I served 30 years in the Armed Forces of the United States and know many men and women of honor; though I would not state that rank, nor station in life, was a measure of that appellation.
It is, however, hard to argue against Dwight David Eisenhower as one of the most honorable men to serve his country. Ike was a man of his times, a professional soldier, who was never truly hardened by war; a leader, who held his role as Chief of State to be that of exemplary citizen, appealing to our better nature as people; an executive, who understood that compromise is as necessary in governance as rallying people to your vision.
One needn't look too far past his address to British Parliament just following D-Day and his appointment as Allied Commander in Chief during World War II to understand the measure of honor he believed in: "Humility must always be the portion of any man who receives acclaim earned in the blood of his followers and the sacrifices of his friends." He goes on to state, "The only attitude in which a commander may with satisfaction receive the tributes of his friends is in the humble acknowledgement that no matter how unworthy he may be, his position is the symbol of great human forces that have labored arduously and successfully for a righteous cause."
Oh, how this country could use people in positions of leadership who understood those words, today.

Presidents Park in Williamsburg, Va. was the creation of Everette H. “Haley” Newman II, a local entrepreneur, and sculptor David Adickes. The park opened in 2004 and closed its doors due to bankruptcy in 2010. In 2012, a company bought the property and it was time for the sculptures to be demolished. The contractor who was hired to demolish them elected to save them and move them to his private property eleven miles up the road, which is where they have resided for over a decade.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a meeting with National Security Advisor to the President of the United States Jake Sullivan who is on a visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State thanked the Advisor to the U.S. President Joseph Biden for the support to our country at a difficult time, when Russia carried out a full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
The parties discussed the issues of further support for Ukraine from the U.S. for the defense and liberation of its territory from the occupiers, increasing the capabilities of our state to protect critical infrastructure, financial and humanitarian support, strengthening sanctions against the aggressor state of the Russian Federation, and consolidating international support for Ukraine.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy also presented Jake Sullivan with the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise of the II degree, which he was awarded for significant personal merits in strengthening interstate cooperation, and support for the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
The President noted that he was very pleased to present this order to Jake Sullivan.
The Advisor to the U.S. President thanked for the high award and said that it was an honor for him to receive it.
The Head of State also awarded Senior Director for Europe at the U.S. National Security Council Amanda Sloat with the Order of Merit of the III degree.
Happy Presidents' Day, you lousy commie pinkoes!
Just in time for Washington's birthday, I present to you this macro photo vignette! I shot this display with a wide-angle lens at the widest aperture, with the LEGO pieces on top a pane of glass with a light blue cloth backdrop. I had multiple lamps pointed up against the scene to give bright white highlights. The flag is a retooled version of a waving American flag MOC I've used in a few previous setups; I made a colonial-era 13-star flag, which is hard to tell since it's out of focus.
