This is the Parker Solar Probe that was revealed to the media March 28th and will be launched from Cape Canaveral in July or August. It's goal is to trace the flow of energy and understand the heating of the solar corona and to explore what accelerates the solar wind. DSC_3941-002

Thought the paint job was sick on this one, plus I can't remember the last time I saw one of these.

.
True and frightening story happened
long before daylight, real scary stuff !
I'm laying in bed minding my own
business when out of nowhere an
alien appears right next to the bed.
Said alien is breathing hot air on me
while probing my body with a wet
probing object. At the same time
the alien's making deep guttural
noises while waving a fuzzy
looking flag around, this
could be the end ;-0-
Next thing that happens, an angel
starts whispering things in my ear.
Holy Moly aliens are trying to pull
me one way while an angel pulls
me back to earth, then I wake up.
Wow, that was a close call !
Pumpkin Pie is jumping around like
a tree frog on a hot rock while
no# 1 wife is tickling my ear.
See what I have to put up with ! ;-)
Well at this point I jump up an let
Pumpkin Pie outside then jump
back in bed for some revenge.
By 6:08AM we are landing in the m/c field.
Dogs are set free and off they go stopping
at every twig an tree to pee then racing
in a forward motion to the next target.
OK, now we'll discuss this photo ---
Ms Pumpkin Pie the Princess is grazing
on the long juicy, tender blades of grass.
This's a high berm with the river on the other side.
The dogs love to graze here just like milk cows.
An hour or so later we arrive back at base camp.
All the dogs are fed an soon after they are in bed.
Thank you for your support, greatly appreciated ;-)
Thank You.

The second generation of the Ford Probe was built from 1992 until 1997. It's based on the platform of the Mazda 626. The 2.5 litre V6 engine also came from Mazda. This is a version for the European markets with some changes to meet the legal requirements here.

Cerro Armazones, in Chile's Atacama Desert, is the site of ESO’s upcoming giant, the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). In this image, we see the road leading up to this 3000m-high mountain, and in the distance, ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT). The lasers of the VLT reach towards the sky, parallel to the Milky Way. Cerro Armazones was actually the first suggested site for the VLT, and now the mountain will finally get a telescope of its own.
Working at high altitude is not easy, but Cerro Armazones is both dry and has almost no artificial light pollution, making it a perfect site with excellent conditions for the world’s biggest eye on the sky. In this picture we see a red shimmer illuminating the dark sky, a natural phenomenon called airglow.
With an anticipated first light later this decade, and equipped with a range of scientific instruments, the ELT will be able to probe the Milky Way and its stars and planets, as well as look back in time to unravel the mysteries of cosmos. One can truly say that good things come to those who wait.

...Like "what would the alien probe for a LEGO minifig look like?"
I had received some suggestions on building a vignette using a LEGO theme and/or one with aliens. Here's what came to mind (I went with the "Alien Conquest" theme, but using a 'classic' alien)
Build 42 of 52 in my "8x8x52" vignette series.
The Probe Droid is one of my favorite droids in Star Wars.
After getting one in the small Hoth set from last year, I modified it and was inspired by others' versions and now I have a more accurate version that I am happy with.
For now..
Anyway I hope you all like it.
May the Force Be with You! :)
Something quick I threw together earlier this year as a joke. I ended up kinda liking it. (In other words, another build posted in order to catch up :P)
At least I found a use for those stupid stud-shooters.

Through the creations that I build, I hope to inspire other young (or perhaps older) LEGO builders to unleash their inner creativity. We all need a positive way to express ourselves, so let's let LEGO be an extension of us. Your creativity belongs to you, and nobody can take that away. Build what you want to build, and how you want to build it.
Shot with the new Astrhori 18mm f/8 macro probe lens.
I reviewed this lens on my blog with the specific goal of testing how well it can get into tight spaces like LEGO sets and capture photos.

Probe droids (also known as probots or recon droids) were droids that were specifically designed and programmed to perform reconnaissance duties. These units were often dispatched by various space navies to gather information from a variety of different locations, reporting anything of significance as defined by specific preprogrammed protocols.

moving fast so the stars streak being synchronized on the asteroid.
This is 17 h post impact showing a tail emerging in the 2 o'clock position of the asteroid, there also seems to be a coma/ejecta(?) structure between the 10 and 12 o'clock position. These features are seen in low resolution here and in amazing detail in the Hubble images.

9 years in flight, the New Horizons probe will reveal a lot more information about the dwarf planet today on July 14th 2015. I built this about a month ago for my local library for preparation of the Pluto flyby which has just recently happened. Tested my SNOT knowledge and was a thoroughly enjoyable design build.
