Going through some old photos from earlier this year.
4hour exposure at f/5.6, Provia 100 slide film.
Lovely clear night, bit of condensation and dust to contend with though.
I am not sure whether I like slide film or not. But this is a lot sharper than its negative counterpart given the relative small size of 35mm film. But the film stock itself is rated at ASA100 anyway, so we should expect it to be sharp with minimal grain, right? Besides, the rendition of the sky looks kind of surreal with its purplish colors. Definitely the whole scene has a digital look to it and I could probably be able to reproduce its look with Adobe Lightroom easily. For landscape, there is no doubt that I would prefer slide film because of their characteristics mentioned above but at what cost? It 's not cheap to shoot with it at all. Each roll of Fuji Provia or Velvia costs me at least $15, and this is before development. So, I am not sure if I would continue to shoot with it unless I am looking for a specific look. That said, I still have a few rolls of Kodak Ektachrome that I haven't tried. Maybe it would win me over. Who knows? As of now Kodak Provia and Ektar are still my favorite color film stock.

I though I'd put up a photo I really like for my 1000th. I've been taking photos of this location for a while and waiting and hoping for a classic car to be parked in front by the old pumps just to complete the image. Well, my lucky day finally arrived. Hope you enjoy, check out some of my other photos on my blog.
