President Daud with some of The most Outstanding School Teachers at Presidential Palace Kabul - Afghanistan. it might be 1973 or 1974. My Mother is seen in this picture - the 3rd woman from the right. she awarded a medal for outstanding service for Education.
President Daud took power from his Cousin King Zahir in 1972 by a coup d'etat and form a Republic Government for the first time in Afghanistan. later in 1978 he replaced with a bloody coup d'etat by Followers of Soviet Union Communist Regime and was killed with all his family members.
The president of Benin, Yayi Boni, arrives at the school in Zagnanado, Benin to speak at the school. A girl turns her face away from the dust.
Following up on an earlier post. I created this version to show more of the parade (stitched together from a nearby slide in the shoot). There should be more space between cars, and another motorcycle on the passenger side, but that's what you get. I left a vestige of the crosswalk line for comparison.
Still would like to locate time and place. Believed it to be taken during his Congressional Campaign trip in New England of October 1962. Slide develop date stamped JAN 1963.

Met President Carter at his book signing in West Bend, Wisconsin tonight. The line was very long & we waited for 2 1/4 hours - but it was worth it as he spoke to each person. Signing began at 7; books were sold out at 7:10.

I always enjoy seeing Rushmore. The most patriotic place I have visited.
If you have the opportunity to visit Rushmore, make sure you go to the night lighting. It honors the Presidents, but also our Veterans. The Veterans are called up on stage, and one of them raises the flag. Then everyone sings God Bless America. It is quite a moving event, or least it was for me and the people that attended
it with me.
