Robert Harbin's Zig Zag Girl by Morgan's Happy Place

Robert Harbin of South Africa was one of the greatest inventors and performers of stage magic of all time. His Zig Zag Girl illusion is regarded as his masterpiece, and after his debut in 1965, it quickly became one of the most popular - and pirated - effects. Harry Blackstone, Jr., became one of the first Americans authorized by Harbin to preform this illusion, and Blackstone's version is the one on display.

Built by master illusion builder John Gaughan of Los Angeles, this effect shows the magician's assistant entering the cabinet and being horizonally trisected by two metal sheet blades. Her midsection is then pushed completely out to one side. The feat can be preformed surrounded by the audience, which made it practical for many non-traditional performing venues. Assisted by his wife Gay, Blackstone performed it throughout his career.

This was a private show for the Cable Industry by Motorola. It was staged in several Boston Night Clubs in the same block. I found the credentials and got access.

This pix is made from two scanned negatives, inexpertly blended with Adobe Elements. The SLR was dangling by the strap from the balcony.

Fighting is essentially a masculine idea; a woman's weapon is her tongue.

So yeah, today was our first day back to school from break! Yay! Haha. Now I have something to do all day before karate. "Bob" and "Dan" weren't there though because they're wussies =p

Anyway... So, I've been emailing "Eric" back and fourth, and I've concluded that all he really wants... is my body probably. I mean, I don't know for sure, but I have a pretty good guess as to that's what he wants. And I told him in the last email I sent him; "Look- I like you. You're a good guy, and I trust you, but I'm not really the type of girl that does that. I mean, if we were in a relationship, the story might be different, but we're not so... Same story. Like I said, I like you, but I'm just not that type. If that's what you want from me, sorry." I mean, I have to draw the line. I'm just not that type of girl. I hope I didn't sound like a bitch because I really like him. But if that's all he wants, then I don't want a relationship with him, and I'll have to move on.

And it sucks because it's like all the guys I'm interested in only want my body or anything else, and are only interested in me for what I have to offer in looks, not personality.

*sigh* I'll stop. I'm just... ranting... I'm nervous about his next email too... =/
