(Tiziano Terzani)
Happiness is...Running on the sand, wind in your hair, knowing that no one can hurt you

songs of desperation
I played them for you
a moment, a love
a dream, aloud
a kiss, a cry
our rights, our wrongs
a moment, a love
a dream, aloud
a moment, a love
a dream,
aloud

I don't know how much happy can be this day this year...however, my wish is we all can be out of the general economic mess as soon as possible...
(my contract will end at the end of June and I have to wait until the end of august to know if I'll get another contract for the next year...so, only hope stays...)

The traditional dish of the Labor Day in Reggio Emilia are the "capelletti".
Small stuffed pasta served in broth or topped with salted cream and Parmesan cheese.
The name "capelletti" comes from the small hat shape. The Italian word for hat is "cappello" and its diminutive is "cappelletto".

The first May day celebration in Italy took place in 1890. It started initially as an attempt to celebrate workers' achievements in their struggle for their rights and for better social and economic conditions. It was abolished under the Fascist Regime and immediately restored after the Second World War. (During the fascist period, a "Holiday of the Italian labour" (Festa del lavoro italiano) was celebrated on the 21st of April, the date the of Natale di Roma, when ancient Rome was allegedly born.)
Now, May Day is a very important celebration in Italy.

There is power in a factory, power in the land
Power in the hands of a worker
But it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand
There is power in a Union
Now the lessons of the past were all learned with workers' blood
The mistakes of the bosses we must pay for
From the cities and the farmlands to trenches full of mud
War has always been the bosses' way, sir

Since the mid-nineteenth century the "Figurines" of the crib Albissola, Ligurian town in the province of Savona, were made almost exclusively from "figulinai" women working in factories in the clay pots albissolesi, "palleggiandola", ie slamming a palms of hands to another until it becomes more plastic and free from intrusion of air to facilitate on the lathe work of those who forged pots and pans.
Some of this clay was brought home to continue the work, piecework (with the help of the whole family), making the "pins", small cones used as supports in the furnace. The remainder, which had the gift to the workers, was pressed into molds to make plaster statues which were then arranged radially into a bowl and carried to the furnace (which worked), for cooking or cooked at home, covering the valley coal and giving fire.
When cooked, all the decorations were provided by using colors cold, bright to attract attention and convey a sense of Christmas cheer.

resta allegro come sei
custodisci l'ultima idea noi ci prepariamo a seguirti
