QUEM DISSE QUE NÃO EXISTE TERRORISTA NO BRASIL?

Os terroristas brasileiros explodem barragens.

Enchem as cidades e as ruas de lama.

Queimam índios...

Espancam homossexuais, negros, nordestinos, moradores de rua.... Matam policiais aposentados e bombeiros...

Incendeiam ônibus que carregam trabalhadores...

Proíbem crianças carentes de irem às escolas...

Derrubam a Amazônia... Os terroristas brasileiros pilham os cofres públicos,

e matam em massa crianças por inanição,

por doenças típicas da miséria e do descaso,

por falta de informação, de remédios, de hospitais,

I didn't have much time to get ready for this evening's assignment. I had about an hour to get ready and start the car for the 30 minute drive into Martin Place. The most pressing issue was the rain. My coat was good for me but I was wasn't going to let both my Nikon D3S & D700 have to endure the rain.

With only a few minutes to come up with a waterproof cover, I went to the kitchen for two thin plastic shopping bags and a handful of rubber bands. Wrapping a shopping bag around the camera and placing a rubber band to keep it all down I finished a my quick solution.

I usually get my younger sister to drop me off at assignments like these - I love telling her that I need her to drop me off at an exciting assignment. I visualise her as my helicopter pilot and I need to jump out to start a mission!

She dropped me off on Macquarie Street, about 300m east of where all the people had gathered. Cameras ready, I alertly walked into Martin Place as the rain continued to shower down softly. There were two distinct groups gathered - one group was laying wreaths and another group were crowded around singing French music.

It's at this point my instincts kick in. The group laying wreaths was probably going to continue all night, but the second group seemed more interesting. French people singing? How long was that going to last? I had to be a part of it and get in the epicentre.

My technique for getting to groups of strangers is find the weakest or strongest part of the chain and cut my way to the epicentre. My attire for the evening was to look the part and act the part - being dressed in a German parka and wearing a black beret was a reference to the french/german football game where one of the attacks took place.

And my plan worked. I got myself into the centre of the group and got the shots I wanted. Using the 14mm f/2.8 I was able to squeeze the entire scene into a single frame.

It continued to rain as they sung the French National Anthem and I was very impressed with the spirit of this group and got about 30 seconds of video..

Being dressed the way I was and carrying two large cameras on a chest harness usually attracts attention. A another photographer, approached me and we had a talk about the rain and equipment. His name was Pierre and he had an Olympus 4/3 and also didn't want to get his camera wet!

I walked around and made my way to the wreath laying, the display had only just opened and there weren't many flowers. I suppose it'll fill up over the next week.

I called my sister she arrived to pick me up and this is the photo of me waiting!
