When I think of people working in the Stockholm subway or on the commuter trains back home, I think of people who would rather be doing something else and they just don't care very much about their job. I don't mean to offend anyone but that's just the way I see it.
Here in Japan though it's very different. It might not be a well paid job but still, the station attendants take it very seriously and when I see them doing their thing (waving, checking, signaling . . .) I always get a sense of the professional pride they all seem to have. And a part of me is asking why that doesn't exist at home . . .

my company came in to talk with a company that specialized in video/teleconferencing hardware. this is the setup we saw in their lobby. are you serious? this looks horrible. I give them an F for presentation.
Set up for riding. The frame has a 57cm top tube which is about 20mm longer than I prefer.
I use short 70mm stems on longer top tube bikes because of chronic neck problems. They allow me to ride in a more upright position.
Even though the bike weighs a ton comparatively speaking, it's one of my favorite riding and handling bikes. The WF Holdsworth flyer says that the frame is "Built with good quality tubing..." whatever that means. I suspect that it's made of straight gage Reynolds 531. It takes a 26.8mm seat post which fits a down tube with a 0.8mm wall thickness. Straight gage Reynolds 531 tubing came with 0.7mm, 0.8mm and 0.9mm wall thickness main tubes.

Lamp beads are made by winding pieces of variously coloured glass material onto a wire. Czech lamp beads are unique in the family of glass beads due to the method of their production and the technological possibilities. They are the only ones to be exclusively manufactured by means of the hand working of glass which means that every one is an original little work of art. Even when working in a series with a uniform design, the beads are never exact copies of each other. Hand production enables the almost unlimited combination of coloured glass into a single bead, variations of shape and extreme sizes. They are created by melting glass rods manufactured at PRECIOSA ORNELA.
The High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod organizes courses for public. Selected employees of Business and Marketing Department of Preciosa Ornela, a.s. participated in one course focused on wound pearls of lamp glass.
You can tell that this woman has been honing her begging skills for years to appear this perfect.
Yet it is too perfect to be convincing to the critical observer: From the choice of colors and properly padded and neatly tucked, clean and hooded outfit for the autumn weather to the folded rag as a knee rest, this pose even allows for the occasional nap while riding the gravy train of pity.
Remember that she chose her spot wisely along a path in Venice with the highest tourist traffic, not a side alley, not another random city.
I made a point in chipping in myself, considering it payment for her very professional modeling.
