CONCENTRATE- concentrate-concentrate

Never underestimate the importance of good wall preparation prior to painting.

This involves:

- FIlling up holes and cracks in the plaster

- sanding down or scraping away bits that protrude off the smooth surface of the plaster

- Wiping down the walls with sugar soap to remove excess plaster dust and dirt.

- Vacuuming the floors to remove dust and grit, preventing them from reattaching to the walls

The final step of preparation is to go over all surfaces with an oil-based wall sealer (usually white) to seal off the plaster so that it doesn't react with the actual paint.

Prepping for comic con! The pink sheets are packaging labels for the packaged button sets, then an email sign up sheet for the new email news list ( missmonsternews@gmail.com) Trimming prints, drinking delicious ice cold green tea and watching Cops.

Also pictured: dog toy that is a werewolf that turns into a woodsman ( delightful toy but she far loves it more than i do so she gets to chew it up) my new cowboy boots that i got for a steal ( i miss Texas) and the bottom half of the container i use to travel with the werewolf costume. A HUGE pain in the ass.

I hate working at desks and have sat on the floor to work since i was about 15. The floor just feels better. I guess desks remind me of being at work or school so i avoid them when i can.

Not pictured! Tabouli Brothers Wanted posters! JFish is working on a cool looking comic due out in the fall so I'm going to hand out some stuff for him at comic con to help out :)

I decided to use a manual focus lens for a bit of fun when my wife was making this new cake. My dad originally owned a Leica CLE camera, which came with an awesome little 40mm f2 lens. It's great for portraits on a micro four thirds camera. It's a bit "glowy" at f2, like most adapted fast lenses I've tried, but clears and sharpens right up at f2.8.

Manual focus is another challenge on the GF1. It's very difficult to nail a good focal plane, and often my shots were off by a few inches to really get the eyes or face in focus. As you can see in a shot like this, a center-magnified focus aid would not have been useful at all! I'm hoping my next camera will have peaking. Just shooting something like this on the back of the GF1's LCD requires almost a "focus-bracketing" approach to get at least one sharp outcome.
