Tree Pipit - Anthus Trivialis
Tree pipits have brown streaked upper parts and pale under parts with further streaking on buff tinged chest and flanks. They are very similar to meadow pipits but, on close inspection, may be distinguished by their heavier bill, shorter hind claw and fine streaking on the flank - they also have very different calls. Widespread summer visitors to the UK, they occur in particularly high densities in Western uplands. Their population has undergone declines over the past 25 years, especially in central and southern England.
Tree Pipit is a true summer visitor, with the first birds returning from sub-Saharan Africa in late March and the bulk of passage taking place from mid-April to mid-May. As its name suggests, it is associated much more with trees than is Meadow Pipit, although it must be remembered that the latter frequently lands in the tops of trees and bushes, particularly when flushed. But Tree Pipits habitually use trees for both singing and feeding, when they may walk up and down the branches searching for food, constantly wagging their tails as they do so. I have never seen Meadow Pipits do this.
Tree Pipits are characteristically birds of heathland, forest clearings and young forestry plantations, with scattered trees and bushes usually a prerequisite. Meadow Pipit is a bird of open country, particularly common in upland areas. These habitat differences are often the first clue in the identification process, but do not rely totally on habitat, particularly at migration sites when the differences break down.

They wear wide flared trousers, collarless shirts, large hats and travel all over the world: journeymen. The color of their clothing indicates which branch they belong to: carpenters and roofers wear black. They all have a journeyman's certificate in their pocket, are unmarried, debt-free and younger than 30 years old - these are the prerequisites for going on the roll.

A hot and humid end to a glorious day making our way from Staithes to Flamborough via Whitby and Scarborough. Fish and chips in Whitby with a pot of gravy. I'm from the North West, gravy is a prerequisite, sod your curry sauce.
Arrived a couple of hours before sunset, making the short walk down to the headland a hour later.
Wandering around looking for compositions I somehow managed to wangle a free wildlife talk by pretending I was looking for other compositions whilst tagging along with the official guided tour.

Dear flickr friends,
3 weeks and 9500 photos later, I'm back in Germany - with a lot of jet lag, but with the experience of another great photo trip to the Southwest of the USA. This time I went with two friends - a great tour, exhausting but worth it...we only had one day of bad photo weather - which followed this exciting sunset.
A thunderstorm came up and the play of colors was unique - I've been here a few times at sunrise - but almost always without clouds - this was a completely different number... the air was so full of electricity that your hair felt like when Struwwelpeter (shock-headed Peter) stood up tangled - that looked really bizarre, especially on women with long hair - I had never experienced anything like that. And in retrospect it was good that I didn't follow my friend's advice to leave this place immediately because there was a risk of being struck by lightning...so I finished this panorama photo - consisting of 2 in total rows of 4 images using my nodal adapter.
It rained heavily that night and as it continued the following day we unfortunately couldn't do our booked Canyon X photo tour due to flooding - all slot canyons around Page were closed...but that's moaning on a high level - because, as always, such storms are the best prerequisite for interesting photos...
Dramatischer Sonnenuntergang am Horseshoe Bend, Arizona
Liebe flickr-Freunde,

I'm revisiting images of the many faces of Keefer Lake, my home. This is a 'redo' of a photo taken in April, 2009. The thickest and strangest fog/mist formed over the ice on the lake in a pastel 'winter blue' I had not seen before. It was like being inside a Salvador Dali painting! Although we often have ice fog we have not had anything quite like this one ever since.

What follows is a (very) short story of mine written in the same year the photo was made ... the story and the photo seemed related somehow - at least to me?

'Finding it, solving it, living it.'
Cool blue seemed to describe what he was seeing. It was soon dark and with it he feared he would be left to himself and he knew from experience that was not safe. How to feel it seemed always to be the fundamental problem but there were countless other difficulties that he constantly confronted and tonight seemed no different. Why is it that the ordinary takes priority over the real issue? Laziness, he supposes … do what is in front of you and brighter in your eyes rather than deal with the shadows in your mind, the things that are off to the side.
With the passing of those thoughts the blue was already gone and only patches of grey lined the horizon and shaped the trees and lake in front of him. Black and white would be easier he mused, grey was the problem of course. Joseph had always known that the lake would be the place where he found it and solved it. However, there was little warmth yet and more to be done. It wasn’t a case of deciding where to start because he knew already there was no beginning. He wasn’t even sure if there would be an ending? What to do at any given time about it he had concluded is about energy and attitude and distractions. The right proportions are essential and even distraction is needed in a measured and timely way. He had not seen in any sustained way that magical place … only glimpsing it from time-to-time although that was enough and it kept him coming back. Joseph often claimed that his only enduring trait was curiosity although he was credited by others as having more. He didn’t seem to care or need their praise and usually shrunk from it when it was offered … shyness perhaps, perhaps not? He reasoned that it wasn’t relevant anyway and wouldn’t help with finding it.
Idleness is, a friend of, maybe a prerequisite to the pursuit of it and Joseph had time on his hands now. You had to be sure though that the distractions of idleness didn’t overwhelm the quest. It was too easy to see them as reprieves when really they were quest busters. Peace of mind was not the same as the lack of stress that sometimes accompanies idleness and Joseph believed it was all about finding peace of mind. The glimpses of it had shown him that idleness only provided a useful means for having time to chase after the peace. “Maybe it wasn’t so much as chase, as follow” Joseph concluded. Curious people are often alone with their thoughts and comfortable in them. Thinking is not being idle although it might appear to be that to those observing.

Out of the group of Avocets that were sticking close to shore, this guy seem to be among the bravest as he was a bit away from the pack and also seemed unconcerned with me and slowly ventured towards me. Still a bit of a crop as they all have been, I was happy that it slowly moved into the position that it did so that the background and reflection of the background was darker, showing better the very light drizzle that was happening.
With that slight drizzle (best seen in full view) came some very soft light which is almost a prerequisite I believe to get a decent rendering of the light areas.
I do like many of the shots I was able to get, but this one is among my favorites; they really are lovely looking birds.

Dogs don't ask for much in this world. Love, shelter and food are the prerequisites for a basic life. However, add a new glow in the dark ball to a dog's life and it is transformed. Walking with our older dog this evening, I took along his new ball. When he dropped it to explore new scents, I noticed a wet leaf attached to the plastic orb. It seems my dog and I have much in common. We have the same basic needs and the love of a glowing sphere.

Please read below if you are curious about how this shot was taken:
These are silhouette within light bubbles (light bokeh). To create this effect, the prerequisite is that you have a (macro-) zoom lens allowing you to create bokeh effect.
The condition of light source is very important. One light bubble is formed by one light source, and the light source has to be strong and condensed so that you can form a clear light bubble together with a clear silhouette. In this image, these multiple bubbles are formed by dazzling lights on the surface of a lotus pond around noon time when the sky was clear and the sun was high.
The choice of object as the motif is also very important. Imagine about the size of dazzling light laying on the lens toward the sensor of the camera, the object should be something thin, small and delicate, so that you can get a nice silhouette within the bubble.
For making this photograph, you need to put the object in the focal range and aim the camera toward the direction of the light source (so that you are literally shooting a macro silhouette within a bokeh), and then manually adjust the focus, moving the camera as needed, until you get the composition you like in the frame. The angle toward the light source is important. If your light source is the reflective sunlight (such as the dazzling lights in my example), you really need to direct the camera to the point where you have those light coming toward your frame, in order to create the silhouette.

not because of the color ... Zurich is said to be one of the cities with the highest quality of life ...
Of course, a lot is being done to achieve this and money is plentiful there ...
and then there's also a kind of cooperative building, in which there are small apartments but large communal kitchens and lounges and a few rooms for visitors/guests, like me, because the apartments are too small when friends or relatives come to visit.
We were spontaneously invited for a plate of stew by a group in the communal kitchen, where the cooks, cleaners and dishwashers take turns every day.
The prerequisite for living close to the city center, affordable at a streetcar station, is - not to own a car - ...
Life without a car would be hard to imagine in America. However, there is a good public transport infrastructure in Switzerland and we always have our bikes with us for sightseeing.
Alternative, better living models require different staircases ... there were 4 of them, each in a different color ...

Amritsar (India) - Photographing in a sacred place in India, such as the Golden Temple, involves a great difficulty: the incessant solicitude of pilgrims who wish to have their portrait taken.
At the beginning, in front of the kindness of the Sikhs, I accepted this bondage out of politeness. Of course, these photos were taken without researching the composition. Only shots of Sikhs alone or in groups, with a bit of the Golden Temple in the background to set the scene. These imposed photo shoots can, however, be a good prerequisite for engaging a contact who, subsequently, can sometimes offer the opportunity to obtain less agreed photos.
As I stayed several days on this sacred site, I quickly understood that this imposed exercise of static photography would be recurrent. So much to try to take advantage of this obligation by taking care of the composition as well as possible. For photos of a family made up of about twenty members, whatever you do, you will not obtain anything photographically satisfactory. Although the place is sacred, do not expect miracles.
I myself came to faith slowly through a process of doubt; I find it hard to imagine being suddenly infected by collective piety at some mass rally with banners reading JESUS LOVES YOU and cheerleaders with unbearably fixed smiles. Besides, at the time of my conversion, stadiums and circuses still served their original purposes and were not used for religious clownery. Naturally I respect the fact that there are those who feel the need to be crushed in a crowd of like-minded people to strengthen their faith. My faith would more likely be lost in a throng like that.
A touch of skepticism, irony, and commitment to critical reason as a permanent corrective to any tendency to superficial religious enthusiasm is, in my view, not only a necessary condition for mental and spiritual health, but also a prerequisite if we are not to drown out the real voice of God with our own whooping and shouting: it reminds me of the fellow in the well-known anecdote who is looking in the dark for a black cat in a totally empty room and calling out rather prematurely: “I’ve got it, I’ve got it!”

Last spring, a dear photography friend sent me a few "Morning Glory" seeds. They got off to a slow start, but are blossoming beautifully now. Only trouble is I have to get up much earlier than my normal time to capture the flowers before they close up in the heat of the day (see below) . . . but isn't *going out of our comfort zones* one of the prerequisites for being a serious photographer!?

So I do my best to strengthen and preserve it!
Democracy can no longer be taken for granted and is also under attack in our media.

‘Increased understanding of the influence of habitat and intrinsic factors on survival of a species is a prerequisite to successful management programs, particularly as they relate to population dynamics and the role of population models in adaptive species management.”
While walking the beach of west Texas watching the wildlife struggle daily for survival, seeing the pollution of man created by its struggle to survive I could not but correlate and remember a Biologist prof back in college with the quote above and wonder when will politicians and environmentalist direct their attention to what Biologist teach on a daily basis.

To many people the term Cattleya is synonymous with orchids. For a long period, a Cattleya corsage was a prerequisite for any special occasion and as a result the Cattleya has often been called the Queen of Orchids.
While no longer the reigning queen of the orchid floral industry it is difficult not to be impressed by a well-flowered Cattleya. No longer limited to white and various shades of lavender and purple, high quality flowers are available in the entire color spectrum (except true blue) and in a wide range of plant sizes.

But wonder is not the only prerequisite of worship. In moments of wonder, when we sense the sublime dimension of existence, it is upon mystery that we come and in reverence we stand. Life's grandeur directs our attention to its mystery, and our wonder is filled with awe.

The culture of the human creator
“The perceived world is chaos, the chiasm of existence and emptiness. In human vision, the world chaos constantly goes through the procedure of consideration, evaluation and figurative consolidation, which does not require long-term linguistic processing.
For sight, only a few prerequisites are needed: the presence of light, the presence of those who see
and a visible event. "
Travertines are located next to the Cross Pass, on the Georgian Military Road. Travertine is a calcareous tuff, consisting mainly of aragonite. The color is given by impurities, in this case iron, so it is red. You can try the water, it's clean, but it smells strongly of iron.
Travertine is a sedimentary rock formed as a result of precipitation of calcium carbonate from water solutions. There are extensive travertine formations in the Truso Gorge that have been formed over the years.
Travertine formations are characterized by amazing shapes and textures. Water penetrating through porous rock layers creates beautiful and complex structures of deposited calcium.
One of the greatest features of travertine is its colorfulness. It can have various shades, including white, cream, yellow and brown, depending on the mineral impurities and chemical elements present in the calcium precipitating water.
Travertine is a unique ecosystem that supports a variety of plants and animals. Due to the constant precipitation of water and the availability of food resources, many plants live in the vicinity of travertine, including lichens, mosses and various plant species that have adapted to such conditions.
For travertine to occur, several conditions must be strictly observed. Even if one of these conditions is violated, travertine will cease to exist, will die. A prerequisite for the appearance of travertine is the presence of a gentle slope and a constant flow of mineral water in a thin layer. Only when these conditions are met, the minerals suspended in water manage to settle on the surface and form the thinnest petrified mineral crust, which gradually grows and turns into a lattice.
Not only through its collection, but also through its exceptional architecture, the Kunstmuseum Bonn is an important cultural "beacon" of the federal city of Bonn and radiates national and international influence.
The building, designed in the mid-1980s by a collective of architects consisting of Dietrich Bangert, Bernd Jansen, Stefan Scholz, and Axel Schultes (BJSS), was inaugurated in June 1992. Integrated into Bonn's museum circuit, its architecture captivates with its openness and its use of light. The clear but not sober formal language, which incorporates playful elements, never succumbs to a self-centered celebration of architecture. Inspired by the spirit of the late 1980s, the building optimally combines a vigorous and unique formal language with the institution's content requirements.
With its ambitious and "fluid" spatial concept, the museum offers impressive prerequisites for achieving an optimal presentation of art in all its facets, from classical modernism to the most recent varieties of contemporary art, both in terms of the dimensions of the individual spaces, their visual and material access axes and the management of light.
Mostly I attempt to photograph birds and wildlife in some kind of action and/or behavior as I think it generally makes for a more interesting photo.
But I certainly don't see it as a requirement or prerequisite.
On our recent trip to South Texas I had more opportunities to capture songbirds in great setups than I ever have before.
So even though the Northern Cardinal is an extremely common bird here in the east where I have lived most my life, I relished the opportunity to capture this beautiful guy hanging out on what I found to be a very attractive perch.
We as photographers will take a picture of something banal which would otherwise go unnoticed and allow it to show it's inherent unique attractiveness.
No it's not pretty, but beauty is not necessarily a prerequisite to be attractive. In it's moment it brings itself out of the shadows and to our attention.
The Ausable River in the New York Adirondack high peak region for the most part is a very tame and safe shallow river except for one part which cuts through were it cuts through a short but very steep gorge and of course someone brought the land around the gorge and charges you $11 a head to see it and with the prerequisite gift shop and snack bar. But walkways were built to view the gorge.
Can't you see...
so many days
have already left me...
never to be caught
or seen again
they jostled by season
and reproached the frost
glanced with pure reason
toward the disquiet
of falling rain
it's a displacement of roots
a supposition of prerequisite
which the heart continually refutes
fighting the reflection long gone
swallowed by the greater shadow
victorious in it's fall
pain becomes the stirrup of escape
jumping the gun of nightfall
is it destiny, one wonders
...will the other follow...?

Happy Fence Friday!
What follows is a (very) short story of mine written many years ago. Sometimes my thoughts when making certain photos remind me of my thoughts when I wrote this story and the photo seems related somehow - at least to me?

An Upper Light Pillar some seconds before sunrise. The atmospheric phenomen occurs when there are ice crystals in the form of platelets or columns in the air. The light column is created by reflecting the sunlight on the base surfaces of rotating plates and on the prism surfaces of rotating columns. The prerequisite, however, is that the ice crystals vibrate around their vertical axis. In addition, snow stars can also create a pillar of light. The creation of the column is comparable to the path of light that the setting sun creates on a billowing surface of water.
Geometry and opulence are generally perceived as opposites: While geometry represents rationality, order and reduction, opulence is associated with engrossing lushness, excess and redundancy. However, a look at art history shows that they are definitely intercon-nected, especially when a geometric motif is multiplied in such a way that it takes on ornamental characteristics or becomes a pattern. In a 2012 text (published in the antho-logy Ornament: Motiv – Modus – Bild), art historian Markus Brüderlin notes that the ornamental kept showing up as an important driving force in 20th-century abstract art, the most recent clear expression of which being the “tendency toward the ornamental” seen in the 1980s’ revived abstraction.
Taking nationally and internationally renowned artists as examples, the exhibition Geometric Opulence at Museum Haus Konstruktiv asks: How intertwined are geometry and opulence today? When does something start to be read as opulent? And how is contemporary art addressing these matters? The invited artists assign a special role to playing with multiplication, densification and spatialization strategies for abstract geometric elements. Here, opulence arises via imposing formats, a huge amount of paint, or an accumulation of any kind of material, for instance. Another form of play consists of leaving the two-dimensional image space and taking over real space. Entirely in the interests of opulence, all the artists have been given as much space as possible, so this group exhibition is made up of largely independent solo presentations. What they all have in common is an artistic language that reflects an interest in geometry, structure, variations and systems, as well as mastery of opulence’s prerequisite grand gesture.
Former Belarus Air Force An-26LL 22 Yellow (serial number 1502) was originally an ordinary transport An-26, built in 1972 at the Kiev Aviation Plant. As an An-26LL it is the only one in Belarus and was given the "LL" designation after significant adaptions were made to the aircraft interior. Subsequently it participated in the investigation of the causes of 19 air crashes, 63 accidents, 469 prerequisites for flight accidents as well as 665 studies of the causes of failure of aircraft systems and assemblies . After decommissioning in 2002 the aircraft was installed nearby the café at the Borovaya Aerodrome and inside the cabin there was a VIP room for café visitors. Since 2009 it has been part of the main museum exhibition.

Multiple failures to read this book is a prerequisite to completing this book. But the struggle was worth it. These were some videos and books I bought that helped me:

There are many different types of figs, from dark purple to green and slightly purple. We have four fig trees, one of which is over 8 metres tall and unfortunately only bears false fruit. The smaller ones bear fruit at different times, so that we can harvest new fruit every month...Figs are very healthy

Human presence is not a prerequisite to stillness. I can't cause stillness to happen, but I can embrace it, and choose to enter in.
For through the doors of stillness l can participate as my own voice wills to be sequestered to a place where even Birds with ADD respectfully pause to gaze.
Such Holy ground lies beyond where I can stand. So I will enter more often, and I will practice. Than finally, I will be still, and I will know who is God.

Wow, what a Christmas this year! We’ve not put up a tree in a hot minute. We both decided that it was too much time and trouble putting up a tree. Why should we? We’re childless and we have no nieces or nephews. My mom is gone and my dad’s…well, he’s just dad who thinks he’s my creator. At least he didn’t send me more broken cameras! That was a smack in the face, last year. We have company so it was a prerequisite for her. There’s three of us and all the gifts under the tree are all from her. I have not wrapped anything yet.
