It was a beautiful day, so I decided to head towards the coast more precisely Adraga beach. The sea was rough as usual, but there was not much haze in the beach.

As long as the world ruled by money and greed dictate bourgeois - nothing will change for the better.

Had to share this joyous sight with you ! Yes, it's another rainbow (sorry!) but this time taken from my bedroom window this morning at 8.39 precisely ! If you look closely you can see it's actually a double rainbow. Soon the rain came and all my other pics were covered in raindrops and a bit blurry. The yellow thing sticking up on the left is a crane, by the way.

Arthur Schopenhauer
If the world as representation is only a will that has become visible, art is precisely this visibility made clearer; the dark room that embraces better and with a single glance; it's the show in the show, the scene in the scene.

Great Grey Owls owe their keen sense of hearing to the large facial discs which direct the sound waves to their ears. As a result, they can precisely determine the position of their prey, usually voles and mice. Wiith an average body length of 72 cm (28 inches), this stealthy hunter is the world’s largest owl.
There are no wild Great Grey Owls in Britain so I photographed this captive bred bird at a falconry centre in Bedfordshire.

A hummingbird comes in for a landing on the giant saguaro blossoms. On the very top of the cactus, the blossoms look like a spring straw hat with flowers to me. Many people consider the saguaro as the monarch of the Sonoran Desert. Saguaros flowers blossom in a precisely orchestrated sequence to satisfy needs of birds, bees, bats and other creatures that feed on them.
It is a challenge to photograph the blossoms as the saguaro can be up to 25 to 35 feet tall.
As always, thanks so much for stopping by.

Kalmar castle (Kalmar slott) was originally a medieval fortification, built by Magnus Ladulås at the end of the 13th century. It was here the Kalmar Union was formed in 1397. But today's castle took its form during the Renaissance, when it was improved in the 16th century by king Gustav Vasa (Gustav I) and his sons Erik XIV and Johan III and this is today one of the most well preserved Renaissance castles in Sweden (it was restored in the 19th century by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander and Helgo Zettervall).

Exmoor is loosely defined as an area of hilly open moorland in west Somerset and north Devon in South West England. It is named after the River Exe, the source of which is situated in the centre of the area, two miles north-west of Simonsbath. Exmoor is more precisely defined as the area of the former ancient royal hunting forest, also called Exmoor, which was officially surveyed 1815–1818 as 18,810 acres (7,610 ha) in extent. The moor has given its name to a National Park, which includes the Brendon Hills, the East Lyn Valley, the Vale of Porlock and 55 kilometres (34 mi) of the Bristol Channel coast. The total area of the Exmoor National Park is 692.8 square kilometres (267.5 sq mi), of which 71% is in Somerset and 29% in Devon.
The upland area is underlain by sedimentary rocks dating from the Devonian and early Carboniferous periods with Triassic and Jurassic age rocks on lower slopes. Where these reach the coast cliffs are formed which are cut with ravines and waterfalls. It was recognised as a heritage coast in 1991. The highest point on Exmoor is Dunkery Beacon; at 519 metres (1,703 ft) it is also the highest point in Somerset. The terrain supports lowland heath communities, Ancient woodland and blanket mire which provide a habitat for some scarce flora and fauna. There have also been reports of The Beast of Exmoor, a cryptozoological cat roaming Exmoor. Several areas have been designated as Nature Conservation Review and Geological Conservation Review sites.
There is evidence of human occupation from the Mesolithic. This developed for agriculture and extraction of mineral ores into the bronze and Iron Ages. The remains of standing stones, cairns and bridges can still be identified. The royal forest was granted a charter in the 13th century, however foresters who managed the area were identified in the Domesday Book. In the Middle Ages sheep farming was common with a system of agistment licensing the grazing of livestock as the Inclosure Acts divided up the land. The area is now used for a range of recreational purposes.
Exmoor is an upland area formed almost exclusively from sedimentary rocks dating from the Devonian and early Carboniferous periods. The name of the geological period and system, 'Devonian', comes from Devon, as rocks of that age were first studied and described here. With the exception of a suite of Triassic and Jurassic age rocks forming the lower ground between Porlock and Timberscombe and from Minehead to Yarde (within Exmoor National Park but peripheral to the moor itself), all of the solid rocks of Exmoor are assigned to the Exmoor Group, which comprises a mix of gritstones, sandstones, slates, shales, limestone, siltstones and mudstones. Quartz and iron mineralisation can be detected in outcrops and subsoil. The Glenthorne area demonstrates the Trentishoe Member (formerly 'Formation') of the Hangman Sandstone Formation (formerly 'Group'). The Hangman Sandstone represents the Middle Devonian sequence of North Devon and Somerset. These unusual freshwater deposits in the Hangman Grits were mainly formed in desert conditions. As this area of Britain was not subject to glaciation, the plateau remains as a remarkably old landform. The bedrock and more recent superficial deposits are covered in part by moorland which is supported by wet, acid soil.

The tower of San Vincenzo is a coastal tower located in the center of San Vincenzo. Its location is located near the port of the coastal town.
The tower was built by the Pisans in medieval times, more precisely in the course of the thirteenth century, certainly to perform sighting and defense functions along the southern coast of the territory of the Republic of Pisa. The military architectural structure continues to carry out its original causes for centuries, even after the incorporation of the area into the territory administered by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Just around the middle of the sixteenth century, the Medici carried out some interventions to enhance defensive capabilities, effectively implementing the role played by the tower.

An interesting story of how to become a dwarf...
The "Bico de papagaio" / Poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima) is a plant often used in Christmas decoration, in small vases. But to take advantage of this, it requires preparation. She is a giant plant that becomes dwarf. If grown naturally, it can reach 6 m in height.
To make it fit the pots, farmers use a chemical that stops the growth of the plant at an early stage of its cycle.
It is also known as the "Christmas flower", can have various colors on the upper leaves -- called bracts --, but red is the market's favorite, precisely because that color is associated with Christmas.
In the Northern Hemisphere, the hue occurs naturally, as the plant begins to receive less light during the winter. In Brazil, however, the effect is achieved in greenhouses with controlled sunlight.
The beginning of production occurs between March and April. Seedlings are extracted from mother plants in the period between July and August. In September, when they have taken root, they are transferred to permanent pots of varying sizes.
During a period that varies from four to five weeks, they remain in greenhouses, receiving normal sunlight. It is from October that the Poinsettias enter the decisive stage.
During the following nine weeks, the ambient lighting is controlled by an automatic “curtain” that is placed on the roof of the greenhouse. The technique keeps the plants for 14 hours in the dark, daily. In the remaining ten hours, they receive light normally. With this procedure, they exchange the greenish tone for red or another tone.
The Grand Vizier Mehmed-pasha Sokolović had the Arslanagić Bridge built on the river Trebišnjica, and it was opened in 1574.
It was built to connect Bosnia with the Adriatic, primarily with Novi (today's Herceg Novi, which was then part of the Bosnian vilayet) and Dubrovnik.
The bridge was named after an Arslan-aga [1] who escaped from Herceg Novi after it was captured by the Venetians in 1687. He received a concession from the Ottoman authorities to collect the toll, so he built a house next to the bridge, next to which later grew an entire settlement called Arslanagići, which is flooded today.
At the end of the Second World War, more precisely in 1944, the Chetniks tried to demolish the bridge. During the explosion, only the left wing of the bridge, about 8 meters long, was destroyed, which was replaced by a narrow concrete strip after the war. [2] [3]
After the construction of the hydroelectric power plant and the accumulation lake - in 1965 the bridge was flooded, but the following year, the water level was lowered so that it could be dismantled, stone by stone. It lay in the nearby field for a long time, so it was rebuilt from 1970 to 1972, this time 10 km downstream almost in the center of Trebinje, since then it has been one of its biggest attractions. [1]
With the outbreak of the War in Bosnia and Herzegovina in 1993, by the decision of the then mayor of Trebinje - Božidar Vučurević, the name of the bridge was changed to Perović Bridge. This is explained by some allegations that the descendants of Arslan-aga were actually Perovićs before converting to Islam. Formally, it is still called that today, although most experts still call it by its old name.

The Blue-backed Manakin is a small, brightly-colored manakin; the male is black overall with a pale, blue-back and red cap, the female is bright green overall. Pairs or individuals can be found in the subcanopy and undergrowth of humid forests and mature secondary woodland foraging for small fruits and insects. Like other manakins, the male Blue-backed Manakin has a ritualized display which it performs repeatedly for nearby females during the breeding season. Oftentimes, during this display, two males will associate in complete harmony, coordinating their dancing and singing precisely. This display may last several minutes. There are four described subspecies of the Blue-backed Manakin and several of the subspecies are isolated geographically. Despite the fact that the Blue-backed Manakin is uncommon to locally common throughout its range, it has not been placed on any threatened species lists. Source: Birds of the World.

Tenzin Gyatso - Dalai Lama

"" There are only two days a year when you can't do anything: one is called yesterday, the other is called tomorrow, so today is the right day to love, believe, do and, above all, live. ""
Tenzin Gyatso- Dalai Lama
Nestled in the green Tuscan hills, precisely in Pomaia, part of the Municipality of Santa Luce, in the province of Pisa, is the Lama Tzong Khapa Institute, one of the most important centers for the study and practice of Buddhism in Europe.
The Statue of Cenresig was inaugurated by the Dalai Lama in June 2014. The tallest statue in Europe of Cenresig (in Tibetan) / Avalokiteshvara (in Sanskrit), the Buddha of compassion, of which it is believed that the Dalai Lamas are the earthly manifestation .
It has a very special history: it was created by set designer Dante Ferretti for Martin Scorsese's film "Kundun"; once the shooting was finished the set was demolished, but the statue was saved, and after traveling from Morocco to Italy, arrived here, where sculptor Alessio Pazzini and his staff restored it to make it adhere to the precise iconographic canons Buddhists.
In this haven of peace monks and lay people live together, mostly volunteers and students who follow courses in philosophy, psychology and meditation, but it is open to anyone who wants to spend a period, or even just a few hours, away from the chaos of the city, surrounded by the nature, breathing good air and where instead of cell phone notifications birds are heard chirping.

By now you are certainly wondering why on Earth did I choose this odd title to the image. Were some of the well known saga’s films shot here? No, but they could have been! The landscape is amazingly alien looking, with the barren ash covered land contrasting with the intense blue of the ocean. The silence and absence of visible life (no animals or plants, whatsoever) only add to the sensations felt by anyone looking at it from the cupola of the nearby Capelinhos lighthouse (which is precisely where this shot was taken - see my previous post on it: www.flickr.com/photos/142581467@N05/50468466492/in/datepo...).
This part of the Faial Island didn’t exist prior to 1957 and was created by the eruption of the Capelinhos volcano, that started in September 1957 and ceased its activity only 13 months later. The eruption started some 1200m from the coast and later moved closer, to just about 500m. An initial islet was created at sea by the eruption and it kept growing along that 13 months period, finally connecting to the Faial Island through an isthmus.

Taken from the Djurgårdsbron with Djurgården to the right. It might not look like it, but this is quite central - which would have been quite evident had I shot in any other direction than precisely this one, up the Djurgårdsbrunnsviken as this part of the water is called.
It is always hard to translate names but I can give you that 'bron' means 'the bridge' and 'viken' means 'the bay'.

"An admirable work of medieval engineering that hides a disturbing legend."
It was Matilde di Canossa, enlightened feudatory and protagonist of the Italian Middle Ages, who ordered its construction during the year 1000: a bridge over the Serchio river, precisely in the town of Borgo a Mozzano, which allowed travelers and pilgrims to reach nearby Lucca and rejoin the Via Francigena which would have led them to Rome.
Over 90 meters long, this striking work presents the classic “donkey back” structure, which the asymmetrical arches make unique in the world: its main arch, in a central position, reaches a height of over 18 meters. A convex shape, almost a cusp, which makes it a perfectly preserved masterpiece of engineering.
In 1836 the bridge suffered serious damage due to a flood in the river, while in the early 1900s a new arch was opened on the right side to allow the passage of the train. Miraculously survived the ferocity of the Nazis, who had undermined it in view of abandoning the fortifications of the Gothic Line, the bridge is still offered today to visitors in all its majesty. The central arch protrudes very sharply (remembering the back of a donkey), forming a parabola so high that its structure seems to defy the law of gravity. It is therefore no coincidence that its construction is linked to a disturbing legend.
The foreman responsible for carrying out the work realized that he would never be able to finish it on time. As he sat in despair on the banks of the Serchio, the devil appeared before him, who, as he used to do, offered to make a pact: the evil one would finish building the bridge in just one night, but in return he would take the soul of the first person who would go through it. The man accepted the exchange and the devil kept his promise, building the bridge in one night.
Devoured by remorse, the master builder decided to ask the village priest for help and together they devised a cunning plan: to respect the diabolical pact, but making a pig cross the bridge. The deception succeeded and the evil one, realizing the insult suffered, threw himself from the bridge into the waters of the river Serchio.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is an orange day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesday is Complementary Colours . So of course my choice is : blue and orange. And who is the best to choose colors and decorate your space in a very unique manner ? Mr. Teddy Bear of course ! Which is perfect since we celebrate Happy Teddy Bear Tuesdays today ! So official triple challenge day !
Mr. Teddy Bear, who is a designer in his spare time (yes, he has many, many very different jobs on his CV…) had to paint a room for a set of two dinosaurs brothers… By the way the dino brothers are twins… not identical but almost: Igor and Grichka Bogddanooff . Please dont confuse them with the famous Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff but they are related : all the four ( two Bogddanooff and two Bogdanoff) share the same third-great-great-great-grandparents.
The Dino twins wanted a very precisely delimited space. So, Mr. teddy Bear decided to go with two solid and complementary colors: orange and blue… or blue and orange. And since blue and orange are Dino brothers favorite colors of all the time, no wonder the twins were thrilled with the new decor !
I hope you will like it as well !!
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day and see you later!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!
Skogafoss waterfall in South Iceland attracts visitors no matter the weather and season. I think it displays its special beauty precisely in winter, when all its walls are covered with icicles and natural icy shapes due to the strong winds and the spray they cause.

Happy Orthodox Christmas!
In Russia, the Orthodox Church uses the Julian calendar, and therefore Christmas this year is celebrated on the night of Wednesday 6 January 2021 to Thursday 7 January 2021.
Christmas is a holiday with a long history, but it was not always celebrated at the time we are accustomed to. Until 1918, Russia celebrated together with most of the countries of Europe on December 25, a week before the New Year. With the transition to modern chronology, the holiday began to be celebrated in January. Due to the fact that the Gregorian calendar in our country was adopted much later than in other countries, a gap of 14 days was formed in the celebration. Since 1929, it was forbidden to celebrate the Nativity of Christ in Soviet Russia. The tradition of official celebration of Christmas at the state level has been revived. in 1991.
View of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The largest male monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church with a long history. Located in the center of the city of Sergiev Posad, Moscow region. The founding of the Holy Trinity Hermitage is considered to be the settlement of St. Sergius of Radonezh on Makovets Hill (70 km north-east of Moscow) in 1337. After several years of lonely asceticism of the Monk Sergius, new inhabitants came to Makovets, and the hermitage turned into a special monastery. Some historians believe that this happened in the early 1340s, and more precisely in 1342.
Numerous architectural structures of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra were built by the best architects of the country in the 15th-19th centuries. The ensemble of the monastery includes more than 50 buildings for various purposes. The architectural ensemble of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra is under the protection of UNESCO. Now the monastery houses more than 10 churches.

Here you find a beautiful nature reserve I could visit this year for the first time.

I thought the Train would never come -
How slow the whistle sang -
I don't believe a peevish Bird
So whimpered for the Spring -
I taught my Heart a hundred times
Precisely what to say -
Provoking Lover, when you came
Its Treatise flew away
To hide my strategy too late
To wiser be too soon -
For miseries so halcyon
The happiness atone -

The Basilica and Convent of San Francisco, is a Catholic basilica that stands in the middle of the historic center of Quito. The structure is the largest architectural complex within the historic centers of all of South America. San Francisco is considered a jewel of continental architecture for its mixture of different styles combined throughout more than 150 years of construction. Inside the church there are more than 3,500 works of colonial art, of multiple artistic manifestations and varied techniques, especially those corresponding to the Colonial Quito School of Art, which was born precisely in this place.
Pedra da Gávea is a mountain of rock whose top is difficult to access, and which is distinguished from the other mountains of Rio due to its shapes and rock formations. And precisely because of its characteristics, it has become surrounded by myths and legends.
Rio has numerous and interesting rock mountains, and usually most of them have a pointed top, such as Corcovado, Sugar Loaf, Pico da Tijuca and the summits of Morro Dois Irmãos. On the other side of Guanabara Bay, from the top of Santa Teresa, 2 nearby mountains with pointed peaks can also be seen.
However, Pedra da Gávea, from the top of its 844 meters high, draws attention for having a different shape, in fact its summit is a plateau or level also made of rock, predominantly flat for those who see it from afar.
But when you look more closely, some details call your attention, and you can see how nature is capable of creating intriguing shapes at random, as a result of erosion.
But for some, these shapes are not the work of mere chance or erosion caused by rain and wind in the weakest parts of the rock over centuries.
The great mountain of rock arouses curiosities and is surrounded by legends and myths, which will be discussed in the following sections.
However, what is really known is that it is a mountain of gneiss rock (granite) and nothing more than that, as well as the other predominant rocks in Rio de Janeiro.
Due to the shape of its summit, when seen from the sea, the Portuguese named it Pedra da Gávea, making an analogy with the upper part of a sailing ship, called Gávea. This upper part of the ship, which is almost at the top of the mainmast, can be described as a small landing, usually fenced and having the shape of a barrel or tub where a sailor climbed for observation. As the stone had a shape that resembled a ship's top / crow's nest, they called it Pedra da Gávea.
Fireworks in honor of the birthday of the city of Moscow. September 7, 2019 the capital turned 872.
Fireworks are considered one of the most ancient decorations of holidays, carnivals and processions.
With the invention of gunpowder, something similar to the fireworks that we now observe on holidays has already appeared. They learned to control it, to regulate its speed, strength and direction. Firecrackers from gunpowder were invented by the Chinese, mainly they used them to expel demons. But in Europe, more precisely in Italy, the first festive fireworks were launched. Many believe that Peter I introduced the fireworks fashion, yes, it is, but it is fashion. And here, few people know that fireworks "dabbled" even under Ivan the Terrible.
Celebratory fireworks and salutes gained the most popularity in the 19th century, it was during this period that the development of chemistry took place. More and more chemical compounds were opened, which made it possible to make fireworks colored. At that time, fireworks were so in fashion that they were launched not only with rich houses, but ordinary people could also afford such entertainment. For example, a salute for a wedding.
The peak of the rise in our country of fireworks falls on the 90s of the 20th century, but today we can hardly imagine any significant holiday without fireworks and fiery show programs.

Autumn gingko glows;
Bright fruit, last to leave the branch.
Final fall awaits.
I love the colors of gingko foliage in the fall, and how the fruit (or technically seed pods I guess) precisely match the colors of the leaves throughout the seasons, from green to this brilliant yellow. You don’t want to smell the inside of these gingko seed pods though…whoa! This seed pod was the very last to fall from my tree this season, so I thought that kind of tenacity earned it it’s own image.
Flowers and plants precisely mark the times and the arrival of the seasons.

This market has a train running through the middle of it several times a day.
This is a moving shot from the back of the train as it's moving through the market.
Locals have this down to a science and know precisely how high they can stack merchandise to allow the train to ride over. Tables are on little tracks that roll back into the shop as the train approaches. Shops also drop their sun protecting overhangs to allow the train passage - people scramble out of the way, but you are only inches/centimeters away.
I found this unique market in 2011 when it was unknown by tourists. Now in 2019, it has become a significant tourist attraction to see this unique experience.
