The Eastern Screech-Owls that preside over Britannia are back in public view and in session. A long early morning walk began with this bird, out of its hideaway and open-eyed, but ready to drop down inside the tree for a long rest.
The Screech-Owls breed in the conservation area. They often adopt perches that are low, open, and completely exposed. I am amazed they receive less harassment from other creatures than they do, although last fall, on another early morning, I watched a Downy Woodpecker go down inside this tree and flush the Owl, to the alarm of several Nuthatches and Chickadees that had joined in.
There is a natural barrier between humans and the Owl - not insurmountable but enough to guarantee the bird some space from all but the real fanatics. Most people who come to the area are interested in and protective of the wildlife. And cameras can only get so close. It may be as well that their presence in the area for years has removed the novelty.
And the Owl is in hiding for most of the day, so there are sporadic early morning visitors and some late afternoon folks, ready for the Owl’s return to the perch and hunting preparation as the dark falls.
Plaza Monastiraki - Atenas - Grecia

Monastiraki square - Athens - Greece
Monastiraki takes its name from the small monastery that presides over the main square. Adjacent to the Plaka neighborhood, the area offers the possibility of taking a tour through various historical eras in a few square meters. In chronological order, the visitor can admire the remains of Hadrian's Library before directing his steps towards the interior of the Agora, and end up visiting one of the two mosques that are in the vicinity, Tsistaraki, which houses inside the Kyriazópoulos Ceramic Museum, and Fethiyé. The latter, the most colorful, was built by the Ottomans in the 15th century on the occasion of the visit of Mehmet the Conqueror to the city.
At one end of the neighborhood stands the Tower of the Winds, in the archaeological site of the Roman Agora. Octagonal in shape, it was a multifunctional water clock, as it also served as a weather vane. Each of the eight walls represents a direction of the wind, which was indicated by the weather vane according to the will of Aeolus, the Greek god who stirred the air. It was built in the 1st century BC. by the architect and astronomer Andrónikos Kyrrestes, and the structure is made entirely of marble.
Olympic Marina is presided over by its twin towers (1992): The Mapfre Tower on the right and the Hotel Arts on the left. World famous Canadian architect, Frank Gehry, placed his fish sculpture at the foot of the hotel. It is 56 metres long and 35 metres high and seems to be longing to jump into the blue waters of the Mediterranean. Summarized from:

Almighty God's Word "God Presides Over the Fate of All Mankind" | The Church of Almighty God
Introduction
Almighty God says, "If you are a true Christian, then you will surely believe that the rise and fall of any country or nation occurs according to the designs of God. God alone knows the fate of a country or nation, and God alone controls the course of this mankind. If mankind wishes to have a good fate, if a country wishes to have a good fate, then man must bow down to God in worship, repent and confess before God, or else the fate and destination of man will unavoidably end in catastrophe."

All day long, sunshine struggled to overcome the clouds that lingered after yesterday's rain and last evening's storms. I, too, struggled to overcome the melancholy brought on by the lingering weather. By this evening, it seemed as if clear sky may win. I stood on the front porch and watched the last wispy, feathery clouds move eastward at breakneck speed, high in the sky.
I brewed the first coffee of the day just before sunset and poured a mug to take to the dam so I could watch the sunset.
These colors are the fastest home remedy available for melancholy.

Kings Bluff presides over the scene as traffic for Winona, MN follows a decent looking pair of EMD 60-Series locomotives on Union Pacific local LTA 41. Thundering west on Canadian Pacific’s River Subdivision at Donehower, MN the Winona bound local originated at Adams, WI and is on its weekly run to Winona. Once at Winona, the train will shove into the small UP yard and the crew will put the train away. During the week, a crew will switch out the cars brought in by LTA 41 and service the customers in town before LTA 42 takes the traffic east to Adams on Friday evening.

a life is a series of fleeting moments. a brief walk through a patch of sunlight on a city street. it is temporary, unrecorded, and quickly forgotten. but the walls are a permanent record. they hold the silent, painted faces of the judges. they do not speak, they do not intervene. they simply watch. a constant, silent presence, presiding over the small, unwritten trials of everyday life.
This monk greets you as you visit Wat Rakhang Khositaram from the usual way of arriving via boat from the Chao Praya River.
I believe him to be Somdet To (1788-1872), known formally as Somdet Phra Buddhacarya, was one of the most famous Buddhist monks during Thailand's Rattanakosin Period and continues to be the most widely known monk in Thailand. He is widely revered in Thailand as a monk who is said that he possessed magical powers and his amulets are widely sought after. His images and statues are some of the most widespread religious icons in Bangkok.

The common hippopotamus (Hippopotamus amphibius), or hippo, is a large, mostly herbivorous, semiaquatic mammal native to sub-Saharan Africa, and one of only two extant species in the family Hippopotamidae.
After the elephant and rhinoceros, the common hippopotamus is the third-largest type of land mammal and the heaviest extant artiodactyl. The closest living relatives of the Hippopotamidae are cetaceans (whales, dolphins, porpoises, etc.) from which they diverged about 55 million years ago.
Adults average 1,500 kg (3,310 lb) and 1,300 kg (2,870 lb) for males and females respectively. Despite its stocky shape and short legs, it is capable of running 30 km/h (19 mph) over short distances.
The common hippopotamus inhabits rivers, lakes and mangrove swamps, where territorial bulls preside over a stretch of river and groups of five to thirty females and young. During the day, they remain cool by staying in the water or mud; reproduction and childbirth both occur in water.
They emerge at dusk to graze on grasses. While hippopotamuses rest near each other in the water, grazing is a solitary activity and hippos are not territorial on land. They are threatened by habitat loss and poaching for their meat and ivory canine teeth. - Source Wikipedia
Presiding over the plaza of the National Gallery of Canada is this huge bronze, stainless steel and marble sculpture called Maman by the artist Louise Bourgeois.
The sculpture, which depicts a spider, is among the world's largest, measuring over 30 ft high and over 33 ft wide (9 m x 10 m). It includes a sac containing 32 marble eggs and its abdomen and thorax are made of rubbed bronze. It felt odd standing underneath it!
"It was inspired by the artist's own mother, and stands as a nurturing and protective symbol of fertility, shelter and the home. With its potentially terrifying scale, however, the sculpture also incites a mixture of fear and curiosity." (From a sign at the site.)
Like a sentinel...
Presiding over the streaming traffic and making sure everything was on the up and up. I imagined, in case of emergency, guns would pop out of the holes that went around this fortress and start flat-blasting anything that moved. So, I approached cautiously, tripod in hand and held over my head, so they could see that it wasn't a weapon and that I advanced towards them in peace. "Ha! Ha! Stoopid me!" I had to laugh aloud. It was only a water tower.
Many many years ago this pelican came into our lives and has presided over the living room ever since. We now think it would feel very odd if she were not looking over our shoulders. The place where we lived in that period of time was well known for its pelican population!

The crescent moon presides over the final rays of sunset. But can it really do this?
Obviously, this is a composite image, but when I do them, I like to try to keep at least some degree of realism. In this case, I moved the moon north and a little lower than it actually was when I photographed it. So the phase is correct for the foliage and time of day, but I had to wait for it to clear the trees and to be surrounded by deep enough darkness to get a clean image of it.
I don't know if the astronomical geometry could ever put a moon lit this way directly above a sunset. Astronomers and avid night time photographers, let me know.
But creatively, that's not the point. This is an image about the evening and the change of administration from the governor of the day to the governor of the night.
So I hope even if it is not quite astronomical truth it reveals mythic truth.
And if not then I can only advise you in the venerable if slightly paraphrased words of Mystery Science Theater 3000: "repeat to yourself it's just a [photograph], I should really just relax…." 😆

Introduction
Almighty God says, "God created this world, He created this mankind, and moreover He was the architect of ancient Greek culture and human civilization. Only God consoles this mankind, and only God cares for this mankind night and day. Human development and progress is inseparable from the sovereignty of God, and the history and future of mankind are inextricable from the designs of God. If you are a true Christian, then you will surely believe that the rise and fall of any country or nation occurs according to the designs of God. God alone knows the fate of a country or nation, and God alone controls the course of this mankind. If mankind wishes to have a good fate, if a country wishes to have a good fate, then man must bow down to God in worship, repent and confess before God, or else the fate and destination of man will unavoidably end in catastrophe" (The Word Appears in the Flesh).

The Church of San Miguel Bajo was erected as a parish church in 1501 on the site of a former mosque. It was built during the 16th century, in two stages. In the first period, between 1528 and 1539, the main chapel and a section of the nave were built. The masters in charge of the works were Antonio Fernández, a mason, and Gil Martín, a carpenter. Between 1551 and 1557, the rest of the nave was built, with Alonso de Villanueva, mason, and Gabriel Martínez, carpenter, being the masters in charge of the works.
The church is Mudejar in style, with Renaissance touches. It is raised above the street level and the square by staircases that reach the two entrance doors. A doorway is located at the foot of the church. The design is attributed to Diego de Siloé and was executed by Juan de Alcántara and Pedro de Asteasu.
It has a semicircular arch framed by Corinthian columns attached to pilasters, which bear the coats of arms of Archbishop Guerrero. Above the entablature there is a niche with the image of San Miguel, made in 1558 by Toribio de Liébana. On both sides there are oculi supported by angels.
The sacred Wei Tuo Fa Gong Temple is a Buddhist place of worship situated at the gorgeous island, Pulau Ubin in Singapore. Seated on a small hillock that offers a beautiful view of a nearby pond teeming with turtles and carps, this pristine temple houses shrines dedicated to different Hindu and Buddhist gods. The sight of innumerable coloured prayer flags adorning the area is breathtaking, beckoning a considerable number of visitors. The exquisite Wei Tuo Fa Gong Temple emits a serene aura which is perfect to meditate in peace.
In comparison to the other temples in Singapore, Wei Tuo Fa Gong looks more like a humble abode. A sizeable golden statue of Buddha sitting on a lotus greets visitors at the entrance. This unique idol serves as a predecessor to several other statues of Buddha in various postures placed throughout this place of worship. The Wei Tuo Fa Gong Temple structure, resembling a house rather than a place of worship, has an extension constructed underneath a shelter which includes a living area and a dining place. It is surrounded by a lush garden which adds to the charm of this serene temple. Owing to the rural setting of this humble Buddhist sanctuary, a rocky road leads to this religious place. The maintenance of this radiant temple is done by the resident monks and the devotees.
The presiding deity of the Kotilingeshwara temple is lord Shiva. The temple has one of the largest lingams in the world. The main attraction of the temple is a huge lingam measuring 108 ft (33 m) tall and 35 ft (11 m) tall Nandi statue, surrounded by lakhs of small lingams spread over an area of 15 acres. The Nandi is installed over a platform which is 60 feet (18 m) in length, 40 feet (12 m) in width and 4 feet (1.2 m) in height. There are eleven small temples constructed within the premises for various deities. The temple was founded with the intent of installing one crore lingams, hence the name "Kotilingeshwara" where 'Koti' means 'crore'. The statues varying between 1 foot (0.30 m) and 3 feet (0.91 m) in height are installed around the temple by devotees since 1980.
