Masonic Home Covina • Centennial Exhibit Program
"On Sunday, June 26, 2016, the Masons of California celebrated the centennial of the Masonic Home at Covina. In honor of the enduring legacy of not only the Masonic Homes of California, but also the Grand Lodge and the Craft in general, we also inaugurated the first exhibit at the new museum on the campus."

Today we created two more games in Programming C! We created a target game with moving obstacles and a drawing game where we could change colors and the size of our pencil.
Taken with my new macro rig! FD 50mm 1.8 mounted on FD to EF adapter. Without the correcting lens. The focus range went from 0.3m-infinity to 0.15-0.3m approximately! At 1.8 you can see some color fringing, but step it down to 2.8 and it's gone.
Victory Programs' 2017 Dinnerfest RED Party + Auction was one for the record books with a celebrity-style step and repeat, returning rock-star auctioneer Kathy Kingston and premium prizes including a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to throw the first pitch at PRIDE night at Fenway park that sold for nearly $5,000 after Dinnerfest co-chair Tiffani Faison upped the anti not once, not twice, but three times, sweetening the deal with additional goodies courtesy of her 2nd restaurant, Sweet Cheeks Q which happens to be steps away from Fenway Park, live on stage to motivate bidders! Guest who wore red, the signature color for the event, were entered into a special raffle. The event raised more than $130,000, last year's record and supports Victory Programs' 17 health, housing and prevention programs which serve more than 2,300 men, women and children annually.

At the top is a prototype board that I built which provides everything necessary to program a PIC microcontroller. At the bottom right is the prototype board that you get with a PICKit2... it does the same thing as my prototype board! :-)

Elizabeth: "I have grown up in a third world country and seen the inequality and poverty that is rife within communities, and I think to begin to correct inequality taking care of children is one of the first steps. In addition, on completion of my degree I hope to go into the charitable/ diplomatic sector and I think this will be a great way of being exposed to issues I may come across then. I also have previously volunteered at an orphanage in South Africa and really found it eye opening and so educating.
Tessa: "Upon leaving university, I intend to begin a career in the charitable or diplomatic sector. One area which I am interested in potentially specialising in is combating systematic neglect towards children and teenagers (either in the foster care or criminal justice system). This is why this project appeals so greatly to me: the childcare programme is highly suited to this. I cannot think of better preparation for, or insight into, this career than a project like this, as it seems to avoid the problem of 'voluntourism' which many other organisations I have looked at have fallen into. I truly believe, from my research, that this organisation really is tailored to the needs of the community we are trying to help as opposed to simply giving an experience to the volunteer".

I'm so proud of Steph. She pretty much taught herself the programming for Arduino this weekend! Andy did some of the mechanics, but the programming was all hers!
This is her midterm project for her 9th grade programming class. I'll try and get a video of the final piece in the next couple of days.

El programa “Chile Crece Contigo” creado en el primer gobierno de la Presidenta Michelle Bachelet cumple 10 años, es por ello que este lunes, las autoridades nacionales se desplegaron por el país para hacer entrega de los nuevos ajuares para recién nacidos en los hospitales públicos. En Tarapacá, la Intendenta Claudia Rojas estuvo acompañada de la subsecretaria para las Fuerzas Armadas, Paulina Vodanovic, quien destacó el éxito de esta iniciativa pública que incluso ha sido replicada en otros países.
