Argentina has witnessed evolving security concerns since the return of democracy in 1983. While Argentina was primarily a drug-transit country in the 1980s and 1990s, domestic consumption has risen in recent years. As a result, the presence of organized criminal organizations has grown throughout the country, and a majority of citizens now list crime as a primary concern. What has led to the changing nature of citizen security challenges in Argentina? What are the regional implications of growing crime and drug trafficking? Join the Americas Program as it welcomes Diego Gorgal, one of the preeminent experts on security in Argentina, for this timely and informative discussion.
