This wooden mankind looking elephant with his enormous feet is one of the weirdest in my collection and one the tallest, about 56cm. It has a African look and I'm not sure if it has a meaning or just made for fun.

It reminds me a preacher, who telling us to seize the day. So lets do that en enjoy ;-))

The itinerant preacher Heimerad worked on this mountain in the last years of his life. After his death in 1019 AD, a chapel was built over his grave in 1021 by order of Archbishop Aribo of Mainz. Many years later, in 1074, Archbishop Siegfried I of Mainz endowed a canonry, which was converted into a Benedictine monastery in 1081. Many years later, the monastery was also burnt down once, but rebuilt. In 1527, the monastery was abolished in the course of the Reformation. That's it.

The Story

McLeod Ganj is located at 1770 m above Sea Level.

The town is located 4 kms by foot( 9 kms by car) above Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. The town is a major tourist hangout and also features many trek shops for the Dhauladhar Range. You will also find friendly Tibetan monks, western food, budget hotels, video movies and congested shops selling Tibetan Souvenirs.

Jaffa, in Hebrew Yafo (Hebrew: יָפוֹ‎, About this soundYāfō (help·info)) and in Arabic Yafa (Arabic: يَافَا‎) and also called Japho or Joppa, the southern and oldest part of Tel Aviv-Yafo, is an ancient port city in Israel. Jaffa is famous for its association with the biblical stories of Jonah, Solomon and Saint Peter as well as the mythological story of Andromeda and Perseus, and later for its oranges. Jaffa is mentioned in an Ancient Egyptian letter from 1440 BCE. The so-called story of the Taking of Joppa glorifies its conquest by Pharaoh Thutmose III, whose general, Djehuty hid Egyptian soldiers in sacks carried by pack animals and sent them camouflaged as tribute into the Canaanite city, where the soldiers emerged and conquered it. The New Testament account of Saint Peter bringing back to life the widow Dorcas (recorded in Acts of the Apostles, 9:36–42, takes place in Jaffa, then called in Greek Ἰόππη (Latinized as Joppa).
