Poor old Ted, he wanted to be a doomsday prepper but I told him it was ill advised. But he said, why not, he’s been in a bag and in hibernation for so many years, what harm could there be in it? And so he was let loose last year.
He’s taken up residence watching the birds arrive for a bath and purloined a few items from our “preparedness stock” that he likes or feels are important.
I guess I would feel that way too if my last 5 minutes of fame was a photo 62 or more years ago. So, say hi to Ted, my Mum’s bear who doesn’t have a birthdate. Probably before WWII I imagine. He’s been in the wars and was patched a few times by my Mum before he left home many years ago. So, he’s really pretty precious to me.
I suspect there are quite a few Teds out at the moment. I fear for his future, I am not sure he is going to hold the special nostalgia that I have for him for anyone else (including my daughter) and that kind of makes me sad. So for the record, and the fresh air, he lives again. I just don’t think he wants to go through another war, however caused!
Chieftain Texulu immediately ran to the armory to put on his fancy battle armor, complete with the head of a sabertooth tiger as one of the pauldrons.
Circa 1990. Thank you to Thomas Hawk for the scan. These negatives would have been in a landfill without you.

NATO and the EU call on all European citizens to prepare for every possible calamity.
We don't expect to be bombed, but in the past two years there has been an increasing number of Russian hybrid attacks (cyber, sabotage etc) throughout Europe and there is a real risk that Putin might try to take out the power grid, water supplies and critical infrastructure.
Citizens throughout Europe are called upon to get ready to be self-sufficient for at least 72 hours (by then help would have arrived).
Freezedried food is ideal for that. Depending on the type and brand, it has a shelf life between two and thirthy years. And it tastes really good. There is a very wide range of foods - even for vegans such as myself, there is a lot of choice.
Obviously you also need water (I have water sachets but also long shelf life (of 50 years) of Blue Can cans and a bottle with a water filter, as well as water purification tablets (not pictured).

I love having dinner prepped early. I've got pork marinating that will go the oven to roast, and we'll have stir-fry veggies with it.

Normally, here in Mormon Utah County, Sunday Mornings at Costco are pretty quiet but today the place was packed with people stocking up on water, TP and other essentials. Nearly every cart had at least ten cases of water. In the ten minutes I was there I counted over a thousand cases of water rolling out the doors.
