Saw atleast 60 of these hanging out near the Charles River bank. One flew and all the rest followed immediately. It was quite a site.

A big festival here in Ahmedabad is the kite festival - it takes place over two days in January. Apparently the entire city is up one thier roof tops or terraces flying a kite. I'll take some pictures.
I left Ottawa by myself on Thursday afternoon. I flew to Halifax to meet up with Andrew, Joe and Peter. Let the games begin.

David made a feeder and hung it on our clothes line. He was hoping to attract squirrels so we could watch their acrobatics. It worked.

In Japan, Mochi is sticky rice, which is beaten into a pulp. It is then used to make a variety of different kinds of gooey snacks.
Shortly before the festival. A lot of people are at the church (see the background), but the international teams are preparing special meals. (I had to leave early before all the people came to this section of the festival, it is in the church vicarage, where many events take place. The block where this church is located is across the street from the train station in one part. Although this is a small town, there are people from many countries, or second, third generation citizens.
In Letchworth State Park you can spend a couple hundred bucks and if the weather is good they will take you up in a hot air balloon ride to see the waterfalls during a sunset. For those of us on a poor roadtrip...we enjoy watching others as they prepare. I'm sure the photos from up there would have been beautiful, it was an amazing sunset that day.
