en un invernadero de su familia donde planta tomates donde trabaja con su esposo, hijos y nuera. Sacan al menos 200 cajas de tomate para la venta. “Plantamos una chilera que duró como 5 meses. Fue una cosecha inmensa que nos dio. Lo que me hace sentirme feliz es que es una empresita familiar, porque trabajan mis hijos, mi esposo y nosotros con Marlene (nuera). Vamos comprando los insumos y aquí nos vamos ayudando. El tomate lo vendemos a una empacadora y lo que sobra a las pupuserías de la zona”, explica. Previo al cultivo de hortalizas Irma plantaba flores para la venta. “He tenido un cambio de vida muy bueno, muy bonito, porque yo ahora ya trabajo un poco menos, ya solo me dedico a dirigir algunas cosas, ¿verdad? Como decirles a mis hijos lo que ellos tienen que ir haciendo. Si se presenta alguna enfermedad o una plaga, pues andar listos. Con la gente del proyecto seguimos conectados a través de grupos de WhatsApp. Caen los mensajes desde México. Entonces allí nosotros nos van informando qué hacer con las plagas, qué hacer con las heladas que afecta nuestras plantas, y ahí vamos. Todos los días aprendo cosas nuevas sobre agricultura. Me va enseñando a cada día a mejorar si algunas cosas no están bien”.
