This is a door with a timeless message appropriate in this 2009 when a highly respected but black Harvard Professor (Henry Louis Gates, Jr.) is arrested inside his own home near Harvard Square for suspicion of being a burglar ... "No IntoLerance, Racism, Sexism, Homophobia, Hate ... " ... Thank you President Obama for illuminating on the stupidity of the police in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Brisbane August 10, 2014 Queensland, Australia. We fly home later today.

After four years working closely with Yayoi Kusama and the Public Art Unit in Brisbane, Sydney based Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery were finally able to announce the opening of the epic outdoor sculpture Eyes are Singing Out at Brisbane’s Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law on the 30th of August.

Composed of 350 enamelled steel eyes secured onto a 90 metre long arcing concrete wall, the sculpture is the only permanent artwork of Yayoi Kusama’s in Australia and is the largest artwork by this significant artist internationally.

The various eye designs that are utilised for the installation were created by Kusama using ink and brush and then translated into the steel and enamel pieces that cover the wall which spans one entire city centre block between Roma and George Streets.

Installed in conjunction with the construction of the new Queen Elizabeth II Courts of Law building as designed by Professor John Hockings of the highly acclaimed architectural firm Architectus, Eyes are Singing Out is a poignant reminder of the power and responsibility bestowed upon the guardians of law and justice.

”In a time when public accountability is of the utmost importance Kusama’s eyes not only look back at you, they surround the courts with looking” explains Jay Younger, the curator of the project. “Metaphorically the process of justice is made transparent through the building’s glass façade to the unblinking eyes, forever watching.”

Often described as the “window to the soul”, the eye is presented by Kusama as not only for looking out from within, but also for looking in from without. In her artist’s statement, Kusama says that “There is no end to the glorification of the peoples around the world. Their beautiful souls, having turned into hundreds of millions of eyes, continue to watch our future.”

Artist’s Statement:

"The numerous eyes that we dreamed about have spread into the whole sky, carrying with them a message of visual sensation.

It is a message of world peace and the overflowing happiness of humankind we have been praying for all the time.

There is no end to the glorification of the peoples around the world.

Their beautiful souls, having turned into hundreds of millions of eyes, continue to watch our future.

These eyes will keep on singing out louder and louder that love is forever and infinite, to the ends of the universe."

Jesse on the first pitch. It was -20C and snowing heavily on the day of our climb which meant we had the whole route to ourselves. Good times. Unfortunately I left my camera next to my pack at the base during the climb so I only got shots of this pitch.

Today's story and sketch "by me" you see Professor Pratup, piloting his B&R Swoopy

Coupe Glider who is here from "TCU", hired by the "EBRA" Earth Racing Blimp

Association, to see if there is a straight forward Mathematical Solution to why

some of the Race Blimp teams are having problems with loosing altitude,

and after doing an extensive study found the sinking was being caused by

multiple arrows sticking out of many of the Race favorites.

The Professor has come a long way from the Planet Lippo home of "TCU" Trigonometric

Calculus University, He was the only Professor available, and has no mathematical

training, but is real good at everyday common sense problems, which is very good,

none of the math teachers would have seen the arrows.

But Professor Pratup does teach a course in "DS" Dermatological Surgery,

Which is A hair transplant procedure in which a surgeon moves hair from Goats

to Aliens who want to empress Alien and Earth Girls with stylish real Goatee's,

or just a nice firm toupee, but that is a story for another time till then taa ta

Meet Professor Roger Collins. In the late 70s, Professor Collins developed radar technologies that helped further understand the flight patterns in seasonal bird migration, for which he won multiple awards in avian research. He now teaches high school physics and drama. He is also the president of the double breasted cockatoo preservation society.

Sorry, couldn't resist the play on words. This is the view from atop the Reichenbach Falls.

[Spoiler alert!]

Here, on 4 May 1891, the world-famous fictional private detective Sherlock Holmes fought his erstwhile arch-enemy Professor James Moriarty, the 'Napoleon of Crime' and they plunged to their deaths from approximately where I stood to take the picture. Or at least that's the story in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's book, 'The Adventure of the Final Problem'.

The Falls are a series of waterfalls on the Reichenbach stream in the Bernese Oberland region of Switzerland. They have a total drop of 250m. At 90m, the Upper Reichenbach Falls is one of the highest cataracts in the Alps (you can see a link to a more conventional view below). Today, a hydro-electric power company harnesses the flow of the Reichenbach Falls during certain times of year, reducing its flow.

One of the most hated Professors in the school.

She Blinded Me with Science was a song released by British musician, composer, musical director and professor Thomas Dolby (nee Robertson) in 1982.

Dolby emerged on the new wave scene in the early 1980s and released a number of best selling albums. Dolby plays keyboards and has composed movie and video game soundtracks as well as working as a session musician and producer. He is also a professor of music at John Hopkins University in the United States, heading the Peabody Institute's Music for New Media program.

My personal preference is for the BBCi webcast version of the lost Doctor Who story, 'Shada'. Featuring the Eighth rather than the Fourth Doctor, it has a fantastic cast and some no-to-be-sniffed at semi-animated art. Professor Chronotis' type 12 TARDIS is permanently disguised as his rooms in a distinguished Cambridge college and the console usually sits hidden in the corner, looking a bit like an old heater!

Very fun little photo!

After a great shoot yesterday I had to get my weekly strobist photo done! My other hobby is home audio. This is a vacuum tube pre-amp. A while back I replaced all the non-polarized electrolytic caps with Solen metalized polypropylene. My buddies think I'm a bit obsessive... I also build my own speakers from scratch too, it's great fun!

All comments and feedback are greatly appreciated! Be sure to check out the lighting set up in comments below!

I had the privilege of being 2nd photographer tonight. I got to photograph one of my modern day heroes. He is a genuine guy who had no air and graces.

As I was the second shooter all images had to be Terry's copyright. I didn't mind one bit giving Terry my images as I got to be in the presence of my hero. Have a look at the link above to see our work of the day :-)
