The International Military Students of Sergeants Major Course Class 70 began their final day of the Fall 2019 Field Studies Program on Oct. 25. The FSP brought the students to the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch and Luckenbach, Texas where they received guided tours of the areas. They also concluded the FSP with a social commemorating their time in central Texas.

CBMM’s Rising Tide boatshop program is a pilot initiative in collaboration with the YMCA of the Chesapeake. In November, 2015, the program began with one of two, six-week after-school boatbuilding sessions offered to Talbot County 6th grade students.
The pilot sessions have limited participation, with the YMCA of the Chesapeake organizing registration and transportation from its Easton location.
Funded through philanthropic support, the program is designed to teach students basic boatbuilding skills in a welcoming, relaxed environment. The goal of the program is to empower students to develop a sense of self-confidence and pride, and facilitate mentorships with shipwright educators that will provide guidance and support during this crucial year in their development.
The sessions include learning basic woodworking skills and safety procedures, with several take-home projects for participants.
