Manchmal kann ich dazu neigen, ein paar Profile euch zu zeigen.

homage to keren ann's album cover - not going anywhere

I was working on my motorcycle around dusk when I brushed a rose bush and this big beetle took off flying, sounding like "BRAAAAAAAPPP". It was entranced by the headlight and smacked into it, dropping to the ground onto its back where it flailed around a bit. I went inside and got a drinking glass to help him out (since he was so big and the lighting so poor, I wasn't too keen on helping him with fingers since I couldn't identify what kind of bug he was).

When I picked him up and got him into better lighting, i could see he wasn't anything fearsome.

He was so calm and good-natured, I brought him inside and let him sit on my dining room table to take some pictures. He was a very cooperative subject and just sat there unless I brushed him lightly on the back to guide him somewhere, then he'd walk calmly.

When we were done, I set him outside on the half-wall next to my porch and he was gone in the morning.

Another shot showing his weird (to me) eye shape and position.

Profile selfie ... but, the photographer forgot to tell me to smile

Re-do of a previous post of Douglas Falls. After looking at my first postings of the beautiful waterfall in West Virginia I was not satisfied with the processing. This is a side profile of Douglas Falls, and yes the rocks are that colorful as well as the water. Truely a wonderful waterfall to visit if you ever visit West Virginia!

A profile shot of the curbside. Anything which had been made of steel instead of aluminum has rusted, dripping down and staining the sides.

Thankfully all the rusty parts are being reproduced today, freshening up these details.

Uploaded for a blog post.

Background:

A few shots on our first day with our new 1954 Airstream Safari. At 22 feet long (19 foot body) it's 3 feet longer inside than our GlobeTrotter.

This larger floor plan will allow us to enjoy many functional improvements over the GlobeTrotter's cute, twin sofabed layout. One of these improvements will be a full time bed (4' by 7'10") in the rear: great for extended road trips to national parks and longer visits with friends.

A Salamnder I found I believe it may be a "Southern Dusky"

Climbed up on some roofs for this, surprised nobody said anything....

Profile shot. I seriously believe Wolf is the most handsome of all the Ringdoll boys. Made me so sad when they discontinued him, but lucky I was able to grab mine just in time!

If you look closely, you can see a little scratch below his eye. He must've gotten it in transit but I don't mind--I think I'm going to turn it into a scar when he gets his faceup. 'Cause he's tough like that.
