Brighter Bites is a collaborative effort designed to improve access to healthy, affordable food and provide nutrition education. The University of Texas School of Public Health, KIPP Schools, the Houston Food Bank and Texas Children's Hospital have partnered to offer the 16-week program to third-grade children enrolled at KIPP Explore Academy and their parents. As you can see from the photos, those healthy kale smoothies are a hit!

The Dorland-Bell school for girls in Hot Springs was combined with the Asheville Farm School in 1942 to create the Warren Wilson Vocational Junior College. Helen Hickman came from Dorland-Bell and continued teaching weaving until the late '50s
The Office of Cocurricular Program sponsored an on-campus Mardi Gras event, which featured a second-line parade across campus, a king cake tasting contest, live music, food and more.

For the second consecutive year, The Pointe residents have corresponded with several elementary classes as part of our Pen Pal Program. At the end of the school year, a group of residents visit the school and meet the children they have been sending letters to. The children were just as excited as the residents to finally meet. One class read stories to the residents and another gave a presentation on jaguars. The program is one of our most successful and popular among our residents and they are already looking forward to school starting in the fall. Not sure the kids feel the same about that though!

HONOLULU —Brent Oto, Training Instructor, Army Substance Abuse Program, U.S. Army Garrison-Hawaii, speaks to Troop Command Soldiers about safe drinking habits and the dangers of excessive alcohol use on a person’s health and possible personal and professional ramifications, at the Safety Stand Down Day, Feb. 17. ASAP was just one of the many presenters on hand teaching Soldiers, civilians and contractors at Tripler Army Medical Center and Schofield Barracks Health Clinic about patient and personal safety.
