in the dimming light of an overcast evening, a man channels his strength and determination into a powerful swing. the motion, blurred and vigorous, captures the raw energy and anticipation of reaching the peak, the bell at the top. surrounded by the quiet ambiance of a near-empty courtyard in Poing, the scene is charged with a sense of personal challenge and the echo of triumph that awaits. this moment, frozen yet fluid, speaks to the timeless pursuit of surpassing limits and the sweet sound of victory that follows.

Saint Nicholas church ruin (Sankt Nicolai kyrkoruin) is located in Visby, Gotland, Sweden. The church was first built in 1220 – 1225 as a parish church for the Germans in the north parish of medieval Visby and was named after the patron saint of seafarers Saint Nicholas. But after a fire destroyed the church it was abandoned and the present cathedral of Saint Mary was inaugurated as a parish church for both the German and Gutnish parishes. In 1228 the Dominican Order took the damage church and started to rebuild it to a convent church. When Lübeck invaded Visby in 1525 the church was burnt to the ground and it was never rebuilt after due to the Protestant Reformation in Sweden.

The church ruin is now open to visitors during summer and can also be hired for weddings and private events. Actually a wedding took place inside this ruin when I took this picture and later in the evening the ruin hosted a company party.

Greystone Mansion, completed 1928, is a Tudor Revival on a landscaped estate in Beverly Hills. Greystone's history includes a scandalous 1929 murder-suicide for starters. The house & grounds are now a park, often used for movies, TV, private events & marriage proposals. On this day, a fashion show occupied the formal garden. [#2 in album of 15]
