And for the record, not directly related to Obama’s administration, as far as I know. (Though it was a talking point of Newt Gingrich and other GOP presidential candidates in 2012)

while walking at a flea market i chanced upon a bird vendor with a green parakeet on his shoulder. wild parakeets are known to bite so this made his parakeet domesticated and possibly hand reared. i started talking with the vendor to ask more questions about his parakeet and my hunch was right. he placed the parakeet on my hand and, guess what, i ended up taking it home he he he. these shots were taken when i was negotiating with the vendor. price: USD5.00 for a hand reared domesticated parakeet.
The Philippine hanging parrot (Loriculus philippensis) is also widely known as the colasisi[2] taken from its local Tagalog name, "kulasisi". It is a small parrot species of the Psittaculidae family. It includes about eleven subspecies, which are all native to only the Philippines; however, the exact taxonomy is unclear, and at least one of the subspecies might become split off and become a separate species if further research provides clarification.
They are mainly green with areas of red, orange, yellow, and blue varying between subspecies. Only the males have a red area on their fronts, except for the population living on Camiguin, where neither male nor female have this red area. They make nests in tree holes and, unusually for a parrot, the female takes nesting material back to the nest.

On a recent tour of Quebec City, we came across this building - the only skyscraper in the old city of Quebec. It was pointed out to us from a distance, and then asked what this building resembled. After learning a bit of the history, we found that the building was designed by the architectural firm of Ross and MacDonald and built in the 1930-31. From a distance it resembles the famous Empire State Building and sure enough, that building was designed by the same firm that designed this structure. Thought I would try to capture it at night. Not really enough room to get the whole building into the frame.
Quite a beautiful building.

For a cheap price you get this view from the top of Charles Bridge Tower. The landscape is breathtaking, but it does not show how crowded is the tiny space shared by hords of tourists up there. I literally had one minute to take only three pictures before some guy starts yelling my tripod was blocking the way of everyone.
This photo was shot in f/8 and 4secs (I manage to take another one in f/16, but the star effect of the lights bothered me). Anyway, I am not happy with any of the three pictures I took, mainly because I didn't have time to set a proper exposure or enhance the composition (the light in the left corner bugs me a lot).
But it is a shot that represents how amazing Prague is with the lines of the bridge running towards the Castle in the hill, making a kind of natural composition (something more common in Prague than in any other place I've been)
