The first Monday of October is World Day of Bullying Prevention. This happens in schools, online, and even here on Flickr and SL. This post was inspired by Dax's song Joker.

Taken last year on our fourth Monarch’s Way section from Broad Campden to Moreton-in-Marsh. It was such a beautiful spring day; I’m just looking back at some of the photos that didn’t get added to the album. We are now planning 10 more walks this year which will take us south through the Cotswolds from Cirencester to Bristol and hoping to raise more funds for our chosen charity, Grassroots Suicide Prevention.

Cathedral Notre-Dame-du-Puy

The Cathedral is the origin of the Chemin du Puy, one of the principal origin points of the pilgrimage route of Santiago de Compostela in France.
"Le Puy-en-Velay's most striking attraction is the Cathédrale Notre-Dame du Puy, dating chiefly from the first half of the 12th century. The façade, striped in courses of white sandstone and black volcanic breccia, is reached by a flight of sixty steps, and consists of three orders, the lowest composed of three high arcades opening into the porch, which extends beneath the first bays of the nave. Above it are three central windows that light the nave, and above them are three gables on the gable-end of the nave, flanked by two openwork screening gables. The south transept doorway is sheltered by a Romanesque porch. Behind the choir rises a separate Romanesque bell-tower in seven storeys.
The bays of the nave are roofed by octagonal cupolas, the cupola at the crossing forming a lantern; the choir and transepts are barrel vaulted. The striking parti-colored cloister is connected to remains of 13th-century fortifications that separated the cathedral precincts from the rest of the city. Near the cathedral, the 11th-century baptistery of St John is built on Roman foundations.

This is a "Muselet" - a sort of wire cage which prevents the cork in a champagne bottle from emerging too quickly due to the pressure of the contents. It prevents a cork projectile from injuring guests - and also an unfortunate loss of unrestrained bubbly! Always stay safe with Champagne!

The Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve is a beautiful wetland site located along the Vedder River. Managed by the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve Society, the site is known for one of the largest breeding colonies of the Great Blue Herons in BC as well as a wide variety of wildlife. Over 90 active Great Blue Heron nests.

In this particular instance, if abatement is necessary, removal of the glue daubs from the drywall ceiling substrate would likely be "easier" than if the adhesive were applied to plaster or concrete material due to the fact that the paper surface typically just peels away when removing the daubs while they remain intact. Although this process would leave a tattered, unattractive surface all over the drywall.
Plaster, concrete, or other hard substrate surface frequently involves manual chipping, obviously causing damage to both the brittle asbestos adhesive and substrate and requiring construction of a proper enclosure to assist prevention of potential contamination issues.
Oftentimes, if the entire ceiling system is to be removed and the asbestos glue pods may be impacted by the destructive removal process, an enclosure is constructed with plastic sheeting and HEPA air machines to contain the work area and should be conducted by properly trained and licensed asbestos abatement workers.

On 29 March, it was rumoured that the PCR screening results in Pudong, Shanghai were so horrific that Puxi would be closed for control one after another earlier than the original date of 1 April. This caused a rush to buy.
An entrepreneur has come up with these boxes to prevent porch pirates... This one block in Bed Stuy had four of them (three in this picture). CN 8357 makes its formal debut in Durand, Michigan, raising awareness about the 988 Suicide Prevention Hotline in the United States and Canada. This project was kickstarted by Jonathan Quigley, a sales account manager for CN. I interviewed JQ after the locomotive left the station (video coming soon) and mental health awareness and suicide prevention is something that clearly means a lot to him, especially as a railroader. What started as a free hand sketch turned into a locomotive that'll be saving lives and reassuring people that someone is always there for them, and you are not alone/tu n'es pas seul.e. It's a beautiful design coupled with a message that resonates with so many people, including myself. He's asked if you see this locomotive, use the hashtag #CN8357 and spread the message.
After striking out with B727 on the OC this morning, I was on my way home when I got word of the MBTA Wash Train waiting in Walpole for Keolis 714. Since I was nearby, I decided to jump off 495 and run up to Norfolk. Here we see the Wash Train on the former New York, New Haven, and Hartford Railroad's Midland Route at Norfolk, MA with some neat power.
