Keighley Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society's production of "Sybil" played at the Hippodrome Theatre in Keighley for six nights (and a Saturday matinee) from Monday 15th February 1937. The military comic opera was written by Max Brody and Franz Martos, with music by Victor Jacobi and lyrics by Harry Graham and Harry B. Smith. The KAODS production was produced by H. Flockton Foster, with musical director R. Lewis Scargill.
The story is set in pre-Revolutionary Russia. Sybil Renaud (played by Rhoda Heap), a talented vocalist is touring Russia accompanied by impressario Monsieur Charles Poire (W. Lupton Brooks). Lieutenant Paul Petrov of the Imperial Guard (Arthur Day) falls in love with Sybil and deserts his post to be with Sybil as she travels to Bomsk. The Governor of Bomsk (Ernest Marsden) is preparing the town for a visit by the Grand Duke and Duchess Constantine. Sybil is mistaken for the Duchess, an error she plays along with in order to prevent Lieutenant Petrov being punished as a deserter. The Grand Duke (Eric B. Broster) arrives and plays along with the conceit, but when the Grand Duchess (Edith Clarke) finds out what is happening she is less than impressed. The confusion continues until Sybil confesses all and everyone lives happily ever after. As the programme put it: "Add to the above the many smart officers and ladies, in brilliant uniforms and gorgeous costumes, really tuneful music, and delightful scenic effects and dances, and you have in 'Sybil' a general ensemble that will please the eye and, we trust, entrance the senses of those who witness it."
The show also starred Margaret Best, Alan Petty, John Mitchell, Clifford Heap, Fred Gillott, Albert E. Shepherd and Harry Moore.
The 48-page programme was designed and printed by The Keighley Printers Ltd. of High Street, Keighley. It measures approximately 185mm by 250mm. The programme was part of an anonymous donation given in 2022.
A Falkirk programme from the club's time at Brockville, now a Morrisons supermarket. The Bairns issued this 24-pager (50p) for an April 1989 visit by Raith Rovers. Falkirk won 4-0 at Scottish League First Division encounter in front of 2,932 spectators.
When I returned to Falkirk, some years later, to visit the club's new stadium, I called in at the Brockville Morrisons. It contained numerous displays of historical images depicting the football club and its players. Good to see the past wasn't forgotten!

1994 Loxley Programme
"Grand Musical Evening featuring the Loxley Silver Band with soloist Hilary Osborn on Saturday 29th October 7:30pm at Tapton Hill Congregational Church, Manchester Road.
Greetings:
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you all tonight to our “Grand Musical Evening. A special welcome to the Loxley Methodist Silver Band under the musical guidance of Ann Underdown and soloist Hilary Osborne.
We are very fortunate to have such a fine local band with a prize winning pedigree stretching over 105 years. Although the band is hard working throughout the year it will be best known to many of us for Christmas carolling in local hostelries.
Tonight will be tinged with sadness for the band, as it is the last concert with their musical director Ann Underdown, so expect a rousing send off".
Notable band members at this time were Tom Osbourne, currently co-principle trumpet with the Hallé Orchestra and Dale Garner, currently soprano cornet with Championship section Marsden Silver Band. Many of the other members noted on the programme are still with the band and Anne (with an ‘e’) Underdown has returned to Loxley in a playing capacity on Euphonium.
A programme from defunct South Wales Rugby League Club's solitary season, 1996, as Rugby Football League members. Hull Kingston Rovers issued this 36-pager (£1) for the Welshmen's June evening visit to 'New' Craven Park. Centre Gary Atkins scored a try hat-trick as Rovers won 40-16 in front of 1,421 spectators.
As in previous years, the Trade Facilitation Programme (TFP) of the EBRD invited its
members and everyone interested in the topic of international and intra-regional trade finance banking to attend the annual TFP event within the framework of the Annual Meeting. TFP currently includes over 100 Issuing Banks in the EBRD region and more than 800 Confirming Banks worldwide. In the last two years, the Programme provided essential support to its members and secured substantial flows of trade finance transactions under crisis-ridden market conditions. This year’s one-day event organised in a conference format offered a unique opportunity to share contemporary trade finance banking expertise including trends, specifics, and intricacies through presentations by professional trade finance bankers and specialists. The event also provided the stage for signing agreements with banks that have recently joined and hosted an award ceremony for the most active TFP banks of 2011

Owner Lee Smith, an engineer by trade, wanted to create the ultimate Karmann Ghia and has worked with Darryn Coleman of Midlands-based DC Classics to create this beautiful machine. The lowered stance is superb and although there is a 2in. roof chop, it's not immediately obvious because the B-pillar has been leant forward by 2in. to retain the original designs proportions and feel; the shaved rain gutters help this visual trick. The colour was created especially for the build, while the interior is fitted with lowered Audi TT seats trimmed in saddle brown leather with matching door cards.
The dashboard was created especially for the car and is actually based on a l.h.d. split-screen camper unit. Mechanically, it uses custom narrowed air suspension to create that all-important stance without widening the wheel arches, with a 2.1-litre engine in place producing 154b.h.p. A beautiful car, beautifully built, and one of the stars of the retro car scene.
